  • Why the fuck doesn't someone just crank up the gain like satch would use, its an IBANEZ AMP get rid of the shitty fender and play. Jesus!

  • @ibanez2damaxx

Hawk eyes, your right, it is an Ibanez amp. But there are no fender.

Crank up the cain? There are no more gain to crank in it (even if it is a Ibanez amp).

It is a Tube Screamer (also Ibanez) amp, not even trying to be a high gain monster.

    Cheers!

    Magnus

  • Not a lot of good reviews/demos of this amp out there at all. This is by far the best I've run across. Thank you! I want one....

  • @JasonElGato

    Thanks man!

They are amazing, go get one!

    Cheers!

  • Hi MagnX, this is the best demo I have heard for this amp.

I made my own sample though. I put my Boss RV-2 on the effects loop but it doesnt sound close as this. I own an old 89 Charvel (single-hum) and I wish to juice up the amp to nice cleans and nice drive tones. Care to help? My vid's found on my channel

    More power to you dude

  • @marutinkunify

Sorry for late reply, are on tour in France.

Send me a mail and let us see if I can help.

But my experience is that the amp like singlecoils better than humbuckers and vintage type humbucker better than high gain humbuckers (like any TS pedal).

When using it live have I used Ibanez new Jet Drive to get more gain when needed, and it has been great. And a Ibanez DE7 delay and a T-rex tube reverb too (not at the same time).

    Cheers!

    Magnus

  • Make sure you are still watching at 6:30...holy shit!

  • Great review! Merry Christmas from your friends in Canada!

  • Greetings fellow man of the north! great review you really play awsome! do you think this amp would do well with a 2x12 cab with a greenback and a g12h in it? Best regards from Denmark

  • Would this amp be more suitable for playing Eric Johnson type things rather than my Blackstar HT-40? The Blackstar can get a little too much gain and I'm looking for smooth overdrive that Eric Johnson kinda has. Of course I have pedals for that too.

  • @OlafArisson

    Thanks, Olaf!

Makes me very happy that you think so, it really does, thanks!

I try to just be myself and show the gear instead of myself wanking to much :-)

I mean, it is a demo of the amp, not a demo of me.

Even if good players a cool to see do I personally think that people play a bit to much in demos of gear.

Thanks for watching and taking the time to write! I appreciate it!

    Cheers!

    Magnus

  • Have you ever tried running a TS-808 Hand Wired through this? Double your pleasure, double your fun! SRV would love this.

  • @doctorgone

    Hey!

No, I have not tried running the HW through this amp.

But I can imagine that it will be a little step better. I have tried with my original (old) TS808 and it is a little difference to the better. But I think the one built in are good enough, so I use that.

The only "add on" I use when I use it live are a tube reverb pedal. Then by just changing on the guitar can I get through most styles of music that I need (I don't do any metal stuff with it).

    Cheers!

  • These have been getting bad reviews but they're such great amps. They remind me of Buddas; until you look at the price tag anyways. They're great country amps. I cant wait to pick one up. Great bang for the buck! Only reason I would knock it is for the lack of a mid control knob but thats just me and my personal preference. Im always messing with the mids on my amps. The mids seem well balanced without the knob though. All around great sound and simple design. Cant go wrong with this amp.

  • @mcbm1991

I agree, a mid knob would be cool, but I can do without it.

I have not seen many bad reviews, it got really well reviews in the only guitar magazine we have over here.

But I have noticed on guitar shows that many (especially young guys) tries to turn it into a metal machine with extremely hot humbuckers, and fail. I mean the normal "ibanez shred, super distorted over compressed sound" type of guys.

But the ones who tries it for what it is seem to really like it.

    I personally love it.

  • Hey man, your first name is my last name. And I also love this amp. Thanks for the awesome demo.

    -Pat

  • @citizenerased13

    Hey, Pat!

    Thanks!

Cool, your last name are Magnus?

Yes, it is a lovely amp!

    Cheers!

    Magnus

  • Excellent demo, going to have to check the amp out, thanks!

  • @neilr11

    Thanks, man!

Yeah, do try it, I hope you will like it.

  • Sweet hybrid picking run at 6:29

He's all disciplined through out the whole video and then decides to tear into it in the last 10 seconds!

  • @mdaleo

    Thanks you, man!

    Thanks for watching too.

It needed a bit of something there, can't be slow for too long :-)

    Cheers!

    Magnus

  • This is easily the best demo of this amp. Great job and great sound. This would be great to keep at home for a practice amp.

  • @jonny12mac

    Thanks man!

Really appreciated that you liked it.

    Thanks!

    Cheers,

    Magnus

  • Finally someone who made a good demo video of this amp!!! All the other demos and sound clips on youtube are garbage. The tone is clear, unlike the demo even done by Ibanez themselves...... Thanks

  • Definitely glad I just bought the amp. Your demos are fantastic and really help the pieces shine. I play experimental hardcore and with a fuzz, delay, and a couple odds and ends, it should be great.

  • @Apollo13AndTheirProb

    Thanks man!

Hope you liked your new amp?

    Cheers!

    Magnus

  • Thank god that there is at least one good demo for this amp!! Thank you

  • @bwilde93

Thank you for watching it and for taking the time to say something.

    regards

    Magnus

  • If anyone were to "dislike" this I think they'd need to see some kind of specialist... EXCELLENT video.

  • @carloslinnett

    Wow, thank you!!!

    regards,

    Magnus

  • Thanks for posting. Really informative review. Looks like a great head for the price. I'm sold!

  • @magicrat71

    Thanks!

It is a great amp for that price.

Works good for both live and studio playing.

I have used it a lot since I did the video and it just keeps being great.

    Regards

    Magnus

  • Du you think i could get a good Grunge/rock soubd out of this ? and how does it work with pedals ?

  • @MrMetalmania999

I think you can get great rock tones with a Tube Screamer, no problem in my opinion.

Depending on how much gain you want your rock sound to have, it is not a high gain amp.

Grunge, isn't that rock guitar sounds to?

It seem to love pedals, I get a good tone with everything I plug into it.

But with that said, I don't really use that amp for my "laser metal from hell" sounds.

But I use it for gigs from jazz type to pretty ruff rock.

    Cheers!

    Magnus

  • Do you think it has enough clean headroom to compete with a loud (but not insane) drummer?

  • can this amp do any trash and gash metal??? I'll look forward to it if it does, if it doesn't maybe I'll go for tbx 150 instead. please give me some advice or suggestions. thanks.

  • @mrstillarookie

    Hey, Man!

I might come out as a fool here but I don't know what Gash metal is?

But I think there are better amps to go for if your into to Trash type sounds. It would get you there with a pedal but just the TS are far from that type of sound. I honestly think you should aim for something ells.

    Good luck with it!

    Cheers!

    Magnus

  • @mrstillarookie get yourself a good distortion pedal and i'm sure it'll does the trick, but if you want a metal tone just from the amp itself i guess you should look into other amps...

  • That was the best demo that I've heard of the TSa15H.

    Great demo. Great playing.

I already own the TSA15H......It's nice to hear what other guys can do with it

    Thanks.

  • Have you ever tried this head with a single 12" celestion greenback? Vox Night Train cabinet maybe... I wonder how it sounds with greenback.

  • ... Ah ... One question please ,

Where is this amp manufactured ..?

I'm not plugging my 1961 Custom Esquire into a Chinese Amp ......

  • @tejastiger61

    It is Chinese built.

Considering the price, could it be built anywhere ells than China?

Curiosity, Why not plug it into a Chinese amp if it sounds good?

In my opinion is it not were something is made that decides the quality, it is "what its going yo cost in the end" that decides that. If a Chinese factory should build a 2500 dollar amp should it most likely be as good as any other 2500 dollar amp (probably better, that same amp would cost 6000 dollar if it was US made).

    /Magnus

  • @tejastiger61 Ironically the copper conductors in whatever cable you're using (that includes american made cables) are made in China

90% of the components in american-built boutique amps are made in China. The casket and magnet assembly of todays american and british made speakers come from China aswell

  • Helpful and informative review. Thanks.

  • @goss1961

    Thanks, goss1961.

    Thanks for watching.

    Cheers!

    Magnus

  • Hey, one question -

When using this head in the 5 watt mode, are we making tonal compromises ? as in , in comparison to the 15 watt setting, will the 5 watt fall short ?

  • @angadmalli

    That is a good question.

It does sound different in 5 watt mode, not less good, just a tiny bit different (very little differences, nuances). I use both but most of the time is it in the 15 watt mode (I have no need for being quiet with it).

I think it sounds a tiny bit more open in 15 watt mode.

Of my friends who have tried it do some like the 5 watt mode and some the 15, some don't notice any difference at all.

    Cheers!

    Magnus

  • @MagnX I'm looking for a small gig amp. This sounds great for blues and classic rock, but we also play country. I need something I can get a warm twang out of as well as the classic and blues tones. Is this possible with this amp?

  • @JeffryArntzen

    Thanks for watching.

It will do twang well, unless you play very load and it start to crack up a bit.

It is a very fenderish sounding clean tone, a bit compressed like they are, and you can get it really warm or very bright and snappy. Especially if you play singlecoils or humbuckers that isn't to high output.

I'm sitting here with a broken shoulder so I can't record any soundclip for you.

    Cheers!

    Magnus

  • @MagnX Thanks for your quick response, think I'm going to get this. Love your playing , hope you get well soon.

  • Hi guys

This is probably a stupid question, but could i for example use this cab with an Line 6 Spider 2 75HD head?

    Thanks

  • @SouzexPT

    Not stupid at all.

Yes you can, it is no problem to use the cab with the Spider.

I have use it with many different head (and combos) with it.

    Cheers!

    Magnus

  • @MagnX wow, thanks for the quick answer (:

  • Where is that delay coming from if youre not using any pedals between the guitar and amp? The fx loop? Anyway - sounds great!

  • @MikefromMesia

    Hey, man!

Yes, the delay are in the loop (it is an Ibanez DE7 ToneLock).

    Thanks!

    Cheers,

    Magnus

  • Where is that delay coming from if youre not using any pedals? Anyway - sounds great!

  • Dunno about you guys, but I think its dumb to have a tubescreamer on an amp that only has a clean channel. If you know about overdrives, they sit ON TOP of whatever channel you're on--they dont color it like a distortion would--so if you play clean you'll still hear your clean just with grit over it--it sounds awful.

  • @ShivaTheAuspicious

Good or bad sounding, it is just taste.

Most players I know use overdrive on clean channel amp, so why not build it in?

Hearing your clean with the overdrive on top is just what we want.

In what way would it be more useful with a 3 channel amp?

    /Magnus

  • I love the amp-sound! Do you think it could handle a 4x12 cabinet with vintage30s?

  • @outofofficeAachen

    Thanks, man!

Yeah, it works great in 4X12 cabinets. I have tried in Marshall, Bogner and Mesa and it have worked great in all of them.

    Cheers!

    Magnus

  • It looks this wasnt made for metal as ibanez clearly has shown with the white..

  • ok im thinking of getting this or the bnos tweed blues jr. Walk me though it. I like the options of the ibenz but is it just as loud as blues jr.Im kinda feelling the blues jr has better blues tones but ibenez better for classic rock?

  • What kind of pick ups are in your Ibanez awd 102....today i gave my awd 102 to a guitar expert ....he suggested me to put the Schaller golden 50 humbuckers in this guitar...well i heard the pick ups in other guitars and they sounded really good...but i'm not sure if this pick ups are right for my guitar...i wanna get alittle more warm jazzfusion-Sound....what's your opinion

  • @jayasslee

    Hey!

Sorry for late answer, have been playing around in France.

I have DiMarzio 36th PAF in my AWD (in my other AWD too), it works fantastic.

I think it works good for a warm jazzfusion type sound.

It is not to hot and have great dynamics and splits very well (i have a push pull on the tone knob).

I have never tried the Schaller pickups.

    Cheers!

    Magnus

  • hey magnus!

what a great player you are!

please tell me how this amp handles metal stuff? i heard that you need a couple of other distorion pedals to get a metal tone, i am talking about 80`s/modern metal tones!

    cheers magnus!

  • @carlleeray Hey, Man. Thanks for your nice words. Just a short answer, I broke my shoulder a week ago and are in trouble with writing. It would handle 80's type tones well with a additional pedal, I don't know about metal, I have not tried that. But I think that it wouldn't be perfect for it, but with the right pedal, maybe. I'm on a long playing job in France so I can't try (well, I can't play at all because of the shoulder right now). Try to get a chance to try one for metal. Regards Magnus
  • ibanez should release a fr with an edge trem like yours magnus!

  • hey does it have a line out ?so you can connect it to the P.A for gigs.

  • how would you compare it to the marshall haze 15/ the blackstar ht 20?

  • @Mirror2424

I have not tried the Haze and only tried the Blackstar very fast so I can't really compare in a fare way.

So I leave that for other people to decide.

    Cheers!

    Magnus

  • Very good player! Watched to see the amp, now I want an AWD83!

  • @hillsmith

    Thanks, man.

The AWD are a very cool guitar, amazing for the money (if you change the pickups).

I love mine and use it alot.

But if you can fiund one then get the AWD102NT instead, it is a much better version.

It does not look as good, but are a much better built guitar and that sounds noticeably better.

I use that even more than the 83.

    Take care!

    Magnus

  • Best TSA demo on YT. Just ordered my half stack. Great job!

  • He sounds like Ahnold to me.

  • @Zaspor

Thanks for noticing that, it was my coal.

But I hope you mean Arnold...

    Cheers!

    Magnus

  • @Zaspor But he looks like Tom Arnold..

  • @bornburied HA! Nice one!

  • @Zaspor

    Thanks, Zaspor!

    Cheers!

    Magnus

Mvh Magnus
  • i know this is probably stupid question.. but does can cabinets be hooked up with any amp? or does it need that head amp? >_>

  • @hellow504jr

    Hey, man.

    Thanks for watching.

You can plug any 8ohm amp into the cab, no problem.

I have tried it, ant it worked great (I have plugged the head into other speakers too).

    Cheers!

    Magnus

  • @MagnX: not just 8 ohm, but 4 ohm, 8 ohm AND 16 ohm including some combinations in stereo. this head is really versatile for external cabinets.

  • @docmartian1969

Well, the amp can handle most everything ohm wise, like you say.

But the cab (that we spoke about) are only 8 ohm.

    Cheers!

    Magnus

  • Great Video!!!! thanks for sending me this! i am going to order this amp to night! rock on!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @klv400

    Thanks man!

    Glad you liked it.

I hop eyou will like the amp, it's great!

    Take care!

    Magnus

  • Hello Magnus,

Would this amplifier and cabinet be good to play stuff like Guns N' Roses and Metallica?

    Cheers.

    Giovanni

  • @Vandude13

    Hi, Giovanni.

I think it would work okay to play Guns N' Roses type music but you would need an extra distortion pedal in front of it for it to sound Metallica (then it would be great for it). Tube Screamers (overdrive pedals) are built for other types of sounds than heavy and metal riffing. But like I say in the video, I do take pedals great, so with pedals can you make it do almost any type of sound.

    Regards!

    Magnus

  • Okay, thank you Magnus.

  • very well made video clip

  • @guitarDouchebaggery

    Thanks, man!

I looked at your stuff so it makes me happy to hear that from you.

    Your videos are fantastic.

This is the first video (filming, editing, ect) I have ever done, loads to learn.

    Cheers!

    Magnus

  • @MagnX wow, extremely good for the first serious filming and editing job

I'm also trying to improve things all the time. I think we're both on the right track.

    Georg

  • @guitarDouchebaggery

    Thanks, man!

    I sure hope so.

It is pretty funny stuff to play around with.

I will do a demo of the Ibanez WH10v2 tomorrow.

    Cheers!

    Magnus

  • I bought this amp. It is just awesome. It really has a great clean tone. It is genuinely clean with warmth. The over drive is typical TS 808. The amp really does make each guitar sound unique. This is a very very hard to better for a 5 - 15 watt amp.

  • @TJayee1

    Hey!

I totally agree with all you say.

I'm not sure if I would say "typical TS808", I think "typical TS" would be better, but I will do a A/B test as soon as i get my pedalboard home (it has a genuine 808 on it).

    Cheers!

    Magnus

  • Nicely done Magnus. It sounds very good.

  • @paulsdino

    Thanks man!

    Thanks for watching.

    Cheers!

    'Magnus

  • Magnus, you've got some killer axes there! Great playing and tones!

  • @petruccirocks02

    Thanks man!

    Thanks for taking the time.

    Regards!

    Magnus

  • Hey Magnus, great playing in the end, really fluid and just... lovely!

Funny how your swedish accent disappears when you speak english... ;)

    Take care! God Jul!

  • PS check out that hybrid solo at 6:30 a must see!

  • @lauriemonk

To be honest, I did that "lick" for you.

I have another end on the Swedish version.

    Cheers!

    Magnus

  • @MagnX Cheers buddy! A Christmas present came early!!

  • @MagnX

do you have tabs for that lick? it is an awesome lick

  • @gunsproof

No, it was just improvised, sort of like a whim when I came to think about that Laurie likes that type of lines.

I can write it down, no problem.

Remind me tomorrow, I'm out playing today.

    /Magnus

  • @MagnX

    Hey MagnX

    It would be nice :)

  • Hey Magnus is the man... the Ibanez man... you sure you have enough guitars there buddy? god jul!

  • @lauriemonk

    Hej, kompis.

    Thanks for watching.

Yes, I guess I am Ibanez crazy (but I have a lot more than Ibanez too, it is just not in the video). I just like Ibanez best.

There are 13 guitars on that wall and 5 on the stand in the corner, a very little part of the guitarpark. I need to sell more.

    God Jul!

    Magnus

  • great amp magnus...going to check it out..:)..just recently got myself a little engl gigmaster 15..love,it..

  • @joopwolters123

    Hey, Joop!

    Thanks for watching.

It is a cool am, not high gain or anything, but everything below that (well, if you know TS then you know).

The Engl are also very cool, I like that too (Engl is what I normaly play live, I have 2 different Engl setups).

    Take care!

    Magnus

  • @MagnX yes i love their stuff, did some work as a clinician for them 12 years..and at the moment iám using the powerball 2 too..love this amp..

for my new cd though i used mainly a laney tt-50head..absolutly super harmonic sound..so many great stuff out there..cheers and be well bro..have a good wknd!!

  • @joopwolters123

Cool, I did not know that you did Engl demos, nice.

I use the Sovereign 100 Vintage 210 live (and have a Savage head too but never use it). They have a rumor for breaking easy (Engl, I mean) but I have played at least 2000 shows with that Sovereign in it holds up great.

Looking forward to hear that album.

Same to you. I'm out playing all weekend.

    /Magnus

  • @MagnX yes i never had problems with their stuff too!!!having studio-jobs this wknd myself!!..enjoy
