  • usa and Australia/New Zealand rule the pacific

  • u were part of britain 50 years ago, i dont think anythign changed.....

  • Not a bad video, a bit of free propaganda though. Have you actually joined yet?

  • how long does recruit school take?

and what is the best job to go for in the RAN?

  • 11 weeks for recruit training.... Depending on what skills and duties you'd consider best job, it's a bit vague asking that question alone!!

  • ok thanks alot dude

  • TCFan25, I am a 33 year old Male who is about to do my assessment day in 1 week, do you think its a good idea for me to join?? and at my age??

  • No, not the Navy anyway. Join the RAAF if you have to join, much better lifestyle.

  • Australia is least likely to be attacked simply because we suck up to every other country & let them all in with better benefits than Aussies have. So cut the crap that we need defense its a waste of $ & only help war countries & giving charities to o/s countries who would never return the favor. Charity begins at home & stays home. If nurses have job losses in the economy why cant navy? & Why should we pay the Aus navy for female members to have bigger breasts? Thats absurd & waste of tax $.

  • Mate, you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Australia has many things that countries would be interested in, and also has and supports values that are frowned upon by sertain other nations. If anything, The Australian Defence Force is not large enough. We have the largest coastline of any nation in the world, and too little a military to protect it, leaving us vulnerable to sudden attack or invasion from countries such as Indonesia, which is our 1 major threat in the region.

  • Have you seen the growing problems of the Lebanese criminal gangs in our own country? Forget about helping other countries, we've got problems here! What kind of protection do I have as an Australian from the armed forces as I walk the streets which have become more dangerous these days. I'm sorry but there are many job loses at the moment & I don't see why war jobs are in plentiful supply. That's how the brown-shirts started in Germany in their great depression & look what happened to them.

  • Are you serious mate, you dont need the armed forces to protect ya on the streets from gangs. That's no job for the adf, that's a job for the police.....idiot.

  • yew the navy goes alright will be better when i actually get out onto a ship of course and out of training hahaha

  • Don't join as a techo get shit quals out of it.. don't join in the seamanship section you work for drop kicks and play with ropes for min 4 yrs.

  • Deadset on the nail bro!!!

Bosuns dept. full of fucken dropkicks, fuckhead supervisors and shit duties... Be a CD if you want a decent job. Did 4 years as a BM (out of the navy), mates out or joined RAAF (heaps better).... Drop me a line nishy787 on my personal page if you want to chat a bit more about this!!!

  • lol have you actually served in the navy?

  • I'm joining as an electronics technician when I finish school, can't wait, what do you reckon are my chances of being posted to an ANZAC class frigate?

  • im joining too :) but as a combat systems operator, we might see each other of your joining in 2010.

And yea good question, ANZAC seems to be the best ship and always gets the best postings - my brother just finished his 6 years as a marine tech onboard HMAS Perth. After you finish recruit school you can apply for posting at the base you want.

  • cool! have you started to apply yet?

  • na mate

im not 16 and six months yet

march 21 (counting down the days) :D

  • cool, i hit 16 and a half in april, so im gonna start applying then.. did you go to sydney to see the ships and the parade?

  • nope :(

i live in perth, i stayed overnight on Perth when my brother was in once, i loved it - apart from throwing up twice lol

  • lol

  • Hey man did you get into the navy?

I did and i leave on the 16th of nov, so pumped aha

  • nah mate i havent even had my YOU session yet, i plan on finishing year 12 first, but congrats for you mate! hope you enjoy it!

  • fair enough, year 12 is good fun (:

    and cheers mate

  • you know what ship you're getting posted to yet?

  • Nah, a long way to go before that. 11 weeks recruit training, then 38 weeks specialist training then ill get posted to a ship.

  • fair enough, what'd u end up going in as?

  • electonics tech

  • nice, thats what im planning on applying for. is it hard to get in? any advice u can give me?

  • dude its pretty easy, i just winged the whole thing. all you gotta do is read up on the defencejobs site and that tells you everything you gotta know, like all the answers from the questions they ask you and stuff. and you gotta like dress nice when you go to sessions and have a clear idea of why your joining

  • thanks mate im gonna arrange a YOU session later in the year

  • Nobody gets their first posting preference when they finish training... full STOP!!

Unless you swap billets with somebody else (who is the same trade as you), but this is seldom... chances are you'll be posted to a FSU ashore prior to sea for skills consolidation. Getting posted to an ANZAC or any 'newer' class ship is a techo's dream, as the shit doesn't break down as much as in the old bangers.

Oh yeah, they'll also reckon ETs sleep alot too....

  • From a serving RAN officer, great vid, thanks for posting

  • The most top heavy, disorganised, unsatisfying wank off someone could ever do for a job. Run by wankers for wankers!!!!!!!

  • Deadset true brother... It's also the worst performing service out of the whole three as far as recruiting and retaining people. Want a better career, join RAAF or drop out of the shit puss altogether!!!

  • WITH OUT THE NAVY WE WOULD BE FUCKED

  • how do i was cutlery and dishes and a combat systems operator?

  • ????

Could you rephrase that a bit better buddy!

  • ok i meant.. how do i wash cutlery and dishes as a combat systems operator

  • It's only one duty that you'll do once you've completed training and posted to ship. You see in the Navy you've got both your normal job (in this case CSO job) as well as other ancillary duties that everybody else does whilst posted onboard (mainly when the ship is at shore). This could include anything from grinding rust/painting, berthing party, cleaning, gangway duty (standing under a hut for six hours at a time and answering phone calls - fucken shit), washing dishes and alot more else.

  • so cso wash dishes? when do they actully combat system operate?

  • Why the fleet even bothers with the F89 for FP protection is beyond me. If your going to face boghammer threats, .50 is your least viable option.

  • Isn't it amazing, that any country with the Union Jack(British flag) in the corner of it's flag, they never encounter a threat to their country!!FACT.That's because would be agressors know that the Union Jack is a protection...........the United States and Great Britain would be dragged in to any war to protect any country with the British flag in the corner!Look what happened with the Falkland Islands...........US/UK co-operation all the way through!

  • The exception to this is the Union Jack in the corner of the Fijian flag.....They are a threat to themselves! Those idiots needed us to go sort out their problems, and it cost us lives when an Army Blackhawk ended up in the drink.

Also, would the US step in if anyone ever posed a threat to little old Montserrat? Somehow I doubt the Union Jack in the corner of their flag would be enough to sway the Yanks into helping.

  • You DUMB SHIT who came to defend AUSTRALIA in Singapore FUCKING NOONE we held our own. Papua New Gunieu FUCKING NOONE get your fact straight DUMB SHIT before you mouth of my country. Noone helped us in WW2 we were helping everyone else we invaded Gallipoli while we defended our own doorstep at the same time. If you ever pay out my country again I'll find you FUCKSTICK.

  • u serious mate? in WW2 we invaded gallipoli? did u go to school? for someone so proud of their country you seem to know very little about it or its history...

  • dont do it!!!!

  • u r my young we tell u what to do or what not to

  • This is a great video. I admire those who serve in the Australian navy, army and air force so very very much.

  • yea thats about the only part im not looking forward to.. i like my hair! ive passed all my interviews. going in as an aviation technician in avionics.

  • my bros in the raaf (royal australian air force..)well in training. i'm thinking about joining the navy when i'm old enough.. or become navy pilot..

  • hey mate.

Ive just passed my joes day. and have been assigned my case manager. My first preferance was avionics technician in avionics.

I was just wondering if you can give me some insight on your assesment day and some general interview tips? Would be greatly appreciated..

Im only 16 and 1/2 .. so if i pass my assesment in afew weeks I still have to wait till october to get enlisted.

    cheers.

  • im joining can anyone tell me the haircut rules like wat kind of hair are u allowed to have

  • When you first go in guys will be given a complete No.2 shave while the women have thier hair short and neat. after that you must keep it in clean and operable state, you dont always havw to have a buzz cut

  • a number 2

  • a number 2

  • The equipment is medicore

  • Yeah it is!!!

Having completed my four year stint recently, I found alot of equipment onboard most ships and the ships themselves fairly anitquated and outside their used by date.

As an old saying in the puss was

'Doing more with less'.... How very true that was!!!!!

  • i wanna be a combat systems operator, anyone tell me what its like im only 13 but navy sounds really awesome job

  • The pride of the Royal Australian Naval Emblem... Wombat (and the Bear)plus(Mark D D Easton) R117864 HMAS Suppl;y...Hmas Brisbane... HMAS Stuart, Hmas' Cerberus, Watson,Penguin and Nowra....1976-1981 V G * Scar and Bar Sir... to my Capt, R M Baird 1976 -1981 (Commander HMAS Brisbane 1978-1981) My commanding officer. I salute you,as I do, and have done and will do again Mr Baird, Ive no need to ask you, why am I tired ?

  • get it right~the amis have the numbers but always feed from its anglo past.the anzacs were outstanding in ww2,earning a worldwide reputation as the desert~rats, let alone its valor in gallipoli, north africa, italy, burma, and the european campaigns,a highly trained, tough and deteremined ally!

  • dude fuck the queen be proud of Australia though because it is the envy of the world, I'm a pro republican and we should have a resident for president to replace the governor general, queen and prime minister. Perhaps PM Kevin Rudd will go for presidency in his 2nd term, anyway Australia owns!

  • "God save the queen and the aussie land"

  • Wow, that looks cool.. shame I'm not Australian..

Why are there no jetplanes that can land /take off on water?

  • because theres no such thing... there are planes that can do that but not "jet" planes as you say.

  • hmm, Q:"why aren't there any" ... A:"Because there aren't" fair dinkum :)

  • Well im nearly finished at school and im joining the navy straight after. Feel free to discuss it with me and send comments

  • because we need more ppl to man r new warships

  • Keep in mind that the US Navy intentionally mans their ships with more people than necessary. In case of trouble, there are always extra bodies around to keep the ship in the fight.

  • No champ I'm not a woman. I'm being what's called impartial and fair. What I was pointing out in saying that was that other counrtries certainly do know we can kick some serious arse if we need to.

  • r u a women or something

  • You gotta remember Ed the RAN is significantly smaller than the USN or RN. Besides It's not necessarily the quantity that makes an amr of the defence force good but it's quality. The other comments show how much respect other countries have for the RAN. Lets show them the respect they deserve.

  • and the new aircraft carriers are called Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carriers not going to be that great 4 one u could just buy a smaller one like Canberra class which australia is getting hopefully going to be a aircraft carrier u could get 5 or 6 4 the same prices as 2 Queen Elizabeth.

  • Nope the australian navy is way better smaller but better the type 42 destroyers suck and the new 45 are not going to be that great the Anzac or Adelaide are way better ships. $ one the new subs u are talking about are called the Astute class and 4 one they are based on a german model and by the look of them going to be shit 4 the prices tag.

  • when i went to england i saw one of hose astute class subs in the bay, they canceld its water diving test because there was a leak. lol

  • I have alot of repect for australians, but the truth is Britain's Navy is the next best thing to the American navy. We have the history and experience to prove it. Britain spends more on it's militery then australia and is even constructing the next generation in British Royal Navy aircraft carriers/destroyers with a new futuristic nuclear submarine which was finished and started service only a 1-2 months ago. Australian Navy is good though.

  • Australian navy is way better than the british the royal Australian navy ship's are the safe's in thw world and the Australian's are better people so yea go the royal Australian navy YEA!!!!

  • Australian Navy is way better? Nope. Australians are better people? You are funny. Any mature person would know that you get good and bad people in every country.

  • If the RAN is so good why do they advertise every month in the RN newspaper for people to go over there?

  • Maybe it's the same reason why they're always advertising exchange from the RAN to the RN or USN or the RNZN in the Navy News

  • @NAVY76 haha that is laughable. The Royal Navy would abliterate the Australian Navy within a matter of hours. No match whatsoever. Not to say the Australian's aren't good though

  • @CityPuncher18 That was a insult to us Australian's on that last part you said..

  • @CityPuncher18 your an idiot mate, were allies, why are we criticizing each other? get over ya self.

  • @CityPuncher18 how can you say the aussies are no good when we followed your countries every command at the beaches of gallipoli and lost thousands of men due to your country being to pussy and getting our men to fight your war whilst your bitch country sat on stooles and chairs on a beach around the corner and drank cups of tea

  • The RAN....still a real Navy.

  • Which navys better british or australlian?

  • does it really matter? australia has a population of 20mil while britain has 60mil. The more ppl the bigger the armed forces. its simple

  • china has a huge army, but USA would still kick their ass... its not the size that matters

  • you really think so? the way that chinese ecomony is booming? china is probably USAs most feared rival

  • yeah mate id still bet USA would give em a run for their money

  • if size dont matter Australia would own all

  • I thinking about going in as a MT im not sure yet have not made up my mind yet my dad is a LT in the navy.

  • On behalf of the cadets at T.S Tingira based out of H.M.A.S Cerberus i'd like to say good job on the video and hope to meet you at a posting one day

  • thax a lot mate i hope to see you to im going to H.M.A.S Curberus when I join the navy look ford to seeing you out on the sea or some where.

  • Yeah same goes for me :P. What are you going to

join as? Im planning on becoming an Observer. They are basically the co-pilot in Helicopters and are in charge of everything that goes on up there :D.

  • i am only 13 but i wanna join the royal austrlian nave as a macanic. any tips, and also is it rly worth it? i mean i wanna get out and see the world an all but c,mon we are a military

  • I am currently a recruit at H.M.A.S Cerberus. I am now in my fourth week and am loving it. I will be doing my E.T Cat course here too.

    Krout

  • Im a Naval cadet, you should make one encouraging people to join up to that too

  • yeah Im a navy cadet to mate from Brisbane we are not able to make videos about eny Australian defence force cadets because of copyright and so on all the legal stuff so yeah i would but we can't do it.

  • really? i didnt know that. That kinda sucks. What unit you at? im at T.S Bundaberg

  • Im from T.S Puluma in Brisbane cadets from our unit have been to your unit for stuff like the PO course and yeah.

  • no not at this time I try and make one with HMAS Manoora. thank you

  • do you have any clips that show Manoora???

  • great clip...dont the juniors look like kids...but as I said excellent clip...

  • Thats because they basically are kids. There are quite a few people that join up to the navy when they drop out of Grade 10.

  • God bless the Aussies, the Brits, and the Americans, everyone
