They and Code Pink are 2 organizations I have immense respect for, because they more than any other organizations are trying to fight the apathy of the American people about our wars of criminal aggression. I was fortunate to meet Aaron Hughes and four other members of IVAW in Chicago. They were all very interesting to talk to, very intelligent, personable and compelling. I encourage everyone to check out their website. These are brave, ethical people who care, have seen firsthand the horrors occurring in this war and know the pointlessness of it all. They are to be applauded for getting the word out and trying to educate Americans. They are heroes in every sense of the word.

FYI, I was USAF aircrew on E3-bravos and charlies. Served from Oct '98 to Oct '02. I was flying over NYC/DC on 9/12/01 on the first AWACS sortie of ONE. Prior to that I did a tour of OSW in 2000 and wrapped it up with two tours of OEF in '02. But I guess none of my service counts for shit in your eyes since the guys at MEPS suggested (based on my asvab) that I go into intel/surveillance???

I encourage everyone to check out their website. These are brave, ethical people who care, have seen firsthand the horrors occurring in this war and know the pointlessness of it all. They are to be applauded for getting the word out and trying to educate Americans. They are heroes in every sense of the word.

yes, it should, it's an invasion and an ocupation, the war is ilegal, United Nations is very clear about that. wars are ilegal with two exceptions: self defense or Council authorisation. USA signed the UN charter and the constitution says that anything signed becomes as equal as US constitution ergo if the council doesn't authorise it the war is ilegal. When these heroes returned they saw how the media portrays Iraq and they realized that the US population sees next to NOTHING of what actually goes on there. They're showing the brutality of occupation since Americans will never feel what that it is like. If war should not be seen by civilians or children, than we should not be starting illegal wars based on lies---935 lies (at least). The US is second only to china in incarcerations per capita, and we're #5 after China and 4 other police states in terms of executions per capita. Wake up about human rights, man. I don't know that people do or should understand the reality of war "the moment they sign up" but the certainly do once they're deployed to one. Yes, it is a fact that Soldiers deploy to fight a war, and that is the sole purpose of them deploying but has does it follow that after their deployment they shouldn't engage in the type of government that we maintain a military in order to defend?

Most Americans, those who haven't sought to educated themselves outside of the corporate media, don't have a clue about what it's like on the ground in Iraq. I am a conservative and I still support the war in Iraq, but I must admit that the IVAW is a top notch political organization and I have nothing but respect for it. The manner they got peoples attention is both unique and highly effective. It brings the harshness of the war to the civilian populace here, who are so safe in this oasis of peace called America. I am glad to be in a nation where people can protest like this. I don't agree with what the IVAW, but its all good to me.
