im trying to get turntables tht dnt cost to much and a mixer im a beginer and i need records can i just plug it into my computer open up a program and spin or not
Serato scratch live would be the way to go if u wanan use a program to mix n spin with, u will also build an understanding much quiker by reading the beats in the waveformations:)
But what I must do, when the hole in the record is bigger then normal ? It's bigger because i scratch very long. I've tried put some a lil piece of material into the hole and then put it on the turntable, but its no use :(. The worst thing is that the needle is skipping when scratch. I don't know how q bert is using one record to scratch for over 15 years and his needle is not jumping and skipping. Please help me =[
What I've done before is just use a piece of paper about 1/8 of an inch wide by like 2 inches long and slide that through the hole and fold it. If it is still loose on the spindle fold the paper so it gets thicker until you get the hole to your standards.
i usually get some cousre sand paper (80 grit) what i mean by course its more rough than 1000 grit which is fine enough to rub your hand on. if you roll it up (to about the thickness of a pen) put it thought the hole and spin the record it opens up nicely. test your record everytime to not over do it. or you could use a pen hahaahah
hi, just so long as th turntables are directdrive you should be ok, 50 vinyl records is a start , but you will find yourself buying more again soon after, good mixers are pioneer, technics, x zone , vestax to name a few. all the best johnathan
Truly amazing stuff, maybe you could do a series, starting with how to change a toilet roll. It's quite annoying the way they never give detailed instructions when you purchase those dam things.
well that is hardly rocket science! why has this got a 4 star rating and an honour??? no offence but all you did was jab a pen in a record with a small hole. why am i still here???
i just rubbed an exacto blade on the inside of the hole on my green vinyl syd barrett LP that didn't fit. worked, and only took two seconds to figure out. not a whole video for ford's sake
A small, round file works better. You can get it exactly the size you need it and completely avoid wobbling. Who wants to be making sure there's a piece of paper in the hole when they're at a club djing?
another problem can also be traced to the fact that the vinyl is not absolutely flat... I found some of my records to be beautifully slippery but when i play the other side it gets stuck... I found that the middle bit is slightly coned so if u play it with the coned bit pointing up you have a very sticky record which is not good... i haven't found any solution for that other than try bending it the opposite way which is not nice but does help a wee bit.
Man, i've experienced this problem too... I've herd some advice, wich says to place the slippery Vinyl between to glasses wich size covers the whole vinyl from each side. And then hold it on heave sun (at noon maybe) about 2 1/2 minutes... wich is not damaging the vinyl.. I haven't tries it yet.. Maybe Jonathan can help! REspect!
Ahh thanks, I've got a record that does that, but being a fav old skool tune I didn't want to have a go at botching it but... may give it a go :)

I know this trick, thanks. Ya know what Technics did with the newer breed of SL-1200 turntables?
The actually profuce SL1200's now with a smaller spindle!!!
Now Im not too amused by that, cuz now all my battlerecords who fitted perfectly forst on all ther SL12's I came across, now fot too loose.
Thank you for that Technics.. I thought Technics never could go wrong... After 20 years they proven me wrong.

Great tip! Do you think it's the vinyl that causes the tightness or is it the paper sticker?
briansredd 5 years ago
It's the vinyl, you find that the hole is a fraction to small.
