Actually for an all around street bike it is better, if you just want a higher top speed the R1 is obviouslly faster, but this one will out corner almost any bike on the planet!

i wudnt suggest the 08 r6 is better than any previous ones tbh. the first r6 98 was a revoloution for race bikes. and in fairness the 08 r6 isnt quite as good lucking. i use to work for yamaha they r all awesom machines have 1 my self. who needs an r1 when uve got that.

I JUST BOUGHT ONE YESTERDAY! 2008 LIQUID SILVER! i got my headlights tinted yellow, racefit slash-cut exhaust, undertail eliminator, front amber signals turned to small led, and thats all.... 2008 is a much better machine than the ones prior.

well, the r1 is a monster! have the power from 3000 rpm to 13000 rpm....the r6 power start at 7-8000 rpm and go to 16000 rpm....you can try the fun with r6 more of r1!! because is more small. but if you are a good biker, you can try more power with r1.....only on the track!! bye bye!
