Excellent work Mitch, the driver must really appreaciate the help when he has a lot of stops with waste that sometimes needs to be hand loaded and the heavy bins need to be wheeled out to the truck. How many bins/stops can this truck hold?
Thanks, yer always nice to have some help on a busy day. Too hard to know how many bins/stops this truck holds - all comes down to the type of materials getting loaded and how many of each of the types of bins are collected (with Doyles it can be anything from hand loading to 3m's).
Not really sure to be honest, the interest has always been there... so just going to follow it up. With the trucks, I'd say what gets me interested is the sound, size, power and the engineering.
haha It'd be great to get some real funny things on film. Eg. someone getting sprayed with garbage juice - will most likely be me, had many close calls with the other truck, reckon it's almost time to happen to again (gulp) :)
Excellent job! 5* How often do you get to work on a truck?
Video suggestion: Not sure if you've tried this yet... but you could hang your camera inside the top of the tailgate pointed down into the hopper and show a birds eye view of some bin dumping and packing. (Assuming you have some space in the tailgate to work with)
Ohh I jump on a truck whenever I get the opportunity, most commonly on the holidays of course.
I'd like to try that angle, just have to analyse the upper parts of the tailgate for a potential mounting. Just might be a bit tricky getting it up there + positioning it correctly so it doesn't fall down in the middle of a pack cycle :) Something to work on though...
here's an idea that would be hard to accomplish... unless you got lucky... I wanted to try this:
if you have an older camera, it's a dry day, you happen to be on a truck that has a larger sweep blade on the packer AND you can attach your camera to the sweep part of the blade without destroying it, (some trucks have rings that stick out from the blade) you could show the packers point of view as it crushes garbage (but you'd have to be very careful and not accidentally smash your camera)
Well I must say I love those suggestions! Unfortunately as for the ones in the first reply at the top, these Doyle Bros trucks don't actually have any steps (which is a pain in the arse). Then when it comes to mounting the camera somewhere on the packer/bins, I'd be a little nervous when the thought of the camera falling into the hopper and getting reduced to nothing, if luck turns me down. I'll definitely have a go at that first suggestion of yours above - thanks for the suggestions!!!
Well, if any other ideas cross my mind... I'll drop you a line. The only other thing I can think of is a close up "How to" on how the tipper works. Don't think I've seen any good up close videos on how that type of tipper locks onto the bins as it dumps them. Good luck with future videos! I hope I've sparked some ideas for you!
Yes that would work great! I'd like to see the lifter as it grabs the bin too... because i know there's a piece that locks the bin to the lifter... but I've never seen it locking onto the bin. Thanks!
I just took a quick look through my past videos and I found one that has a lot of operator POV / lifter close-ups in it. Search for a video titled "Getting Full" which runs for 7:40. In the first clip you get ann idea of how the clamping system works, then if you go to 4:50 you get a better view. I'll still get a video for you soon focusing on the lifter.
Mmm... well I haven't removed any comments from this video apart from my own here and there. My guess is that YouTube's screwing around or that it wasn't posted properly?
Its probably youtube.Cause it was posted properly.I had asked if you had taken a part time summer job on this truck? But its no big deal. Thanks anyway!!
Ok, well I haven't taken a summer job on the truck, still too young to be in this industry unfortunately. I can tell you getting a job on the trucks would be one of my wishes if I had some :) Got about 2 years to wait until I can do this where I earn an actual wage...
suggestions? chicks on the beach while a trash truck is going by! More Heil 4000 and the phoenix rear load on a bulk day! 2 stars plus a aussie bonus of 3 more!
Thanks. Some bins can be heavy as hell, but there are some nice light ones. Good example of heavy was that 240L full of glass in the last clip, and yes this was recycling. You should feel some of the bins the driver on the wet-waste run has to move!!!

other ideas...
is to attach your camera to the rear riding step and record the truck dumping out
attach the camera to the cab, or get the driver to point it toward the back and get video of yourself riding on the back
you could attach your camera to the cart/bin handles and show it being dumped
