how did you chop the sample and assign it to a pad? , im still having a hard time with my mpc 500. I usually record the sample but after that I don't know how to assign each part of the sample to a pad. what should I do?

read the manual.

you can chop it on the computer and load each sample to a pad on program mode.

or you can record a sample and chop it in trim mode and save the pieces as samples and assign each to a pad on program mode.

but the only way you will be able to be comfortable with the mpc is if you either read the manual, or you mess with it for years
