  • BRILLIANT!

  • I can hear influences of Portished and Janis Joplin. Love the Jazz, blues rhythms and excellent vocals. Kudos , <3

  • @GEMTinaWilson A good Two others, who I enjoy. But this live track still gives me goosebumps whenever I view it again.... Talent is hard to come bye... We should treasure all of them.

  • I have never heard it... I liked it!! =)

  • Marvelous Melody Gardot singing with great musicians.

  • @JabalSabah obviously you have no taste in music...

  • @JabalSabah Do you have any pubic hair?

  • @BapplePie Yes. Would you like some? I could send you some if you like. You could make a little Hitler 'tash for yourself

  • @JabalSabah Stupid.

  • 24 dislikes? That's kind of weird, i wonder how those 24 people justify hitting the thumbs down icon for this video, i mean is there far better music out there? if so, post a link or video reply :)

  • Does she have anything that doesn't look like it was recorded on a low definition Eastern European cellphone made out of wood?

  • trumpetplayer doesnt look like on purpose ;)

  • The 20 dislikes are justin bieber fans :-D

  • It's a seven or eight string guitar. The bottom strings are indeed bass strings, and he is, in essence, playing guitar and bass simultaneously--quite a feat. The frets are angled to compensate for the highly varied weights and thicknesses of the strings.

  • That's a serious beard

  • Great bass guitarist playing with a Novax fan fret guitar. You can't do that with a Fender Strat. Great job on this song for Melody Gardot.

  • what a sexy song! ;)

  • Marvelous Melody Gardot and wonderful song :-) merci beaucoup :-)

  • Charlie hunter on guitar/bass there

  • to Kyli: it's a bass not a guitar...

  • outch... trumpet is too flat at 0:14

  • @jurahure I am pretty sure that the sound is on purpose to achieve a bluesy, back alley feel to it.

  • @NotPopSean Could someone tell me what the name of this show is???

  • I'm writing this from the floor.

    I'm still knocked out.

    OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Melody give me goosebumps!

  • what kind of guitar is that?

  • So, why has she a stick to lean on?

  • @StanleyDonwood it´s because of the car accident she had

  • If they made a "Who Framed Rodger Rabbit 2", Jessica Rabbit should sing a Melody Gardot song.

  • I want to dive into that mans beard and chill out in it.

  • never saw a bass and a guitar in one! great

  • wer so was nicht mag der versteht musik nicht

  • das lied ist cool hihi lol

  • holy crap thats guitar and bass at one guitar! 10 string guitar!

  • Eine Stimme die Gänsehaut verursacht.....

  • I've never seen a guitar like this before. Eight strings; three bass on top, five guitar on the bottom, and the frets aren't parallel. Looking at a wiki link for Charlie Novak gives more detail about this custom made guitar. And yes, her voice and music is truly amazing.

  • i would kill to see her eyes^^

  • Holy beardet man , i love her voice !

  • Wow she has the same colour like Grace Slick in her voice

  • die hoe hat sone stimme wenn ich besoffen bin und lalle

  • 2 Weeks ago we have been to her concert and it was just amazing, faszinating and absolutely WOW....last 20 minutes standing Ovation and goose Pumps

  • i would spank to her music

  • As far as frets go, give it up; this is an amazing singer with great back up, that's it!

  • genial...

  • Shes loven sunglasses? Could that be?

  • @MultiILoveMusik wiki says she was in an auto accident that left her sensitive to light in her left eye. Love the song.

  • @MultiILoveMusik she need it because she had an accident and now she is light-sensible/sensitive (dont know how its called in english)...

  • this is awesome shit

  • She have a beautiful and soft voice

  • That is what is known as COOOL

  • What a babe. She's right on top of it.

  • Why is everyone talking about the frets and not about that sweet beard the guitarist is rocking?

  • @bobjohnson513 thats a bassist

  • @bobjohnson513 I wish I could grow mine like that!!!

  • wow what a woman... such a great voice. i could drink some JD and sit back and just listen to her for hours

  • my friend from high school saw melody last year and signed her name in local wet concrete on the way home...i love this song, its my current obsession x

  • Merci beaucoup pour cette magnifique chanson.

  • Smooooth as silk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Melody reminds me of one of my favorite singers, Eva Cassidy.

  • She doesn't really remind me of Eva Cassidy, different styles and voices, but they both have transcendent voices and big time soul.

  • every minute GOD sprinkles stardust ! very soothing music...just nice to listen in a very cold rainy night...

  • Funky smooth. Work it baby girl. 5 Stars.

  • Now here is a sure cure for stress and headaches ! turn off your mind, relax and float downstream w/Melody...I am!

  • great performance ..

  • Comment removed

  • very very sweet music with a very big voice!!! easy to enjoy...

  • Very nice.

  • There's not even a little implication of strain in her voice, that's so lovable!

  • smooooooooth... aaaaah....

  • i like her voice

  • Soulful, beautiful voice.

  • I absolutely love her voice! :)

BTW, Is it just me, or are the frets on that guitar set diagonally...?

  • fanned fret guitar

  • @KYLYKaHYT Yes they are, I believe those are called fanned frets.

  • What are "fanned frets"?

  • @KYLYKaHYT : It looks to me as if they radiate outwards from the guitar side to the bass guitar side to accommodate the bass's longer strings - a very unusual instrument - combination bass/guitar - anybody know what it is?

  • @rjthmson110253 : Since my last posting here I've learned from a friend that the instrument in question is a Novax Fanned-Fret guitar / bass system. And yes, it is definitely an interesting and unusual instrument. :)

  • @KYLYKaHYT : Thanks

  • @KYLYKaHYT It's not so much as to acomodate the strings...it has something to do with intonation. There are also guitar bridges specially for that build and i have heard of only one man that did this kind of thing. I was once at his website but that was 3 or 4 years ago.

  • @KYLYKaHYT It's also a guitar/bass hybrid

  • @KYLYKaHYT Yep, the frets are slanted to compensate for the longer scale length on the bass-side of the guitar. :)

  • @KYLYKaHYT Wow, yes, they are! It's a bass/guitar. I've never seen anything like it.

  • @KYLYKaHYT

They are fanned frets. Many other guitarists, such as Andy McKee and Don Ross, have used fanned frets on their guitars. This helps in intonation of the instrument, and overall keeps the instrument in tune as you progress higher up the fretboard. It works like a piano. The strings in the piano are differently shapped from each other, as the higher note strings are shorter than the lower note strings. The fanned frets imitate this, in order to produce an overall better sound.

  • @KYLYKaHYT Does anyone know what that guitar is?

  • @KYLYKaHYT It's a bass. And yes, they're fanned out. It's called, ironically, a fan-fret bass. It's a custom style that allows stranger tunings and more flexibility for a skilled player.

  • @crimson713 It's not only a bass but a combination of guitar and bass. I think this is custom-made and one of a kind and so surely there's no name for it

  • @FrancescoGuardi Hm, didn't realize that. I've seen fan-fret guitars and fan-fret basses, but never both on the same instrument. That's...kind of awesome.

  • @crimson713 Awesome indeed...May it's comparable to the Chapman-stick which has 10 strings( 4 bass +6 guitar) or more. It's played like a tapping guitar but the frets are not fanned

  • @FrancescoGuardi I've never heard of fan-fret guitars before seeing this video but think it is a Novax Charlie Hunter Solidbody 8-string. Way beyond my skills needed to play one.

  • @KYLYKaHYT : It is a Novax guitar...like the one that the amazing Charlie Hunter has made famous. It has 3 bass strings and 5 guitar strings...you got to be a bit of a monster to play them...but the angled frets are because of the intonation and tension. And yes, Ms. Gardot is the best thing since sliced bread. *slobber*

  • @fujimo Does anyone know what the name of this show is or where I can find video or audio of her performing this song with the trumpet/horn in the beginning? Because I don't believe that the horn is on the album version of this song.

  • @fujimo And she learned to play it flat on her back, recovering from a horrible accident.

  • @KYLYKaHYT

It seems to be a guitar and bass in one. very cool. I want one! :-)

  • @KYLYKaHYT I see that too. Very weird.

  • cool - klasse stimme - klasse arrangement...kompliment. - favoritenliste- smile

  • spectacular

  • I'm in love with her as well. She is perfect.

  • i'm in love with her! she is just fantastic!

  • ablolutely!

  • why is she wearing sunglasses?

  • She was hit by a Cherokee Jeep that ignored a red traffic light a few years ago. In the accident she suffered serious head injuries that made her sensitive to light and that's why she wears those dark glasses. Besides that, her pelvis was shattered in two places and she had severe spinal injuries and couldn't walk for almost a year.

  • oh... thanks.

  • someone said thah BONO was sensitive to light also. but even if it wasn´t so. if she wears glasses cause she wants to, what would be the problem?

  • simmer down please! I was just curious. No need to get defensive.

  • because the sun is shining... :D

  • melody at her best.... she's incredible.

  • She is a fav of mine ....... Luv her music !!!!!

  • its a novax guitar. fanned frets. supposedly much more natural a play for your hand, after taking a little bit of getting used to. they are pretty rare i guess i've only seen this guy use one and john mayer uses one sometimes. sooo cool!!

  • wtf is with the guitar frets? I totally don't understand.
