  • love ur fathers everyone, ... sadly today thier very UNDER valued in today's society.

Once there are gone, ... its just too late

  • i love it

  • Awesome. No more words to say.

  • I hope you also like my cover of this beautiful song...

  • from where is it

  • Amo a esta mujer :)

  • This makes me think of a dear friend who could benefit from RAINN's help. I hope someday she finds that help before it's to late. I love you K

  • she speaks while she is playing the piano. she plays the piano while she is speaking. every word one sound. amazing.

  • It feels like she's gently caressing the original song. This is the most beautiful version of winter I ever heard. Sadly it's her mourning that makes it perfect... :s

  • Ohh ya, I definitely feel it babe.Thank you :))))

  • She is so strong!

  • ONE OFF THE BEST SONGS EVER MADE!!!!!

    Love it for EVER!!!

  • such a raw emotional performance*_* I cried when I listened to this for the first time!

Musically speaking Tori Amos is the love of my life! Her music has made such a big impact on me and helped me through a really dark time in my life! I´ll always be thankful for that!

  • I lover her.

  • INCREDIBLE!

  • gotta love Tori, PURE EMOTIONS !

i was laying in bed with my laptop listening to this thru earphones. i didn't noticed my girl walking in the bedroom. when video end my girl said that she never seen something like this: big (6' 4") long bearded and haired naked guy crying, taking hits from the bong and doing a hysteric falsetto opera...

  • @TrvAryskNorsk What a horrid image! Now I'll have nightmares for weeks of the Creature From The Black Lagoon! Thanks for that...

  • @SLBON pure spiritual love can be shown in many different ways. even horrid creatures from the black lagoons go to pieces and nearly fall apart when Tori goes on with Her ART. the magic within IT could make solid stones burst into tears and even if you're an atheist you'll feel that something highly divine have hand in IT.

  • @TrvAryskNorsk atheists still feel and breathe life. Tori is amazing by the way.

  • Love the wave at 0:24 !

This lady is SO amazing. Her songs (my faves are this, Bliss, Crucify), when I listen to depressed, make me SADDER! Then make me feel great joy. I can't explain it. The greatest artists could always evoke emotions in us.

    K, i'll shut up now.

    (Tori is the BEST!)

  • I love this song so much and she's such a talented pianist

  • she is a beauty

  • She is so unique in so many ways!!

  • totally cool

  • why does she whisper the chorus ???? i want to hear it !

  • @ForestBreeze when you are about to cry your vocal chords are under to much pressure, Tori wouldn't have hit a note or wouldn't have been able to make a sound so she whispered instad of stopping to sing

A pure act of self control, every time she started to whisper she was close to total breakdown...

  • hearing all those live versions of winter on and on will make me a fag sooner or later. can't help it

  • @TheHitlerGuy hahahahahaha, Tru Say, brother

  • seeing the tears twinkelling in her eyes as she sings... thats what really got me.

  • there are moments i believe life is beautiful and among these very few moments i count tori amos (in particular this video), leonard cohen and most all my soulmate almasa

  • incredible. this song always makes me cry. I don't know how she EVER gets through this song without crying. this is very beautiful. I am grateful to her for her music. Thank you, Tori.

  • Wow when she said when you gonna make up your mind the first time it shot me right through the heart.

  • I know 100% what you mean there, I feel it everytime I watch this. 3:29 gets me as well.

  • @Snail1285

    5:00 - simply heart-wrenching, ... I am at a loss for words

  • her voice makes me shiver....always...this is a real masterpiece

  • Never get tired of listening to this song. And feeling the emotions......thnk you Tori

  • She is my favorite musician/performer, Tori Amos is absolutely brilliant!!!

  • Every time I hear this song, it feels like someone giving me a big hug saying that everything will be okay. I love a lot of music and I love a lot of Tori but I think Winter is my favourite song.

  • @Eponine24601 I feel the exactly the same way , I never get tired of listening to this song. Also Michelle Kwan also skated to this song back in 1997 , which is pretty worth watching. :))

  • @Eponine24601 i'd give you a big hug. the world seems to be in short supply. however i anticipated this and put all of mine in storage to sell on ebay. i hope you are feeling great.! a fan of tori is afan of mine. *big hug* .

  • @Eponine24601 What a beautiful way to put it. I have painted a scene that comes to my mind when I hear this song and wrote her lyrics over the top of that. When I first heard it I pictured not me and my dad, but me and my grandpa, who had passed shortly before (didn't get into Tori until high school). Then when I played it in the car for my mom, she said "Wow, that song's about your dad and you, isn't it?" and now they're both present in my mental music video.

  • I'm probably going to get slammed here, and granted she is an amazing singer/song writer, but I wish sometimes her delivery wasn't so emotional because it's hard to understand the words, which are so beautiful and important. I guess you have to listen hard and long enough to understand her diction. She really is a profound poet though...I think the strength of her performance rides on that.

  • @PotentM But you don't necessarely have to listen to the words during a concert. I think it's not primarily about that. :) You can listen to the album for thw words. No?

  • Snow is throwing itself down outside my window right now as i'm listening to this..woow...

  • a-mazing

  • I love this song.... she is fantastic....

  • the music and the lyrics are perfect. speaks of emotions so many people can relate to

  • For me it is the best live version of this song... so emotional, so powerful, so touching, so amazing...

    Tori Thank You for This.

  • makes me cry

  • This is one of the most moving performances I have ever seen.

  • Wow there are some random comments on this video...

Beautiful song. She seems quite sad in the RAINN concert.

  • Makes me think for my friend who has gone to South Africa, makes me cry

  • may i illustrate commental 67 ... hmmm ... it is indeed georgious as someone articulates so profound and .. in T.i.me ... W ~double me ~in ~TerRa ...

    TeaRs'... S'ace

  • I love Tori. What wonderful artist! Always different, fresh and artistic!

  • I've never seen her perform until this video. She is absolutely gorgeous! And this song makes me cry!!

  • I actually supprot your post. Mostly because it shows the kind of person that doesn't appreciate this type of music and this type of artist. Why don't you do something better with your time like going to a Creed concert or a TNA wrestling show. She's amazing. And the fact that anyone is affected by her art is the best argument in its favor. You don't get it, too bad. You post this bile... go die. I'm just happy that your daughters (if they are yours) seem to be better off than you.

  • She is amazing, I agree. I have been a fan for years. Though not a Creed fan at all, I am a fan of TNA wrestling, please do not assume all fans of wrestling are the same uncultured jerk-offs. (Not saying you were assuming this of course). When lightning is caught in a bottle once every so often, professional wrestling can be a beautiful performing art albeit a one different from what most people consider art to be. Nothing personal just glad someone else knows about TNA.

  • Wow. You're an idiot.

  • yes thank you, and so is every one else.

  • If I were you, I'd start slowing down on booze and dope, buddy, coz nothing sensible comes out of that mouth of yours

  • Wow she almost starts crying. She's so beautiful.

  • I can't stop listening to this song.

The beauty of this song is the emotion it brings. Tori is awesome, especially in this video.

"You say that things change my dear...

    Never change"

  • have to agree with everyone...I cannot listen without crying my eyes out...

and as a singer...I have to agree that she is close to losing 'it' at so many points...you cannot sing a note if you cry ...it makes your vocal chords all hard and you can't make a peep...

    lovelovelove

    x

  • As vrea sa dedic aceata melodie Georgianei M. :)

  • Tori speaks directly to my heart.. And I have to admit that I am a demanding listener..

It's not just the inspiration of the music, not the lyrics, not her voice, not the performance.. It's everything!!

    *

  • One of my favourite songs, don't know why.

  • I can't listen to this song without crying.

  • She's fucking great!

  • No other musical artist has made me sob the way she can! This version is extra sad.

I remember when this originally aired on tv, I RUSHED to put a tape in my vcr.

  • this is my favorite song by tori amos. and THIS performance is just so heart wrenching....wow i havnt cried like this in a while...i love her

  • Oh my, she was definatley about to cry.. You could see her try to dround out the emotion for a few seconds

  • The live version of this song is astounding. I love it! Woohoo Tori!

  • amazing song

  • Powerful

  • A stunning song, so delicate and such an exquisite melody.

It sounds like it's about a daughters' relationship with her father through childhood to adulthood, beautiful!

  • years ago, i think it was in the early nineties, i saw michele kwan iceskating to this song...simply awesome

  • Think about someone who you love a lot, then think about some intimate moments you shared with this person. Now imagine you are sharing these intimate moments with a LOT of people through a song you have written and imagine that you feel it so deeply that you almost cry. Is she still weird?

  • very original singer. I like the expression of her face when she sings.

This song is best of her,I think. It is very emotional:) Simply awesome

  • Everytime I'm listening this song, I remember my husband toke me to her concert at Syracuse 2003 but now just only memories cause I never see my husband again cause he is in Boston and I'm in Indonesia. We seperated for almost five years now but...

Listening Tori Amos all her songs just makes me happy.

Love all your songs Tori Amos, You the BEST!!!

  • She is such an amazing musician! With the exception of her last record...It was a bit of a disappointment for me as a fan. But this...is perfect!

  • I wish I were like her. She's more than awesome. She's incredible, impossible, unbelievable and much more

  • hear hear neepuh..Showing understanding..That's cool :)

  • She is the first to admit that she has trouble remembering the words to her own songs. I really take no offense.

  • I don't know if you're a musician but when you write a song so delicate as is this it is very hard to sing it without completely crying... to me, it looks like she has just had something bad happen to her and is holding back tears, I do not know for sure, but it's a theory

  • She forgets the lyrics often but not the music...to me that is most impressive. I can hardly play simple songs let alone remember lyrics at the same time..shes got like 600 songs to remember with b-sides and covers, literally, I did the math one time. Its amazing she remembers what she does...

  • She suffered a miscarriage just 3 weeks before this show, so this is the reason why she was so emotional here. Plus, it was a benefit concert for the organisation RAINN she helped to fund and which helps survivors from rape and sexual abuse.

  • @ccilesatine I'm trying to imagine how it would be if I saw a performance of myself on youtube and some asshole would tell in the comments: "Ah ya she had a miscarriage, that is why she was all emo." Also I'll go buy a tabloid if I need to hear that.

  • @F00dTube I think you misunderstood my comment. Tori is my favorite artist. I didn't say she was "emo" just because of her miscarriage in a bad way. She doesn't need to have some terrible things in her life to sing with emotion and move you to tears. Though, when you know about the miscarriage (and she talked about it many, many times and at lenght over the years, so it's not disrespectful of her privacy to say that) and you watch the full show, this is quite obvious it had an effect on her.

  • I tell you that I'll always want you near

You say that things change my dear...

  • wow

  • Yep! I was kinda feel 'Wow' also when i read your comment on the previous video.. Did you really wrote that before watching this video?

And..yes, this live performance is also Wow indeed ;-)

  • absoltely beautiful

    she is genious

  • Anyone who loves this song should see this short film called '62 sleeps'. It's an australian short film (part of the dvd special features of the film 'Irresistable' with susan sarandon).

    I literally wept during that film at the thought of girls relationships with their fathers. It made me feel the deep importance of having my dad around and what it might feel like if things changed and i lost him. I just feel a strong connection between that film and this song. Worth watching (;

  • yeah shes crying---she had her first miscarraige not even a month prior.

  • c le olvido la letra -_-!

  • This song is so good that everytime I hear it it makes me think that if it isn't one of the greatest songs I've heard, then at least it makes me forget about all the ones I thought were great.

  • Did she forget the lyrics at some point...? The way she muffles the words, it sounds a bit like it.

And before you flare up: I love the song and I love her music. I simply don't like it when singers don't really pronounce the words. Especially when the lyrics are as important to the song as is the case for most Tori Amos songs.

  • its part of her expression. i agree with you though, the lyrics being clear is important.. but trust me, a lot of people in this audience are die-hard fans and probably know all the words.. lol

  • Hehe...well, I know them too. It's just very strange to me. I study singing and one of the first things I was taught was that it's crucial to sing clearly because in the ideal case, you're meaning the words or telling the story.

Then again, Tori Amos isn't exactly known as a conventional singer. :)

  • I don't agree that the lyrics being clear is important. The fact they blur, you could argue are the genius of how she manages to marriy the emotional with the intellectual. The emotional being the words you can't make out clearly; the intellectual being the ones you can.

She manages to marry the sound of her voice to the sound of the instrument in a way I've never heard so convincingly personal and seemingly pure.

I wish I could do what she does.

  • i disagree, because if most people could clearly understand the word she was saying, it brings a new level. her lyrics are very deep and intense, and it is a big part of what makes her songs. if you couldnt understand them at all people who don't look up the lyrics won't get all of it completely in an emotional sense.

  • xx902 sums up my opinion really, but we're on taste territory now so let's agree to disagree. :)

  • @refrmcetsryt i agree and it's great to see other share this point of view. i think in our times we place so much emphasis on this concept of intelligence and the need to intellectualize everything. we see it everywhere, people saying "i don't get it" when they see a scene from a movie, trying to be clever or witty in conversation instead of being able to relate. sanford meisner, a pioneer in american acting, understood the dangers of the head and how thinking gets in the way of art.

  • IMO, Tori live3s her music while she's performing it. Not only is she usually emotional during this song but, mentally, she's a little girl during this song. This song is told from the perspective of a much younger Tori and she taps into that when she plays it.

  • I think she was starting to cry, sweetie.

  • That's what I thought at first but... well, I'm having trouble understanding her right from the start.

It's ok though, I understand it's her (live) style and, well, art is very subjective. I just really like her lyrics and find it a bit of a pity that people who don't know the song won't be able to get its meaning really...

  • Is it just me or does the way she sing this song make you feel sad?

  • beatiful voice

  • they dont make them like this anymore

  • Afieromeno sthn Eva mou!! ;P

  • Tyxerh h Eva sou... ;-)

    Excellent performance.

    *SWEEEEEEEEEET*

  • holy shite, she's awesum.....what a voice, what a face! jeeez0z christ!! gotta love this gal!

  • I love, love, love this song!

  • This song makes me miss my dad so much..

  • (same here...)

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • pure genius !
