Wow, Win's best live vocal i've heard. Which is funny, because it was also on Jools that I heard James Murphy's best live vocal during I Can Change. Something in the water there eh.
Arguably one of my favorite bands of all time! Pathetically, I just started listening to there music about 3 months ago...better late than never! What a breath of fresh air!
@jmaki814 I know what you mean. I had never listened to them before, but now after about a month of listening to their songs, they're my favorite band.
@thenurispunk The .members of Arcade Fire aren't natives of Quebec. Regine herself is Haiti, the rest are from through out the United States and Canada. The Butlers are from Texas.
@whochachi I'm a little bit disapointed that Arcade Fire have so much views. The quality of a band is not the number of views on Youtube, or the number of prizes (like this fucking Grammy that they should have refused). I really love this band because they make incredible songs and albums and they put so much passion in their shows. The problem is that this band (Win Butler mostly) takes too seriously this success (and things like number of views on Youtube maybe). (sorry for my english)
@petwin12 All I'm saying is that it's sad how so few people know about this band and just good music in general and instead listen to shit radio music like Bieber.
@whochachi Yeah, of course I understand completely. But Bieber sings for success, he has what he wants. Arcade Fire played songs for music (at the beggining) and now has a lot of success... when too much people know a band, it's difficult for a band not to become pretentious (U2 is a perfect example).
So, "it's sad how so few people know about AF" like you said, but it's a way to save the spirit of the band.
@petwin12 If you like a band, you like a band. I have loved them for seven years now..everything they have ever produced grows on me, and that isn't going to stop because they started to win awards, or more people are watching their videos. If you fell in love with the music in the first place..there is nothing anyone can do to take that away from you now is there? If you really want to save the "spirit of the band"...support them through thick and thin.
@petwin12 I understand what you're saying, but even though they are extremely successful they are still making beautiful music. And your English is fine, it's actually better than half of the people that live here.
This song brings a tear to my eye. It makes me feel so happy, yet kinda feels heartbreaking. Ohh, the emotion is too much for my little hormonal teenage soul.
quality song, quality recording. later with jools always produces near studio quality recordings! and people say the album is over produced, sounds the same live to me!
They're a band of multi-instrumentalists. The woman plays so many different instruments and she was delegated to drums on this track, I suppose. Not sure of the exact logic, but she's not just a drummer.
That's what I was saying. I meant I'm not sure what the exact logic of putting her on drums in this song, because two drummers aren't really needed in this song, but she does more than just drums in the whole scope of the band.
heard this the first time it was played on the radio on zane lowe's show. didnt really like it thou. now listening to it again i realise that it is a wonderful, beautiful peace of music
an upbeat song about a sad future...

This song reminds me of Tears for Fears, lyrically and to a much lesser but still 'there' extent, musically. In a good way, definitely.
