Heck at first i thought the Macross version dub was a piece of trash too, matter of fact i was super Pro Robotech. But i sat back and watched the Macross and I will say I miss the tony olivers and what not, But the Original version and Story of Macross makes waaaaaaaaaaaay more sense than the Robotech. Protoculture as a fuel never made any damn sense at all, neither did the flower of life. but whatever. I still love Robotech. But Give Macross its due Robo fans THis story is Genuine Greatness.

Us Macross fand will most likely say the same bad things about Robotech so stop complaining. Robotech is american and Macross is the original plot. The way the creator wants us to enjoy is MACROSS so stop saying which is better when they are 2 different series.

The visual is great, but after a few minutes i can watch no more... When Robotech first hit TV way back in the days WE would race home or friends house just to catch this fantastic masterpiece... if you new generation like it, great... For me the voice timing, intonation, moods, changed language.. all lack the depth and character of something that was grand.. If someone had the original sound, I would watch it again.

@Dawnlight1 Swearing (shit, specifically), smoking, drinking, opening theme, character names, voice actors, the female narrator in Macross versus the male in Robotech. And some subtle story and character changes that were to make it more friendly to the American after-school kid audience. Why the theme wasn't just remixed to English is beyond me. I like the original theme. I guess Harmony Gold felt it wasn't "warzy" enough, the new theme has a more military feel to it.

Just for the record, there is still smoking and drinking in Robotech, and the story and character changes were not supposed to make Macross kid-friendly, they were supposed to tie it together with Southern Cross and Mospeada. As for character names, several of them were not changed, and many of those that were were only slightly changed.

@TheBlazingkidtes In "Space Fold" (03:01) one of the girls on the bridge after hearing the VT-102 was piloted by Hikaru says "Oh, shit!". This was the second time I heard that type of swearing in this version. CRACKLE has the entire first season (all 36 episodes) uncut - It's called Macross and not the Robotech. I knew it was different when I heard the theme (which I love) and the female Narrator (which I also love). These changes make Macross nice to watch. "Both" are great.

@FighterPlaneAce Robotech is a compilation of 3 diff series, Season 1 is SDF 1 Macross, The other 2 were tied in via story line, TBH Robotech Should of Continued the story line of Rick Hunter Lisa Hayes and The Survivors of the First Robotech War. Robotech TMacross Saga Should of Continued beyond ep 1-36 and then THe Masters should of been introduced as a side storyline

@macross25 Rick (or Hikaru) is voiced by Vic Mignogna, and he's by no means "horrid", he's a fantastic and very popular voice actor. perhaps you're just too used to Tony Oliver's portrayal. The same can be said about Lisa (or Misa), as Monical Rial is another great actress, but her particular voice isn't for everyone's tastes.

The dubbing is excellent, but I wish certain characters would tone down their volume as I can't stand their excessive yelling and screaming especially the woman who yelled at the young pilot that failed to take off like he's supposed to. She would break her vocal cord if she keeps doing that.

Kind or ironic this episode has 2 english dub version's. The first was original the 1 back in the day when Macross was licensed by Harmony Gold and redubbed as Robotech. The final 1 is this 1 remastered as it was suppose to back in old days with different voice actors.

Its not necessarily a incoherent jumble but it isnt as bad as other animes. This was trying to seperate itself from macross and act as a independent series and story. Which is why some characters died who didnt die in the original version among other things. Like i said robotech as a story aint bad. I like robotech and i like the original macross. I'm talking more of the transition between series and how character development in the Robotech version was sacrificed for the sake of storyline. You will likely notice half of the minmay and (I inevitably refer to him as rick hunter since robotech was the first brush with macross I had) story had been cut down. However, in replacement, the series was expanded to 200 something episodes. They did the same thing with DBZ you will notice. Removed plot for action. I dislike such tactics.

@Gilmoreboy2007 P.S There is two version of Macross Frontier. The series itself and the movie version which is a remake of Macross Frontier. By my calculation, there is about three or four movies. The False Songstress is already out and can be found on Anime Movie Site.com. Second Movie comes out in March. Plus, Macross Frontier is basically a remodified version of Macross. They split one character into two people with different roles.

@Gilmoreboy2007 For example, Lt. Hayase was split into Sheryl Nome and Catherine Glass. Glass took Hayase's looks while Sheryl took Hayase's role as the main pilot's lover. Claudia Lasalle was split into Klan Klan,Bobby Margot, and Catherine Glass. Bobby have Claudia's looks except he became a guy, and Catherine took Claudia's role as Ozma's Lover, plus Klan Klan took the role of Claudia as the one who lost a lover. Focker is obviously Ozma. Alto is obviously Hikaru, and Ranka is Minmey.

LOL, Also, Focker's and Hayao's Death Role was combined into only one person, Michel who basically died for the cost of two people. Luca also became the new Hayao except alot different in looks and Personality. Basically Macross and Macross Frontier is really similar except they mixed everything up to make it original
