  • i always loved his method and practiced it in my workout, always been succesfull. great champ.

  • Great Stuff !

  • this is fun. if you do that i get your back and go night. night

  • oh man that hip check thing works so good.

one day i asked my teacher how to stop a takedown. I told him all the ways that i knew how to stop a takedown, spraw, shoulder check, pushing the head down, forward ect. He kinda looked at me and was like "okay, give me your best double-A "and i was like okay. So i gave him my best Double A and the i see a white flash. good times.

this technique is scary to use in sparring though

  • YEAH RIGHT!!! We all saw how good at avoiding take downs Frank is in that fight against Renzo! LOL It must be very simple to avoid them!!!

  • yea & renzo was so good at taking a knee to the dome...LOL

  • Yes IDIOT!!! The only problem is that there was a rule saying "NO STRIKES TO THE BACK OF THE HEAD!" while there wasn't any rules saying "NO TAKING YOUR OPPONENT DOWN!"!!! I feel bad for Shamrock he always gets dominated and try to find an easy way out of it, since the Pancrase days when he would provoke Bas Rutten till today!!

  • relax man...besides, the strike was at renzo's temple, not his back of his head. I do not know Frank or Renzo personally so why would I wish either one harm? The fact is yea he took him down, then got kneed in the temple in side control. Besides i thought MMA you just werent allowed groin throat or eye shots.

  • Man, you must be daydreaming!!! Both knees were CLEARLY to the back of Renzo's head and the problem was Herb Dean had already warned Frank in the 1st round when he punched the back of Renzo's head 12 times!! If you don't believe me, just watch that 1st round again paying more atention!!!

  • yeah it was to the back of the head. frank seems to get stuck wrestling on the ground a lot in that fight and his cocky attitude at the end when they announce the winner didn't save him any grace.

  • The Gracies are the ones who said that rules in the ufc nulified what they originally created a truly ultimate fighting Championship. so renzo shouldnt wine, its a fight frank won

  • this actually helped me during wrestling man. since im this girl thats sposed to wrestle at 98 but my coaches wont let me, so im in something 10 lbs heavier than me, 103, so im practically 93, when i sprawl, im too light.. so this actually helps me avoid their takedowns.

  • anyone saying this video is about being gay is definitely a homosexual/homophobe themselves, this video's about hurting your opponents, if fighting guys is gay then youre a bitch who fights girls. this is the shit, im a striker and my friends are all about groundworking, this video's got way effective moves that i knew naturally to shove my opponents faces into the grass/ground, HAH

  • U can tell who trains, and who doesnt just by tha stupid comments people leave...I would luv for any one of tha jackasses below that luv to talk shit to meet me in tha middle of tha cage...

    ThaSuper1 on my space

  • just an excuse to touch eachother.

  • lol. Although an avid MMA fan I still have to admit, this is one of the funniest/gayest vids I've ever seen

  • Frank Shamrock is not on steroids.

  • wow this must of been before he freaked out on steroids

  • This has nothing to do with Wang Chun, Wing Tsun or Ving Tung...

  • This video is crap

  • Just try and make a better video. Since you obviously have the level to criticize Shamrock, it should be piece of cake.

  • Hey, finally someone recognized a few wing chun points. You should see Master Mazza fightr a grappler/30 year JJ vet as he's done in his facility!

  • ANy of you guys have an opinion of CSW?

  • If gracie wanted to break the rules he could have kneed franks head 100x from side mount. He didnt. Shamrock took every opportunity he had to break the rules, and then still talks crap afterword. Great takedown defense frank you let a bjj player get u down over and over!

  • as long as there are rules and gloves, you'll never really know who will win in the streets. This is why endurance can outdo skill in the ring; gloves bounce off each other, etc..

  • obviously this didnt' work against renzo

  • goddamnit will you gracie dick suckers stop making this a family battle... renzo had takedowns and DID NOTHING WITH THEM EXCEPT EAT KNEES TO THE RIBS.

THIS IS NOT A BJJ COMPETITION SO FRANK HAD MORE POINTS.

  • obviously this didn't work against renzo.

  • I bet I can make a better tabouli salad than Mr. Big shot Frank Shamrock!

  • Be careful of the hip thrust, if you miss the head you're open to side clinch or body lock. The slide by is very effecitve, and if you learn how to trip, you can get a guy down very quickly with it. Guys like Ken Shamrock are true martial arts masters, not fraudulent kung fu "masters" who always get their asses kicked in fights. Good video and great instruction; reminds me of wrestling practice.

  • Though I agree with you on a lot of the fake Kung Fu "Masters" out there who have little experience.

I also think you should be careful on generalizing. There are few (and i mean far and few) experienced/open minded Kung Fu Sifu's out there who have experience in stuff like boxing/grappling and FMA. Just a note. Peace

  • Yeah, but then they're not teaching kung fu, are they? They are teaching MMA. Grappling/boxing/FMA are NOT part of core kung fu teaching. Kung fu teaching included no take downs, ground techniques, etc. Kung fu has been shown to be ineffective, fanciful, and for for the movies only; fantasy and not for real fighting.

  • Not really. My Wing Chun Sifu has found similar principles in Boxing, Kali and has applied their concepts to our training. Like certain footwork, transition drills, focus pads, etc. He is a Wing Chun teacher first, and is opened minded to other SIMILAR arts 2nd. I say similar cuz he does not have interest in TKD or Karate as much. BTW, he is also a bouncer at a strip joint and a dance club!!! He has lots of experience trust me.

  • it stops the momentum and gives you a better opportunity to sprawl against a hard shot, right? not useless at all

  • it seems to me that the hip would break the collar bone before the collar bone breaks the hip

  • This technique does work, with the correct timing and positioning... If you connect with someone's clavicle, you can most certainly impede your opponent's attack. This is not used as a finishing technique, it's a counter technique... There is some follow-up... Shamrock knows what he's doing, he's just simplifying to basics.

  • all u fucks are stupid...thats shamrock mma legend , what are u guys? internet shit wads crtiquing him?

  • Hip thrust works, for example when somebody catches you by surprise and already got your legs. I wrestled and do bjj, and my wreslting coach who was 2x state champ and all american wrestler taught it too.

  • if ur as advanced as shamrock im sure it'll work

  • You do not see it much as most fighters are not incredibly well-versed in wrestling tactics. Frank Shamrock is one of the all-time greats, I would take what this guy says as gospel. He would not "preach" it otherwise.

  • the hip check is real, i've been "hit" with it from a D1 wrestler. Trust me, it's no joke, but you don't see that much....

  • Don't waste your time talking to noobs.

  • For all you guys, the hip thrust isn't that uncommon. I am a mixed martial artist and if you know how to look for it, you'll see it in a lot of pro fights. Anything can be countered of course, but in certain situations it works and can even set up a few secondary moves (i.e. a kimura lock).

  • what the fuck that wouldnt work, a good wrestler would just play through the hip and take him down anyway

  • the hip doesn't look effecting. Seems more like a surrendering your hip to damage. the jamming works though. It also sets you up to lay in some heavy hits or your own take down.

  • There's a high probability that a person would actually break their hip if they slammed it against a mass of incoming force such as a whole human body!

  • Why? I use that style of sprwaling quite well ;-)

  • u reckon the hip thing works? looks doubtful...

  • nothing of this will work. imho complete bullshit.

  • awesome video.. i have his striking video... i guess this saves me from buying the video now :)
