Great song, I've been finding so many songs that remind me so much of my childhood lately that I totally forgot about, and great bands I knew nothing of, like Jimmy Eat World and The Cure and such. People are entitled to have their taste in people like Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber, but I'll always keep coming back to the classics.

  • thumbs up if you´re listening whoa oh oh oh!

  • On every single effing emo music video, a definition of emo is one of the top rated comments! Emos should just learn not to take their label as an insult and accept it as a musical genre. When emo first came to be, I self declared myself loud and proud. Now I don't have a label ofcourse :)

  • ugh it upsets me that this doesn't have millions of views. I love JEW so so much

  • NHL 2003!!!!!!

  • ya gotta love J.E.W

  • i love nhl 2003... i think its the 2nd best nhl after nhl 11

  • Now THIS is a rock band !

  • @97Lien Post-emo... with that said, no suicidal freaks listen to it. So goes for real EMOtive Hardcore, like Rites of Spring, Antioch Arrow and so on. Jimmy Eat the World is one of the last Post-Emo bands, but they're sound has changed over the years.

  • there are 4 stupid people who watched and voted

  • awsome song brings back old memories from nhl 2003 :P

  • Legendery

  • Nhl 2003 FTW!!!

  • @Xanaphior: Yes.

  • They dont make tunes like this anymore! - for the past few years most bands are too busy trying to become tv stars on shit reality shows or going all out on their or image to make good alternative uplifting music like this, The type of music you can throw on when you've had a shitty day. - These guys will always be up with the faves.

  • i dont care what you have to say about this you can put it where you like but it is just the best !! =)

  • LOVE this band

  • This song was made in 2003... Emos started coming up around 2006. I wont lie, Jimmy Eat World were the lesser emo type, they were and still are a fantastic band however. I don't tend to think of them as emo, but its a fact. Seen em' live twice. Bloody awesome, probably the best Gig I've been to infact.

  • NHL 03 had the best soundtrack...

  • Its bubble gum punk...jackass...not emo...

  • it's not sunny day real estate or jawbreakers but it's emo. whether you like it or not.

  • You're clearly confused as to what emo is, because this is definitely way too new to be early emo.

  • early emo started in the early 90's

which then was essentially a blend of punk rock/indie.

you can consider the early 2000 era of "emo" 2nd wave. but still at that time indie/emo shared many of the same properties within their musics.

"emo" of now has been rehashed as something completely different.

funny! same word yet 3-4 different types of music sounds through the past (almost) 20 years

  • Emo started in 1985 with Embrace and Rites of Spring.

  • Now there's some huge electronica trend going on with bands who have touched the genre. But i only listen to emo bands that are really. BTW emo started mid 80's with Rites of Spring and other emotional hardcore punk bands but glad to see someone who knows what emo is for a change!

  • yeah mid-80s you guys are awesome. thanks for the correction.

  • Wth? Why is this classified as "emo" it's more of an upbeat song

  • lol yea jimmy eat world is the oposite of emo

  • i tooootally agree!

  • emo was never a negative connotation until hot topic came along. emo is short for emotional Jimmy Eat World is early emo because it was one of the first groups to write very raw emotional songs

  • They weren't the first. Embrace, The Faith, Rites of Spring, and Fugazi were the first one's.

  • Because besides the song being upbeat, quiet a lot of JEW's music is actually considered emotional, therefore emo. Still, they're the acceptable side of emo, not the faggy crappy pussy wining moaning stupid bitchy (I could go on)... (but now I've lost where I was going). uh, band...

  • i love Jimmy Eat World!

They rock my socks off! =)

    x

  • i think my face just melted

  • this is when i used to like them.

    they suck now.

  • true

  • All of you need to shut the fuck up I'm tired of people bitching in their comments

  • INSANITY!!!!!!! People are insane. God why can't people just watch a video and comment on things that aren't pointless. Don't get me wrong I find what you're all say hilarious but it just a bit ridiculous.

  • Because God doesnt exist.

  • Oh well now everything makes sense now

  • LOL.

  • LOL your all crazy. great song by the way :)

  • okay i hate agurements but im not apart of it emo doesnt mean cutting fringes and skinny jeans btw

  • well said dude!!!

emo is just a genre of msic like any other...

just like heavy metal doesnt aleays mean satin worshipers and dressed in all black...

  • I love this song! :D

Arguements on YouTube are lame :|

  • ... why is there a fight on this video... anyways, emo ISNT fringes and cutting yourself, skinny jeans and crying alot. wtf. I always thought emo was like... old indie college rock... hmmmm

  • I hate to get so involved to a Youtube argument, but I can just tell that you're one of those deuschers that loves to take time posting their comments to sound so profound by using capitalization, simple punctuation, words like therefore, shall, and other stupid shit. You probably say "per say, and via" . You're a tool, get over it. Stop trying to lecture ppl on Youtube cuz no one will listen to you in the real world. Just enjoy the song and stop trying to instigate and being a piece of shit.

  • I just wanted to say "per say" via a youtube comment.

  • NO, not everyone is emo. To be emo does NOT mean that you show emotion, because if that's what it was the term emo would've existed a long time ago and it wouldn't be bad to be considered emo. Emo is flippy hair, dark, pussy/weak and crying a lot, and cutting yourself like a bitch. No shit everyone shows emotion, wow you sound so smart saying it's a proven fact... it doesn't have to be proven, everyone knows ppl show emotion! Emo ppl are weak, pathetic, depressed, odd, and weird as hell.

  • PEOPLE! please stop argueing can we just all agree that jimmy eats wourld is fucking awsome!

  • how is this emo??????

  • Throw genres out the window. If you like a song, well you like it.

  • you're totally right. that's always been my philosophy, it's just that when someone defines something as "emo" they're usually classifying it as such because it embodies qualities i don't like. here's a band i really respect because they're not catering to anything, they're just doing it and it comes out sounding how it sounds. so, good on them is basically my point.

  • its hard to put this song into a category, its emo, but its different

  • yea okay but when i want to have a conversation about emotion, i call it emotion. when i want to talk about kids with sideswiped hair and the like, i call it emo, like everyone else. we don't come up with names for things so we can shift their meaning and eventually change them all together. in this day and age, "emo" is a much more specific word than "emotional". but of course it's derived from it. every word has its origins.

  • regardless, all i wanted to do was express my appreciation in the discovery that this particular song, that i like, falls into the genre of "emo". another mindless sect of categorization that we all seem to be in mutual dissapproval of. can we just leave it at that?

  • @Klubeman Just because a word is derived from another and seems to have a legitimate definition for its usage doesn't mean it should be used. Everyone is emotional, therefore everyone is emo. I'm sick of this emo is sideswept hair dark music bullshit. Shut the fuck up.

  • @darkwolfkendra Hmmm... I'm not sure you get me. First off, the statement "everyone is emo" doesn't hold any water. That word, by it's very nature, is a classification and due to that, cannot be 'everyone.' We as modern people tend to feel the need to categorize things and find names for them. As stupid and vague as the idea of "genres" of music is, there's always a basis behind those designations. So fine. This song is the best song I've heard that people call "Emo." Geez... such hostility...

  • @Klubeman I think it's funny that your comment is from over a year ago and you still have people commenting back on it, hahahha. I hope I'm not the only one who did that. LOL.

  • Sorry, but you can't tell me I'm 'emo' when people who specifically label themselves as 'emo' are completely different from me in taste, fashion, and attitude.

  • In addition, since when was music ever NOT 'emotional'? Music even dating past the angry and vengeful themes of Wagner have been FULL of emotion. Why does one particular sect of pop culture deserve to use that powerful word as their calling card?

  • Agreed. All music has their genres, yet all artists put soul, & emotion into their work. It's difficult to say though that "Emo" music, is simply that, because there are so many sub-genres out there. There are countless general genres, that lead into much more completed sub genres. Metal for example has hundreds of sub genres, and the emo genre shouldn't be an exception to this. There are plenty of songs that border of the emo genre, but are still true to another genre. This song, is an example.

  • This is a great song. I don't even like this genre much but I always remembered this song and jimmy eat world lol.

  • fucking awesomeness!

  • HD+Jimmy Eat World=FTW :)
