In germany they pronounce it Porsche with an e. The e at the end sounds like the e in the word ever. Combine the two words Porsche and Ever and just cut the last 'ver'. There you go. We say it the same way in sweden but the german r is more emphasized.
So, now we can quit arguing about pronounciations and just enjoy theese great cars. I will definitelly enjoy mine when I in 2 weeks warm it up and drive it out of the garage after a too long winter break =)
every time I hear them say porsh is like nails on a chalk board to me. Its porscha and yes I do speak a bit of german. I would know. porsh sounds like early 1900s southern dialect. You know... like how some people say wash like wersh
@ChaseSpeer Thank you for your input. However, I have studied German for 4 years and have been there twice, in Leipzig, and seen the Porsche factory there. I am not sure if have studied German or you have lived there. There are many different ways to pronounce Porsche, along with Audi, Mercedes, BMW, Opel, Weismann, Volkswagen, and the rest of the German automakers. Thanks again.
actually the correct German pronunciation is indeed porscha. But loanwords or proper nouns are often adjusted to the idiosyncrasy of the respective foreign language. Like you say "California" in English but "Kalifornien" in German ... so Porsh sounds perfectly fine in English
@mcutler321 you studied it? nice, still, it`s my mother tongue and thus I can confirm that what chase said is right. It`s pronounced as it`s written. By the way, Porsche is a austrian surname. Ferdinand Porsche came from Vienna and his descendants still live in Salzburg. Keep on saying Porsch, if it makes you happy. It`s not german though. Oh, same goes for the others => Pronounced as written
@mcutler321 Kia owns a much larger part of the market and thus they are "owning" the other brands in the same way that that 13 year old was "owning" you in Call of Duty last night.
@thekkl Again, I am seeing Kia being partly owned by the Hyundai Kia Automotive Group (34.58%) with 1.4 million cars sold last year. Kia has no ownership of anyone in Europe. Show me what/who they own in the market other than with Hyundai. I do not play Call of Duty so you are mistaken, sorry.
@mcutler321 By 'Kia' I was referring to the Kia/Hyundai automotive group. What they own is the world's largest slice of the automotive pie. Own, in this case, means kick the ass of.
@suren1987 other way around buddy... "porsha" is the correct way... "porsh" is the english-speaking world's way of pronouncing it. not just americans, australians, british, and canadians pronounce it that way too, but people who actually know cars call it porsha.
@coolerdude44 partially correct. america does not have any english law saying last names get pronuced differently just because the people saying it are stupid.
You dont say Nike as NYK. Dont say Porsche as porsch

@thekkl I only see Hyundai and Kia partly own each other. Kia doesn't own VW or Porsche.

For an "official" commercial, it's odd that they mispronounce "Porsche" on first mention...
