I REALLY like bush, and i hope from wat i got 4rm u two its a good movie so ill check it out. i think Buch was a great president, and i cant wait till people see who the Obama they voted 4 really is
Like how the word "Neocon" or "Fascist" is constantly used to describe Bush's terms without any coherent definition or reasoning except "WE HATE WAR"?
carter was a victim of circumstance. arab oil embargo, iran hostage crises, he didn't cause any of that. now bush, bush fucked things up himself. that is why he is the worst president of all time.
Nope, Carter was. It's a fact. At least Bush got 2 terms. Carter=1. Double digit unemployment, inflation through the roof, Carter wanting everyone to "live on an allowance". What a joke!! I don't live on "revised history" like you Democrats do.
first of all, bush still has a lower approval rating then any other president in history, and caused all of his own problems. carter's number one mistake was just standing there and letting the shit hit the fan. bush actually picked up the shit and THREW it at the fan.
And what sources are you using to promote your fact? You just don't like Bush. That's your right, but the fact remains that Bush got 2 terms while being "the worst President ever". And, if you think that this is some sort of personal thing against Carter. My Father-in-law was a rather high ranking (and well respected) member of our community and he campaigned for Carter when he ran and Jimmy Carter's son, Chip, actually spent the night at my in-laws house here while in Chicago.
"the worst president ever";abe; has been applied to bush by society at large. he had the lowest approval rating of any president in history, and he screwed up every single thing more then any other president in history. people were warning him the whole time, also. but he just kept going with his retarded policy's and when they failed he blamed "the evildoers".
AND, when Carter won, my in-laws were invited to the inaugural ball in Washington DC. They also got Christmas cards and gifts every year from Carter while he was President ( I have proof). I never said Carter was a bad man, I just think his ideas were not the best for the nation..I think we are seeing this happen again as we speak.
Yep, and sploogersmoof told a little lie when he said that "bush still has a lower approval rating then any other president in history". In fact, Harry Truman had 22% approval at one point in his presidency and Nixon got as low as 24%
Whereas Bush, Jr.'s rating only went as low as 29%.
A great movie honoring a really great president. Stone portrayed Bush as he really is: a decent man who has traits just like the rest of us, a ordinary fun-loving guy who becomes president. The message: Any one of us can become leader of the US.
He's not my hero, but he sure beat the alternatives, Gore and Kerry! Now we've elected BHO, on a DREAM that he will do some good. He is intelligent and articulate, but I doubt his supporters know who they REALLY elected, and who HE serves. I hope Oliver Stone makes the "BHO" movie and not Spike Lee, not that I dislike Spike, but Oliver is on a roll. "Nixon" was a little big on the paranoia thing, but fair as well. Someone will eventually do Reagan and Clinton, those will be good ones...
True any of us can become a leader of the US. Doesn't mean everyone will be a good leader. Bush seemed to be America's choice for 8 years. I don't mean he is a bad president, but he's made some pretty bad decisions.
not anyone can become a president. presidential candidates are pre-picked by the elite. if you think the government is running America, think again. Corporate leaders meet with politicians in secret meetings like the Bilderberg Group.
THE FUCKING ILLUMINATI RUN AMERICA AND THEY WANT TO RULE THE WORLD. FIGHT THEM AND DON'T ACCEPT RFID CHIPS AND DON'T USE INTERNET2. IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT; RESEARCH IT. RFID CHIPS AND INTERNET2.
what's so devious about the film is that it presents the life of this person who's made so many poor decisions as the typical underdog hero of Hollywood movies.
Yeah his reverend made it on the news alright. So called Reverend Wright is a racist hatemonger that hates America. Obama attended his church for 20 years.
I remember flicking through the channels one morning and seeing one of The Bush Daughters on a talk show. During the show they actually called the president and spoke to him for a few seconds or so. I remember thinking, Wow, W. is just a regular guy, maybe even, dare I say a good guy. He's just a little 'slow,' to put it vaguely.
This was a very good review, because what it pointed out is the fact that people don't want to accept, W. was a regular guy overwhelmed by his job. At expense of USA
I find it stunning that hollywood critics are so divided with this movie. Oliver Stone finally made a politically driven film that is grounded in reality at least on some level. The fact that critics do not like this movie because it is too "sympathetic" towards Bush just shows how politically motivated and bias many people are. I voted for Kerry in the last election but I am smart enough to understand that Bush is not some evil mastermind; he is an average guy way over his head.
I'm disappointed by the overall critical reaction as well. Having seen the film twice now, I can safely say that it's not as sloppy as some first suggested. Bush may be the protagonist that we are made to feel sorry for, but it's only at his lack of leadership in the first place. Being "way over your head" is not a good thing when you are talking about being the president, so Stone plays our expectations against us.
@zapstrung Very pertinent comment about a much underrated movie. It explores Bush Jr's psyche pretty well. It's a compassionate look at a totally incompetent president, it's certainly not sympathetic to him. As Stone clearly said, he loathes Bush.
I gotta love it that people think he'll "Destroy the nation" by being.. GASP, a Democrat!
And look, if you think so much that he's a Muslim, why was he baptized and had all his children baptized, too? I mean, come on. His reverend even made it onto the news!!!
I just saw it and was disappointed. I really think Stone didn't go after Bush as much as he should have. I thought it was a very sympathetic portrayal of W. Oliver Stone is basically saying that Bush really thought he was doing the right thing by going to war, which is something I don't agree with. Stone focuses on Bush's relationship with his father and the war a little too much, and doesn't spend enough time on some of the many other things that Bush has done to destroy this country.
I think Bush really did think he was doing the right thing. but that certainly doesn't make him right, or the movie any more "sympathetic." What I loved about the movie is that Stone is turning it around on the audience, presenting the main character in a way that we are used to seeing the hero/protagonist. But when you think about it, Bush's stubbornness and "clarity" on the issue blinded him. That's what the movie presents!
I'm sorry but your bassist is a terrible review, he talks too danm fast! Eric was trying to explain the movie but kept getting cut off and I have no idea whether the movie is for me or totally isn't.
I predict that this movie will sink at the box-office, but will be revived in a few years once we have some space between Bush and the present, and be embraced as a sharp piece of satire.
i didn't really like the film, but when i saw this film, it made me "feel" for Bush.
