Good guide but after getting 99 fishing I found something out.. It's not worth it. I'm save you guys the trouble now. And for those of you going just to get shark to make money.. Get 29 hunting instead. Swamp lizards catch faster then shark, right by a bank and sell instantly on the GE for 1.8k+ each. ( I found this out while getting 51 hunter to be able and do temple at sennisten or whatever lol)

if you're on fishing, the price of either one doesn't affect which method you'll be using... since there are hardly anyone buy both in trade nor in GE....

So just do whichever suits you at the time... (same xp anyways)

@fallzapart You use them to make a statue in varrock. You get 2 for each skill. Bring strange rock to museum in varrock and talk to guy by statue base.

@fallzapart just some additional information: no, they worth nth in price... with that statue that aquateenl mentioned earlier, you can only build one per week. And every time you completed one statue in the Varrock Museum, you will receive another rock piece, which you can build a special statue in your poh. In my memory, you need 30 of those rock pieces to complete the statue in your poh.

@MrSnipererMan Yes I do, while using a familiar, it gives u boost while fishing. So there's a chance of being a bit faster. But I only recommend you using Granite Lobs. As Granite Lobs boost the most, and it gives sharks and swordies I believe? not 100% sure on this tho...

@BmdFingerboards of course you could fish rocktails from 90-99... just I'm not sure about the net xp rate at that lvl yet... The reason that I'm suggesting lvl95 is because... well, as u might know, the higher ur fishing lvl is, the higher the chance to getting a high xp rate.

I would suggest you to complete swan song quest, unless you haven't meet quest requirement... in that case, you could do tuna/swordies.... they are pretty good at 85 for both xp and profit... better than sharks i believe

It's a Strange Rock, a rock that you could receive from the minigame Shattered Heart. Basically you get those rocks from normal daily skilling in most skills besides cb stats. In which you can build a statue in Varrock Museum to gain extra xp. Each time you can only obtain two rocks, untill you have built a whole statue in the Museum, and it'll transform into another piece of rock that you can build a statue in poh.

@daraminos Yes Daraminos, 35k Feather is a approximate amount tho, it depends how many Trouts and Salmons you fished, cos the more salmons u got, u might need a little bit less feathers, just a little bit less tho =P

In my guide, all I'm doing is suggesting. As mentioned in the guide, Lobsters is actually the very first method for all players in RuneScape that can use to generate any profit from fishing. And moving on from Lobsters, next step would be Tuna/Swordfish (never used this method myself, so didn't add this part in).

Next step up from that, would be cavefish&rocktails.

1. Fly-fishing till 95fishing, then do rocktails. (No profit for 80-95)

2. Tuna/Swordies from 80 till 95, then do rocktails. (Some profit for 80-95) =]

tbh, I would suggest you keep on flyfish till about 75fishing before you go for monkfish, as 75fishing will be heaps faster than 67... cos monkfish's req is 67fishing...

I was surprised on how it gives 100k or less as you said, and I also checked GE, and their current price are 280gp. So food price obviously dropped after free trade returned to RS.

in w88 i think it was, it's the Living Rock Cavern's "Unofficial" World.

and there are heaps of players mine and fish down there, so if you fish near them, chances of getting is pretty low. (you'll be surprised on how many there are @@!)

but just in case, wear some cheaper armor...

so even if u die, you won't lose much.

Now to your question, it will depends on your level. But looking at fly fishing, it's about 45k xp an hour, so you still have to divide your remaining xp till 99 by 45k. Same as if you're doing Monkfish - 40k xp an hour, or 45k xp an hour.

For me, I did Monkfish from 82-99, forgotten the total time I used, cos I got 99 like 10months back then :o

But from 98-99, took me 5days, about 50hrs in total =,=

@EtcSlayer actually even you do 90-99 monkfish, the profit rate is still higher than doing sharks... even at 99fish, sharks rate is about 120 catches per hour, and monks are 330 catches per hour.. while sharks are 1k each, and monkfish are 400gp each.. you make slightly more with monkfish...
