One of my favourite bass lines to one of Rush's most endearing songs. I learnt this long ago and it was a bitch. Congrats man. You bring back many good memories.
I was checking out some of your videos. You're an excellent bass player. I don't read music so I play by ear. I definately can learn a few things by watching you. Keep jammin
hey I've been looking for a new brand of rounds to put on my jazz and p bass. I'm looking for a warmer sounding roundwound string, still retaining round characteristics but without the nasty high end. Is this DR sunbeams or should I keep looking?
I like the DR Sunbeams. They are nickel roundwounds, which make them smoother to the touch and easier on fretboards, with a good life-span. They have great warm tone and a deep low end. The high string is 45 gauge, which shouldn't be too high-end sounding, I prefer them over same gauge steel roundwounds like Rotosounds.
Dude- You can also try Rotosound RS 66LDN. They're the Nickel as opposed to the steel, which have that wicked high end you're talking about. I'm using them on my Alembic now and they're much warmer than the steel, yet you still get that ballsy punch you want.
My next bass is a Mocha '78 like yours. Currently using a '78 SB. Nice tone and presentation.

Dude, how do you get that tone??

Geddy did use his rick on this song. He uses a jazz bass to play it now, so you're probably not far off the sound.

Hey man. Nice job. As far as I know, Geddy played the Jazz bass to record all of moving pictures, but played the Ric on the supporting tour.

He played the ric... a each pickup through a differnt amp.

DR Hi-Beams ftw! I've seriously never broken one and I do a lot of slapping. If they're good enough for Marcus Miller, they're good enough for me =P

you can't go wrong with a vintage P Bass, and the bridge really made a difference. I'd like to upgrade the pickups next.
