Giving Firth as oscar nom for best supporting actor would be an insult to Cumberbatch/Hardy who deserve it far more than he does. His dialogue was very, very minimal also until the final few minuets of the film.
@ShirtlessLocke I know - even Firth keeps reminding people of that in most of the interviews I'm seeing him in. He'll get another shot at an Oscar, but I doubt that it'll be for this film (mainly because his part is so minimal - however wonderful his performance may be). I'm guessing he'll be nominated for "The Railway Man" which he just signed on for recently. That sounds like the quintessential "give me an Oscar" movie.
doubtful, Gary Oldman is more likey to be nominated as best actor. With Tom Hardy, and Sherlock's lead actor, (I forget how to spell his name) as best surporting actors
I reckon if anyone deserves an Oscar for this movie, it probably ought to be Gary Oldman. Yes, an Oscar for Oldman is long overdue.

ITV people, at least watch the film before saying someone's likely to get an Oscar. Firth was probably in it for no more than 15 minutes.
