To be depressed and suffering became fashionable around the early nineteen hundreds. It started with the publication of a book called Les Miserables, (I think it was that one...) and it became very successful. Around that time, there was a string of suicides due to depression, which was mostly unheard of before that time. Then came all these radical innovations of thought, romanticism and the like, and those who were suffering were seen as more significant than those with a stable mind.

Emo sounds like a word to describe emotion. Shouldn't all music, such as this, have emotion? Yet we don't call this emo. So, who cares. Like what you like. It doesn't matter. Genres are just words used to give people an idea of what it will sound like. Also, anyone who shys away from music with emotion for fear of being labeled as emo shows lack of confidence.

Not sure if anyone else does this but, I enjoy this band most w/ a hot cup of green tea driving on a gloomy November morning.. usually through a heavily wooded area.. (which is one good thing about living in a suburban area)

Great song! I got to know Forest of Shadows through the December Songs CD (Tribute to Katatonia), but I think their original music is even better than the cover they did. Awesome music, very epic, very deep, very sad. I love it!
