The gold standard is you'd back your money by gold, if your short on gold, you can't create money out of thin air, that keeps the economy in check, it wont inflate because all money is backed up.

It is not about bringing back the gold standard. It's about legalizing competing currencies such as precious metals and other commodities. Competing currencies (ie. the treasury printing one ounce silver coins as legal tender to merchants who would accept them) would restrain the Federal Reserve's ability to print money endlessly.
Never in history has paper money successfully sustained a nation or empire for very long. There is no debate on this point.

No he is not. There are thousands and thousands of young people who are learning from Ron Paul. There are more people who know the true nature of government corruption now than 10 or 20 years ago. I am very optimistic that the federal government and the Federal Reserve are going to be limited and restrained as more people hear the truth.

When you back the money with gold which cannot be mass produced then you are ensuring that the value of the dollar remains the same and that you cannot print dollars in excess................in idiots terms the more gold you have the more money you can print.

You do realize the more paper dollers, the less the dollar is worth, so if money was backed by gold, or dimonds, or of SOMETHING OF HIGH VALUE ( I don't understand why you think gold isn't valuable) then paper dollars can ONLY be created for every say pound of gold, or what ever you'd like it to be backed by, that stops the creation of money out of thin air, and if you can't create anymore money, the value of the dollar will not drop...

It is not about bringing back the gold standard. It's about legalizing competing currencies such as precious metals and other commodities. Competing currencies (ie. the treasury printing one ounce silver coins as legal tender to merchants who would accept them) would restrain the Federal Reserve's ability to print money endlessly.
Never in history has paper money successfully sustained a nation or empire for very long. There is no debate on this point.

I think the reason they're smirking is they're hoping people will just think Ron Paul is crazy. They don't have a response for him. They don't even want to touch it because they know they'll get burned. They don't have a clue what he's talking about and were well aware that if they tried to respond to him they'd just keep making fools of themselves which they did in the earlier debates. It's sad that personalities and not ideas are what people vote for in the USA.

whatever his positions they're all consistent with one another. So I think when it comes to "climate change" I'd bet it probably comes down to Ron Pauls beliefs that their shouldn't be "more govt" to take care of everyone because it always ends up being a moral hazard. Climate change ends up being a "pawn" unfortunately and ultimately its more about money than the planet. Lets face it. do you really think "politicians" care about the planet? taxing carbon? Thats greed not helping the earth.

I agree that too much government regulation in our economy is detremintal to our standard of living. I am very capitalist. But that does not mean i think that global climate change is one HUGE conspiracy. The only people who think it isnt real are religious people who believe that their supernatural god would never allow us to destroy the planet. What we need is a president who can combine capitalism and environmentalism and make them both work. But not socialism.
