I think balancing that is "unnecessarily" compliant just reduces positioning accuracy. If the ZMP is not at the edge of the support polygon then the robot should be able to reject the upper body disturbance without moving. I did something like that in watch?v=Xq3k3YAYOeU but its hard to see without the ZMP data. I'll make a better video in the future.

if you can sink Mocap with the robot 1:1. then it can be used in space or underwater wear gravity will not effect the humanoid robot as much or at all. I'm a video game student and I hope that I live long neath to see this type of robot put to use in war Sims or survival 1:1 games. Imagine being Indiana Jones with out the risk of being crushed by a rock. or the physical disabled being able to live serigit lives (some what like in the film)
