Why is everyone Focusing on the magnets when the the last thing to create the megnetic field are the COILS!? Why are people finding a way to either shut the coil off half way through passing through the magnetic field. Tere has to be a point when passing through the magnetic field that the coil is maxed out in production of Electricity. This is the point that the coil should be shut off before completely passing by the Magnet. This has to happen on every coil every time it passes the EMF...

in my humble opinion permanent magnets are only very special rocks where the inner crystals are polarized in the same direction. I think that also NdFeB "permanent" magnets are done just the same way. They are molten and then a magnetic field is passed through the molten alloy to polarize the crystals inside. Then they solidify and there we have the nice permanent magnet... which in fact does not produce any magnetism themselves; they are just channeling the Earth magnetic fields...
HDDs have two NdFeB magnets and the supports are made from a special alloy that shields the magnetic field. You can try by sticking your magnetometer to the opposite side of the support and see if it acts as a magnetic shield or not...
steel is not a magnetic shielding material at all, neither copper or aluminum.
soft Iron is far better for this purpose... but i think the above mentioned alloy is even better (MuMetal I think)

Magnets do die. I had a old piece from school blue/red colored from the 80s and that died after many many years. It was left just in the end as a metal bar! No more magnetism.

you know very well you are not using the correct size steel plate for the Neo mag. it was oversaturated with field lines. another things, the force at which two strong magnets repel are at least an 1inch and up, in your test you had to come very close to the steel plate and the magnet to pick up the south pole. the repelling force would of pushed both magnets before the south weak force can even get in contact. Every form of "magnetic shielding" is actually just changing the shape of the magnetic field or diverting the flux. You still get a magnet but with a differently shaped magnetic field to a non-shielded magnet of the same shape. This will not help in those that seek to have a self sustaining permanent magnet motor.

You're not shielding properly. It takes two opposite poles to allow the field to follow the ferromagnetic material instead of passing through it. Please see my video response.

Apparently you've lost sight of what magnetic shielding actually does. This video has no bearing whatsoever on magnetic shielding as pertained to in the video showing how to use batteries and tin as shielding.

Greetings, The thickness of the plate in use, it's permeability, magnetic moment and magnetic domain saturation for that particular sample. The flat plate you are using lacks in thckness. Think of it like a sponge. The more water (Magneto motiv force) you have the bigger the sponge (FRP Flux Return Plate) needs to be in order to soak up the water prior to saturation. Hope this helps. Also with the N42 you are using there. You might go to a .25in 6mm thick plate of the same parameters. Have fun!

Testing the side of the magnet is not what's important here, (I thought you meant the other side) ...rather the face of the magnet in regards to what flux does or does not bleed though the face of the shielding is what is at stake in this given experiment/test.

On a last note: When you allow the magnet to lay directly onto the steel plate, you allow the flux to be directly transferred to the shielding, thus causing the shielding to act as a magnet itself.

Nice demo, but I strongly suggest anyone interested in seeing acceleration to build a static stator as described in his part 2 explanation of the one way shielding.
Using steel to shield the direct flux of a magnet is good, but that it is made of steel which also by it's nature attracts a magnet takes away any advantages gained.
Magnetic shielding isn't the holy grail, but non ferrous magnetic shielding quite possibly is. If you can slip a non-ferrous shield between two attracting or repelling magnets at no entry and exit cost then you have free energy right there.
You need industrial shielding at 30 bucks a foot to correctly shield your magnets on one side. It can be done. This is how the Japanese do it and have created a device which is a dual cylinder which accelerates to bearing limits.

No, we have even better sources of energy on the way. Have you heard of fusion reactors? Those are under development. I only use Neodymium Magnets. Your testing is still flawed. When I can, I will re-due your testing, than you will see just why that is.
Simply said, when you place a 1/4" to a 1/3" non-magnetic spacer between the magnet and the metal plate, you get a big drop in flux reading. Than double shield it, using yet another - non-magnetic spacer in between. The end results are stunning.
I wonder what would happen if he used magnets with the same strength magnetic field? Neodymium magnets are much much stronger than other magnets, so using two magnets of the same size is a little disingenuous of him.

Every form of "magnetic shielding" is actually just changing the shape of the magnetic field or diverting the flux. You still get a magnet but with a differently shaped magnetic field to a non-shielded magnet of the same shape. This will not help in those that seek to have a self sustaining permanent magnet motor.

There are no known forms of shielding from magnetism, engineers simply conduct it away by using steel, check out FuelBan & Magnet Motors 1.wmv ........ videos 1 to 3, you can get an idea how to manipulate the steel to suite rotation. But it is not shielding , you are conducting forces away from a given location.

You're not shielding properly. It takes two opposite poles to allow the field to follow the ferromagnetic material instead of passing through it. Please see my video response.

your are simply "sucking" magnetic flux into the steel. no magnetic barrier, that's all.
magnetic shielding is based on the idea that, one day, someone will discover a kind of matter litterally repelling a magnetic flux, not making a tiny inverse-one (diamagnetism) nor absorbing (paramagnetism). that means you could make closed systems with minum, almost null leaks (for example, a magnet enclosed in box made of such material, would float FOREVER).

Greetings, The thickness of the plate in use, it's permeability, magnetic moment and magnetic domain saturation for that particular sample. The flat plate you are using lacks in thckness. Think of it like a sponge. The more water (Magneto motiv force) you have the bigger the sponge (FRP Flux Return Plate) needs to be in order to soak up the water prior to saturation. Hope this helps. Also with the N42 you are using there. You might go to a .25in 6mm thick plate of the same parameters. Have fun!

I'm puzzled as to why you can't see the forest for the tree in front of you.

Testing the side of the magnet is not what's important here, (I thought you meant the other side) ...rather the face of the magnet in regards to what flux does or does not bleed though the face of the shielding is what is at stake in this given experiment/test.
In my video called, "The Secret Behind The James Roney Stator" I get in to great detail and testing about the sides of the stator magnet.
*Now I see the tree in front of you that's keeping you from seeing the forest. ;-)

On a last note: When you allow the magnet to lay directly onto the steel plate, you allow the flux to be directly transferred to the shielding, thus causing the shielding to act as a magnet itself.
That's the tree that stands before you.

what about hollow sperical magnets with the north on the outside and the south on the inside? the ceramic magnets are weaker than the neodinium, which is why the neo magnet can still reach through the steel. anyway, good vid - i didn't even know steel was magnetic!

Great demonstration. It would have been nice to see you use a material with a higher magnetic permeability (e.g. Mu-metal, etc.), but steel still proves the point well. Regarding your description: magnetic force is created (electromagnetism, lodestone creation, etc.) and destroyed (shock, more electromagnetism, heat, etc.) all the time... I'm surprised that statement hasn't brought more discussion from readers. Very nice demonstration. Thank you.

Using steel to shield the direct flux of a magnet is good, but that it is made of steel which also by it's nature attracts a magnet takes away any advantages gained.

Magnetic shielding isn't the holy grail, but non ferrous magnetic shielding quite possibly is. If you can slip a non-ferrous shield between two attracting or repelling magnets at no entry and exit cost then you have free energy right there.

You need industrial shielding at 30 bucks a foot to correctly shield your magnets on one side. It can be done. This is how the Japanese do it and have created a device which is a dual cylinder which accelerates to bearing limits.

No, we have even better sources of energy on the way. Have you heard of fusion reactors? Those are under development. Scientists predict that those will put out more energy than they take to run in about 50 years. The energy that comes out originates in the nucleus of the hydrogen atom. The device is literally like a miniature sun that has no waste or radiation. It's literally the best form of energy we know of so far.

You cannot however, make a generator that runs on energy that wasn't there to begin with. In otherwords, you can't make a generator by simply arranging magnets.

@hellomate639 it takes nuclei being in close proximity more so. heat is molecular motion, fusion is when the strong force draws in near nuclei together. Zero point energy is the only reason absolute zero is not attainable otherwise you could fusion nuclei with no heat.

Magnets do die. What terminology do you use when a magnet loses its charge because when I think of a magnet losing its charge after a few hundred years it seems the same as a battery losing its charge after a few days.
Every magnet company I spoke to boasts their magnets last several hundred years under a work load before losing it's charge.

Simply said, when you place a 1/4" to a 1/3" non-magnetic spacer between the magnet and the metal plate, you get a big drop in flux reading. Than double shield it, using yet another - non-magnetic spacer in between. The end results are stunning.
