if vista is faster than xp then its hardware related, xp is getting old so haveing new hardware you wont take fully advantage of it in xp, unless you install all the drivers and or if the os can handle it, ie more than 4gb ram, more than 4 cpu cores, and such is outside what xp was built for, of corse you can have more ram and use it, but eatch induvidual program wont take advantage of more than what 32 bit allows , virsa versa a program wont take advantage of more cores than its designed for.
