The recovery vehicle is the one with the best winch, thats all, unless someone had tyres that beat the winch ... you didnt have mud tyres, so the winch was it.
The driver should not have moved while the person was standing in front, what wreckless behaviour.
The vehicle may have got unstuck if if they just sat on the bonnet, but that's too dangerous without a proper bullbar or similar to provide hand holds.
What a bunch of careless idiots. 1) Don't entrust your life to a muddy boot on some pedals. 2) When the tires spin, let OFF the gas. 3) Winch from the anchor point, not the load. 4) Don't straddle a cable or rope under load 5) Don't operate heavy equipment if you're drunk or retarded.
@webnician actually wrong way around man unless you are using a heavy duty hand winch the idea is that you pull the winch towards the anchor not the load towards the anchor don't try to make people out as stupid when you have no fucking idea...
@Devourer221 If my intelligence offended you, I beg you to forgive me, but when EVERY ATTEMPT IS BEING MADE TO PUT A VEHICLE WHERE YOU'RE STANDING, don't be there. Stand up and fight against natural selection.
@Devourer221 Not looking to get into an arguement. Just saw your comment about the correct positioning of a H.D. Hand Winch, AKA Come-Along. It has been my experience working as a pipe-fitter that not only do you make sure the winch is rated for the load + stresses, but that you always winch from the anchor point. My question is, as a newb to offroading, why do you like winching from the load and not the anchor point? (I ask because I just tossed an 8000lb hand winch in the back of my YJ)Thanks
i was just waiting for the moment where they found traction and seriously injured themselves. As someone in the state emergency service we get called to things like this all the time. People need to learn how to do things the right way first.
Drivers an idiot. could of killed his friends if he had found traction. and they are just as dumb to stay in front of a moron with his foot to the floor.
There is only ONE thing to remember for those who may be in the same situation: the winch has go to be away from the winched vehicle, (the tree side) and not right on it! Driving and winching at the same time, by hand winch (away from the car) or by fixed winch on the car is most usual! Only danger is the cable may snap if the car fall back, so better watch and get behind the tree, quick!!
To everyone that had somethin to say about how these blokes were doin what they were doin 'wrong', should shut the f**k up! and are either pussys or know it alls, they bloody got it didn't they??? I reckon They should rename it! " how legends use a handwinch" or " Aussie persavereance" There's always gotta be some wanker thats gotta say " why didn't they do this or why did't they do that........did yas feel cool when ya wrote that? some times ya just gotta use what ya got aye budge.
why didnt the guys winching put themselves as sand ladders from the beginig they put themselves in terrible danger without niticing, off roading is not for everyone
Would it not have been easier to hook on the jeeps side frame and pulled it to the right (I see a tree right there!) instead of trying to winch it up the hill? Even if you hook it to the front you can still pull it sideways!
I still can't get over the fact that there were people in front and beside the jeep when he started flooring it! If he started to slip he would have crushed someone. Totally irresponsible!
Just as a side note, I carry two winches with me so I can pull at lateral angles.

What sort of effin muppet applies power to the road wheels when people are either in front or behind said vehicle? Should have your licence taken off you.
If using a winch USE THE WINCH DO NOT DRIVE AS WELL. Wanna snap a cable?

Red neck style of unstucking a jeep and trying to crush a friend in the process. Nice work: three stooges.

you have no business 4-wheeling or using winches or anything else but coloring and using blunted scissors under adult supervision.
