  • WEIRD seeing the Helvetica $10,000 win graphic...

  • Thats a ridiculously hard $50 clue.

  • Noticed: when they were on the last subject with 8 seconds Dick didn't say HURRY, HURRY!

  • talk about last second!!!

  • incredible

  • I believe this was dusty from PYL's kristine/dusty/sheryl episode from 1985

  • Wow, the old graphics and sound effects! I thought they did away with those when the 80s version came out. What a win too!

  • wow! that was all the celebrity! he's lucky that he had her guessing. he didn't give her much to work with but they got it done. good for them!

  • @enriqueecsj She was a former contestant on this show.

  • What's amazing is that they were stuck on the first subject for 10-15 seconds or so, and I thought, "Oh God, they're in trouble already." But they came back and won it! Wow!

  • I seen it, followed by Tony Danza's win.

  • Hey Josh, did you see this winner's circle win on today's episode of $25K Pyramid (5/5)?

  • Indeed, I did! I was like "hey, I have that one!" lol...

  • The only question now is, if this was the earliest week of shows that become the subject of flashback intros in future episodes, then which one, of the daytime shows' 284 weeks of first-run episodes, was the most recent one?

  • Absolutely fantastic!

When she got "Things on a Stick", I jumped up just like they did in excitement. Completely unexpected.

    God, I love this show.

  • I love this show too and that SOO quick!!!! I was saying the same thing Mr. Clark as he saw that clock hit 1 and then 0 and I was jumping up and down YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS $10,000!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah she got it about a split second before the clock hit zero, that was AMAZING!

  • @bcollegestar

I agree. But I didn't jump from my seat like they did. I sort of bounced in my seat. That is what I call a "split-second win". No contestant could get any closer than that before the buzzer.

  • This show gives me a heart attack lol LOVE IT!!

  • I think Constance deserve at least 80% credit on that win. He didn't seem to be the best clue-giver.

  • Particularly on that last box. I would have said "A Corn Dog" and "A Lollipop."

  • Also the first category. I know it's probably nerve-wracking to be up there, but I would think the first thing you'd think of is "sand" in a desert.

  • Or camel.

  • Or how about "Jeff Dunham's Jose Jalapeno..." ('on a steeeeek...') LOL XD.

  • I think I saw dusty on face the music which

was hosted by ron ely in 1980

  • As Michael Jackson's album implies, this WC playing was..."A Thriller!!!"

  • Being the ol' skool person I am, I can actually do the Thriller dance. I am a sad person... lol.

  • How long was Helvetica used as the win font?

  • The $10,000 font was used on High Rollers and Family Feud, right?

  • @nextbarker

I do know that it was the font style used on the late 80s version of High Rollers when a contestant won $10,000 on the Big Numbers round, but I'm not sure about Family Feud. I never watched Family Feud very much, though.

  • A of all: "Donnymid" = best word ever.

B of all: "Donnymid" = worst show ever.

The judging was so literal and nightmarish. I saw a previous posting about the judges not accepting a contestant saying "Fattening Foods" for "Fattening Things." WTF, MATE???

  • Please I can do better than that. If the Category was "What ____ would say" You HAD to answer it as "'What ____ would say'" or they wouldn't count it. They didn't undersatnd that that part of the game was about the KEY WORD. Not about how the answer is phrased. They were ridiculous about that!!

  • I saw another clip yesterday, where the category was simply "Tools", and the contestant guessed "Things in a Toolbox", but the judges wouldn't allow it. What the hell else would you find in a toolbox?

  • Nouns

  • Oh, yeah... the judging was hideous there.

If you ask me though, the best word ever is another portmanteau which starts with "K" and ends with "G".

  • @dpsulliv Yeah that's what really pissed me off about Donny Osmond's era of pyramid.... Well, I just hated anything about him hosting the show and that version in general. It just didn't feel the same... Especially the category pyramid and the WC pyramid. It just seemed more glamourous when everything spun on trilons.

  • @dpsulliv

Actually, I thought Donny Osmond's version was okay (don't get me wrong), but I had heard that other people liked Dick Clark's version better than Donny's. Some people said Donny wasn't as good a host as Dick was, and/or that several of the changed rules were not agreeable. Yes, the judges were not very lenient for cases such as your example. I like both versions but feel Dick's was the best.

  • They allowed someone to guess a category just after Pass is said in the bonus round.

  • I think the only version of Pyramid that didn't allow that was the most recent Osmond version.

  • ...which sucked ass lol.

  • Because of the atrocious judging and gameplay in it. Plus many of the celebs, save for a few, weren't really all that great, and many of them didn't even know how to play the game.

Give me any celebrity who was a frequent guest on the 70's and/or 80's incarnations of the show over many of those who were on Donnymid. Even the Davidson version had the decency to bring back most of the old gang from the 70's and 80's.

  • That also became the case for a couple of Million Dollar Password episodes. Monique Coleman, for example, proved she wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed and was excruciating enough to watch.

  • I remember that episode and I'll totally concur re: Monique Coleman. I remember screaming at the TV for her to get some of the simplest word associations. We just better be thankful the contestant she was teamed with won any money at all. ;)

  • I still don't know what they were thinking casting her as a celebrity player. I would have had Vicki Lawrence or Carol Burnett or someone WHO COULD PLAY PASSWORD on the show.

  • Some of the celebrities on the Davidson version new to the game, such as Jason Alexander, also played really well.

  • Yes, I agree with you on that. On Donny Osmond's version of the program, if a contestant had passed on a subject, but correctly guessed it afterward, they would have to return to it in order to succeed in the process of elimination; on Dick Clark's version, the contestant would get the credit for it when correctly guessing it after passing.

  • I wonder how he managed to get away with the first one, because Constance guessed it after he already said "pass". If I were the judge, I'm not sure if I would have given it to him or not.

  • Good point bluebear. However, I do recall that giving the contestant credit for the subject after the pass was a common practice on the 80's/90's Pyramid shows.

  • I guess so. Now that I come to think of it, I'm probably thinking about the later versions of Password where they would get back to it if time permitted.

  • WOW! That was a close one!

  • That was a good right down the wire win.

  • Pressmin, please upload this win.

  • The $10K win graphic here looks just like how it did on the N.Y.C. episodes, only a tad bit larger.
