I know first hand the level of ignorance in the Christian church of today and I want to apologize for the way so many "christians" have misrepresented the faith, and i want to apologize that those of us who are trying to live according to the unabridged and properly quoted teachings of Christ have not done our jobs of making sure the world knows what true christianity is and more over who Christ really is.
As a follower of Christ we are called first to love God and to, second, love people. We don't always do this, and please forgive us, because we, just as you, are human and are subject to mistakes. However i do have to say that churchs that represent Christ as the Baptist protesters or many other extreme and zealot sects or denominations, though they may claim christianity, they are, by no means followers of true faith. They speak Hate when we are called to love, forgiveness, and mercy.

For starters, they all tend to claim a "caring" or "just" deity is the maker/ruler/judge of all beings, and that their religion is the right one. Thus, condemning a great many people. When it comes down to it, morality is the issue, and morality does not hinge upon religion. If there is a "god" then no decent person will be damned for their religion, since it is mostly affected by family, and location.

In my teenage years I was searching for myself and for a while I was a wiccan. It was great, the people were nice and I liked the idea of being a good person and also the "mystique" in it was really intriguing. I don't understand who gravity disproves God, but there is likewise, no proof of God exists either, so I'm on the fence.
I still go to Church every Sunday since that's what my family's done forever, but I don't go around trying to force people to convert (and yes, I am Catholic).

Also, they have never found the missing link, but they have falsified it. They claimed they recreated the evolution that started the world, but they falsified the tests.
Atheism has tried to trick the world many times, whereas Christianity (at least the Catholic Church) has never done so.

Remember "we are the church" you do not have to go to a "building" to commune with God. a group of believers can get together on the beach, in the living room or somewhere and God will show up.
I don't know if I addressed your question. Community coming together (anywhere) can be assembly (maybe oversimplified). I respect what you have been able to do over the last 4 or so years. Congrats....oh Matt is 5.

We never walked away from God just the foolishness. I am fortunate to walk into a church now a days and God be present. Listen if you feel a urge to get closer to God "The Church" would not be my first suggestion (unless you can sift through the nonsense. Find someone that can answer your questions (to your satisfaction) and explain as much as they are humanly able to.

I don't believe that any religion is necessarily correct, in any way shape or form. For starters, they all tend to claim a "caring" or "just" deity is the maker/ruler/judge of all beings, and that their religion is the right one. Thus, condemning a great many people. When it comes down to it, morality is the issue, and morality does not hinge upon religion. If there is a "god" then no decent person will be damned for their religion, since it is mostly affected by family, and location.

I agree with you Phil. I was raised Catholic as well and I did enjoy the singing, but the basics of the religion just never sat with me and I just felt like it was still that religion of old that was trying to control the common people. Anyway, now I believe there is something higher, but as to what...I'm not sure, but I don't think it's omnibenevolent.

1. phil, i want you to know that you can have a personal relationship with God and still be normal. I am baptist, i had a great childhood and teen years with all the fun bible classes, going to concerts (christian ofcourse), going to theme parks, out to eat, camping and jsut all this fun stuff... then i drifted away.. i just came back to God and my life has never been better.. yet, i watch your videos and enjoy life with out all that extra SINFUL stuff.

well, even though i was raised Christian, i had my doubts. and since i was 13 i decided that it doesn't make sense to put faith in anything that isn't palpable(for that matter, anything palpable too). I'd like to believe in God but no matter how much i do it wont change if he exists or not. it feels like the only reason people go to church is because they are scared of hell and they want to be saved imo.

In my teenage years I was searching for myself and for a while I was a wiccan. It was great, the people were nice and I liked the idea of being a good person and also the "mystique" in it was really intriguing. But once when I was doing one of the rituals I thought to myself, "why am I sitting in a ring full of shit?". I guess it wasn't just meant for me. Today I'm a loyal pastafarian. You know, the church of the flying sphagetti monster :'D Anyway, I would say he's 20-25.

@mrsadamlambert23 Church doesn't necessarily tell you how to be a good person, it just teaches you the bible and the stories and applies them to our own lives, I suppose yeah it is teaching people how to be a good person, but not quite so patronizing, then again, I can't speak for every church out there of course.

I believe in God.. I'm Christian.. I put my faith in God, I pray a little.. but I despise church. Church doesn't make one a good person. I believe there is no getting around the fact there is a God of some sort. I believe we all need something to believe in to give us strength.. humans need purpose.. I think the important thing is to be humble enough to put your pride aside, and accept that there is something in existence more powerful than ourselves

@hilaryann08 Well, if you're Catholic, then going to mass you get the Eucharist, which is very important. If you're not, going to a different church lets you praise God. It's a sign of Faith. I mean, you have 168 hours in a week. God asks you for just one.

@343GuiltySparkO4 I don't deny that church can be a good thing, but I don't think its necessary for salvation. I've had multiple bad experiences with going to church(es).. I'm almost certain I devote 1 hour per week to God... just on my own and in my own way. Showing up to a building once a week says very little about one's true relationship with God.. I praise Him and pray to Him, just in a way that makes me comfortable...

Phil, do not trust the church to bring you to God if you believe in God. Why trust a man (pastor) to help you have a relationship with God? It makes no sense, religion is man made. To me God is in everything, so I will learn a lesson from an animal I see while hiking or from a random person. The Bible says that wherever 2 or more are gathered in Gods name then God is there, so there's no need for these huge churches.

He was the one that established a church, and founded it with peter, "though art peter, and on this rock will I establish my church" Church is required. And even the scripture you quoted says this "Gathered together in HIS name" Which means you are there for the purpose of him. It doesn't say where "Anyone is gathered together for any reason, I am there"

1Relax people they are not out to disprove God as it happens Stephen believes in a God. Basically they can explain how the Universe was made, they don't explain this in any of the interviews, (they want you to go buy the book) Plus three religions that do believe in the "God" don't say that anything God causes can't be explained by Science. One thing to be noted is that Stephan doesn't bother with what was before the universe, all he says is that it doesn't have anything to do with the universe.
