  • Why would you bother doing this?

  • This netbook was in 2007. I waited for me i only costed 129.99. One gb ram 4 gb ssd and 8.9 inch display. With 900 mhz processor. My battery life is about 4.5 hours 4 cell battery.

  • all you need is a new internal hard drive. boot from usb in your bios menu(with the downloaded bootleg vista that you can get for free). pspiso.com

  • Sooo slow

  • @earthling10 Could you make a video showing how to install vista on a asus peecee 900 which is using linux xandros

  • what driver are you using for your internet

  • where can i download the drivers pls cuz still i dont have a net in my netbook.

  • can you give me some tips where can i install the vista because it has a 4 partitions and it says i cant use those hard disk. pls help me anyone:(

  • of course it can be done. i got it to run on a celeron 566mhz with 256mb ram.

  • No offense but u are dum. You should install window Xp Professional Instead. SAVE MORE SPACE.. and make the book run faster

  • I thought i had accomplished something by running OS X leopard and windows 7 on my 1.6ghz 8.9 inch acer aspire one. You sire, have 1-up'd me big time by running vister on a 900mhz eee pc.

  • @psychoclown420

The CPU was fine. The super slow SSD and 1GB Ram were the real bottlenecks.

  • @earthling10 Yeah, contrary to popular belief, not all SSD's are fast. The cheap 16gb ones can be slower than HDD's. In addition, 1gb of ram definitely isn't much for vista. It can technically run on 256mb, but if you try to run any programs you'll get a BSOD. I have 1gb in my netbook, and the OS and the background programs like frostwire can bring it up to around 900mb in windows 7: which is less ram hungry than vista.

  • why my asus had a white battery and not black

  • Vista SUCK!

  • I wouldnt reccomend you do this because if they put it on windows xp there has to be a reason, i had the ASUS eee pc 701 and i put windows xp on it and that just ruined the laptop, it wont charge properly, the colours vary sometimes & the laptop switches off & it doesnt even turn on sometimes it just stays at the "Asus EEE PC" thing when you start it. But you put windows vista on there i gaurantee you will have problems later on.

  • Hey man, how did you succeed in enabling Aero? Is it the beta version?

  • ger ubuntu! its a lot faster and better than vista!

  • what are you using for wifi bro?

  • it would run pretty sucky once a few programs are installed

i have the msi wind which runs alot faster and it can run vista too but after using it a while now it can run slow at times

  • Omg You People Sukk Asss! Why CAnt You Just Accept This. Instead Of Fucking Finding videos To fuking slag off!

  • This dude could just be displaying the picture off the pc behind (basically using the EEE pc as a monitor) DUH

  • no, because there's no way he can do that. That eeepc doesnt have VGA IN. Just OUT

  • nope it actuly works ive done it and so hav many other people as well but since its vista why the hell would you want it lol

  • Love it man! Don't know if I could live with the little bit of freeze now and then. But nice all the same:-)

  • what are cpu using % and memory %

  • I'm guessing its pretty high judging by how the fan came on pretty damn quickly.

  • too much work 2 put osx on aao

  • hey guys this is all the os's ive run on my acer aspire one since i bought it in january : windows xp home(sucked) windows 7 rc(was good but i kept getting the bsod) vista home premium lite (SUCKED MIGHTY BALLS!) vista ultimate (ran fine but i used a shit activator and got hal.dll problem) xp media center (sucked) ubuntu 904(was the shittest os i ever saw) and now im running vista home basic (ok so far) now im tied between buying vista ultimate, w7 ultimate or w7 home premium what u thnk i get?

  • well windows 7 home basic runs fine with 768mb of ram

so i'd assume that ultimate would be fine for productivity.

  • i ended up getting vista ultimate, but now ive got the rtm of windows 7 home premium

  • XP is is expert! :p

    Vista is a fail!

    Ubuntu.. havent tried

  • 7 rocks

    vista is good

    xp kicks ass

    ubuntu is a shit

  • No it is not fine running it just to do those tasks you are going to burn your cpu if you use it alot for that. Vista home basic will be fine nothing higher

  • vista is da best

    xp not that good

    ubuntu is reallly stupid

  • @NIKO4GTA You see I completely disagree. I think Ubuntu is the best. Xp is great. And vista is horrible.

  • @NIKO4GTA vista sucks harddddd

  • @NIKO4GTA You're an idiot.

  • 7 however is awesome!

  • ive never had a problem with vista..EVER...people need to stop watching the gay ass mac commercials anyway cant wait for Win 7

  • will the icons on ur desktop get smaller if you want them to??

  • yes

  • Ubuntu is FREE, more secure, faster and has better support

Vista is for gamers, people that don't know how to use computers

    XP and UBUNTU FTW!

  • Vista REALLY SUCKS! Ubuntu is much better!. For windows programs get XP

  • i have vista and UBUNTU..........and UBUNTU is a piece of shit

  • Quick, get Ubuntu on there with Fluxbox, before it catches on fire.

  • Ubuntu sux Vista rules!

  • Wrong. Please tell me how that virus ridden trainwreck is better than Ubuntu. Have you ever USED Ubuntu?

  • Yes it was installed on my Acer Extensa but i can't run my WIndows Software for Internet it is very good aber for Software not really. I find Vista better its my option ^^

  • Hi! Ive just installed vista on my 900, but i cant get the bloody wireless to work prop! I do have downloaded vista drivers! Any Thoughts?

  • allvetarN2 if ur reading this comment install uniblue driver scanner it scans for ur PC the hard ware stuff in ur PC that ur missing and it will download it for u so ur wireless will work again :) have fun :)

  • also a vlited vista?

  • you vista copy is illegal i think

  • you english skills is illegal i think

  • So basicly the 16gb part of the drive isnt as bad as people say....if you are running windows vista or 7, but XP has issues?

  • did you had trouble connecting to the internet?? i'm having a problem right now.. it says that i don't have a wireless adapter installed but i've already intalled it.. what do i do?

  • Wow from all i hear about the 900's 16gb SSD slowness of people crying about it, yours doesnt look slow at all, and im getting the 20gb version soon.

BTW on vista how much space did you have left?

  • GREAT VIDEO! This PC despite it size has just the right specs to have Vista installed on it with no problems at all. 1024 MB of RAM is really all you need. I had a HP Pavilion TX1308 with Vista installed, as well as 1 GB RAM. Nice post!

  • you can hear the fan noisier than the other version of asus eee pc..

  • I have Vista and it sucks!

  • i have vista is fuckin fast 4gb ram 150gb hard drive on mine its super fast

  • If you think Vista is fast, try a Mac or Linux system.

  • but thats yours, not everyone has 4gb ram!

xp and linux runs better on lower machines.

  • do you have it on netbook or desktop pc ?

if you have it on netbook tell me what are the problems ? please

  • chuto

  • yes i like it xD i wana get an Eee PC lol

  • are you randomly spamming rooms saying that stuff are fake?

  • nope, simply that laptop on the back made me too much suspicious...

  • oh, anyways I am an eep pc user myself although the 512 ram and the 4gig SSD that came with it are not very reliable. I just upgraded to a 1gig kingston ram and a 32gig Runcore SSD that will exrtemely blow you away for a netbook. I installed Vista Home premium. Though the graphics card is not the best for the special effects so yeah. There are now drivers for Vista and Windows 7 can also be installed.

  • What is the background noise after windows boots up ?

  • The fan from the USB DVD writer on the right.

  • CPU Fan I pressume

  • No. External DVD writer.

  • no it is impossible!! vista work slow on my machine with 2.8 ghz cpu and 2gb ram

  • dude after this i'm getting an eepc. i already have vista ultimate so yeah

  • did you get your WLAN running? i can't find a vista driver for the Atheros AR5007EG. =(

  • u said that you added a 16 gig module...how on earth did u do that? like is it internal or external or just like a flash drive?

  • he didnt really install vista on the eee pc. what he is did is he is using the eee pc as a monitor. u can tell because he has a vga cord running from his big laptop to the eee

  • Also there's no battery. I am so busted :(

  • ahaha you put the output video in asus ....is impossible that asus eee pc 900 with vista

  • vista is running smoothly on EEE PC 900...

  • Isnt so fast ;)

  • acer is gonna release another netbook in 2009. i´ll wait for it

  • Dont wait, its not getting cheaper all!

Its just costing more, the guys from the store i am buying 1 from say that!

    BUY 1 NOW

  • Don't. Acer fails in netbooks compared to Asus. Asus paved the path for the entire netbook industry, and in general have a good reputation. Get either the 900HA or 1000HA. You wont regret it.

  • that started up pretty fast.

  • Exactly how do people boot stuff when its an harddrive thats IN the computer? What files is needed, some ISO and then what? What software is to use, and how can it be recognised by the comp when it's not even on, i suppose you have to boot it when its on the startup, and if its right off the comp from some oftware, how is that done? Getting this 900 soon and I want ubuntu and maaby XP.

  • that fan is totally fuckedup .!! ..

  • i know it sounds so bad, thinking it might be because it`s on top of the other one.

    hey it just stopped!

  • OFF THE SIDEBAR XDDDDDD

  • hp mini 1000 is better

  • good job, well done

  • Nossa deve gastar mais bateria a ventoinha dele fica ligada com mais frequencia

  • would u recomend it because im thinking of getting it and installing vista

  • does the webcam and the wireless still work within vista on the eee pc?

  • Why don't you have your battery in?

    feels good man

  • can i have it on 1gb ram?

  • eeeej maaan where is the batteriii...

    PEAPLE THIS IS A FAKE...

  • It's invisible!

  • yes its fake, laptops cannot run without batteries even if you plug the power connector on it :roll

  • Hey, you can run a Eee Pc without the battery. I have seen Eee Pc´s on all electronic-stores without battery. It´s just like driving a portable DVD-player without battery. LOL!

  • Not only they do run without battery but you are advised to remove the battery when it's 100% charged and work only with the power cable to avoid wearing the battery

  • yeah they can i alwas do tht

  • Eh, dude, you know why that power connector was invented besides charging the battery?

    Guess not.

  • I have an eee PC 900.I changed its RAM and installed a 2GB.Furthermore I have a 12GB SSD and a 16GB SDHC Card.Its running XP.Can I install vista home premium on it?How?

  • oh, and i wished you talked =)

  • is the max ram 2g?

  • Yes, but only certain brands of ram.

  • Nice to know that Vista works, but if had to get this for someone now i know it can take XP for sure i'd pop a 1GB stick in there though 512 is a bit low but all in all it's not that bad.

  • i dont reccomend having this, it sucks ass, you have so many disabilities from what you COULD do in xp, i mean i got a £50 capture card for machinimas on the 360. doesn't work on vista, how much does that suck eh?

  • Probably took like a month to install Vista on the SSD that comes with this laptop. I took me 3.5 hours to get XP up and running on my new Acer Aspire One (the one that comes with Linux)

  • Wow ! Very nice !

Vista can run on the eeePC if you doesn't need specifics usage... but I think the Windows Media Player is a bit slow on this video...

And, the Windows Media Center (include in the Home Premium of Vista) can run ?

  • I would say to " Disable all the items that you don't want to boot up at start."

but you probably thought of that?

  • mine with eeePCLinuxOS performs circles around yours....

  • No Aero Glass?

    =/

  • Nope. The GMA graphics chip can't run Aero of flip 3D

  • so u mean there are nothing i can do to make it boot faster?

  • 1. Buy a high capacity 16GB "SDHC Ultra" card, slot it into the EEE PC, go to BIOS, set the SD card as boot drive, re-install your OS on that SD card and you boot time should halve. The 30GB HDD will automatically appear as a secondary drive in My Computer (d:/) creating 46GB total Memory.

    2. Replace the 1GB 533Mhz DDR with 1GB 667Mhz DDR2 Ram (go to Crucial to check compatibility).

  • or get u a real laptop..

  • Hi, i just bought the eee pc 900 celeron 30GB hdd + genuine windows xp home. i found the boot up time were reticules, very very slow.. it takes almost a minute plus to start up... nothing installed.. in fact i bought 2 unit and both are the same.. i wonder how you boot up your vista that fast?? please share..

  • I'm pretty sure the unit you have uses a slower 1.8" 30GB HDD (as found in iPods) rather than a SDD. Perhaps someone can confirm this? Check out my video "Asus EEE PC 900 Vista Vs XP Vs Linux - Boot & Shutdown Test" for proper boot/shut down comparisons.

  • Nice vid man, but it would have been nicer if you spoke during the sessions. Describing how the machine is working and how you experience it.

  • I'll bear that in mind for future videos.

  • is there a dvd on the Eee PC 2G Surf

  • no no eee has optical drive. You must use external USB one

  • hi , good video by the way. how did you install windows vista. Also is there an optical drive(cd,dvd drive) to watch dvds

  • good vid..

    but.. dude..

    SAY SOMETHING xD

  • idk wether to belive it or not did u just run the os off a external hdd or what coz idk how the fuck it would fit vista on the c: drive dont think theirs enough space

  • C: is 16GB and it fits without a problem or hacks.

  • what dell comp is it that eee stand on?

  • what screen res do you have to use for that thing, 320 x 480 ???

Either way i looks awful on that tiny screen

  • 1024 x 600 on the 8.9" screen which is one of the highest pixel densities of any LCD panel available and as a result looks great.

  • Oh, it Doesnt look That good. Bt i hate laptops, im a desktop man myself!

    More Power for Less Money!

  • I'm like you a desktop (gamer) man. But it's nice to have a portable PC when you aren't at your desk (if that ever happens :P)

  • Yeah, I do have a Laptop (Macbook) but I Only use it when im on the move!

  • Hey, according to Microsoft, if you own Vista, you also own a license for XP. So you can use whichever one you want. I still don't know HOW it's supposed to work in practice, but I swear they just went public saying this.

  • It's related to Vista Business edition only where you can obtain an XP licence if you're not happy with it.

  • haha thats hooot xD

i wana have xp on my asus mini laptop because i dont like linux -.-

but i dont know how to do it xD

  • The video above is running in a standard install of Vista with 1 GB of ram. VHP installs nicely on the 16GB internal SD card without any hacks. With 2GB of 533Mhz DDR2, and additional 16GB of SD (36GB total), turning off indexing and other optimizations, the performance practically doubles.

  • gosh thats something but it does meet minimum reqquirements whats the battery life.

  • Vista eats up an additional 15minues of battery. The batteries are tiny so a simple solution is to buy a spare. The power cord and brick are tiny too.

  • its like a austin powers mini me

  • If you open up a DVD box, that's about the size of the system. The box in the shot above is in the distance so looks smaller compared to the EEE PC than it actually is.

  • how much is the 900?....

  • it would run kinda slow wouldnt it?

  • Hows the battery life with Vista?

  • 20 minutes shorter without any vista power optimisations.

  • whats the humming sound is it from the laptop?

  • The USB DVD drive and a hypersensitive mic.

  • Speak, my man, speak!!!

How can you do review without talking about the product????

    Incredible!!!

  • how big is your laptop?

  • It's a Dell Inspiron 9400 with a 17" screen.

  • can u play cds on it

  • it doesnt have a cd drive built in.

  • you can install xp and vista on an external USB CD/DVD drive?????????? can u install it on an external USB harddrive??cuz if u can i will defenetly try and get this pc

  • well if you buy this pc at bestbuys then it comes with xp. but i dont beleive you can install an operating system on an external hd. correct me if im wrong

  • actually yes you can install an operating system on an external hard drive, but it's not recommended. and ive heard its a pain to do it.

  • There's an option in the Bios to boot from internal SD, external SD, USB HDD/pen drive.

  • That laptop looks like it could swallow the Eee PC so easily. The Eee is so tiny when you compare it to a normal notebook. Imagine how small the Eee would be compared to HP's notebook, the HDX

  • You can use a program like Bootit from Lexar and it formats the thumb stick as a bootable drive, and you can flip the bit, which means windows thinks its a Fixed NTFS drive, but I have not been able to do it right. Windows installs on it just fine, but when you go to boot from the Thumb Stick, you get a blue screen every time. Booting Fedora 9 or other OS's from USB is easy. But I wish I knew how to get windows to boot from usb

  • ive got a vista laptop now,,and im gonna sell the eee most likely,or keep it for holidays,

  • as far as i know, all the volumes are up full,,,and to reformat you need a external dvd drive and i dont have one,,i would like to use a different distro on the eee,

  • Xubuntu should be released in October. This is the EEE PC customised Ubuntu. It will have drivers for all hardware including camera and should be a good alternative to Xandros

  • how do you reformat eee pc there no cd rom drive please tell me how

  • external cd/dvd rom.

    -OR-

    boot from sd card

  • The option to boot from SD card or USB is in the bios but I have not been able to do this. None of the OS install on the SD/USB without complex hacks.

  • i got a eee pc and the volume is so low that its hard to hear,,i may have some hearing loss from work but the volume sucks.,my mobile phone is way louder for playing mp3,s.

i think im just gonna buy a proper laptop with vista on soon,

  • The sound on my units were pretty loud. Have you played with all the settings? You can always buy some cheap USB speakers.

  • i'd like to have one Asus EEE PC.. soooo small.. i could carry it around in school..

  • Damn that thing is TINY! I'm getting my EEE PC 900 16G (YES ITS OUT, AND FOR $399!!! GOOGLE IT).

  • I had a play with the MSI Wind today powered by the atom and it beats the EEE PC in quality, ergonomics, keyboard size, screen quality and functionality. The 901 has some MAJOR competition!
