Really is ridiculous currently driving a Fiesta ST 1.8 im (19) 2 years NCB and when 18 I brought a WRX HB 08 2.5 (which is currently garaged) but the insurance was around 14-17 grand (quotes) done the math and next year the subaru's insurance should be around 9-11 grand allowing me to drive it. so iv'e had to aquire 2 cars because the insurance was to high on one and have had to wait till im 20 to drive my initial first brought car. what a joke insurance companies are very scandalous

The insurance companies in the UK take advantage of car insurance being a legal requirement to drive by charging young drivers an insane amount of money. They target us specifically because it doesn't really matter to them whether we buy from them or not because the main demographic they focus on is drivers between 30-50 because they make the most money from that group so they charge them less to attract more customers. Fucking dickheads!

It's a very sensible move to have your teen contribute part of their premium. Teens you pay their own bills tend to be more responsible behind wheels. They are also more open to any ideas that will help them cut down costs.

@mackat4ck I agree with you, it is prejudice, but it is based on a little truth. Experience matters. When you first hopped into a car, i imagine you would have trouble driving, i know i did. but the more experience i got the better i became, and no matter what you say, that is reality. I agree with you, but i can see where they come from. what they need to do is drastically increase the rate at which they reduce premiums, so it becomes cheaper sooner.

older drivers drive that slow that they create the accidents by making people overtake them all the time. there should be a background check on each indivdual person and other factors should be taken into consideration before an insurance quote it given. for example i have had a bike on the road for 2 years but that doesnt lower my i car insurance. but if i crashed my bike then it would put my car insurance up! insurance companys only take things into account if it benifits them.

@86Corvus well obviosly they take things into consideration such as age and crash records but how can it be right that if i crash on a bike it increases my car insurance but if i get 2 years ncb on my bike it doesnt lower my car insurance in the slightest? and it should be in there interest because they should be able to work out that if a young lad has ridden a bike for two years and has built up a ncb on that bike then it should make my insurance to someone new to the road!cant you see this?

@lukeere the simple answer is that they take theyre own companys welbeing over your excelent biking skills. they are biased towards theyre own interest but tbh who isnt. Theyre providing a service to you but theyre not government founded and they have profiting in mind when providing that service. Its like anny other buisness, they colect materials - your money- and for that money they provide you with car insurrance service. they calculate the offers so that they profit from the buisness

@lukeere you cant except them to makeno profit cause when they dont profit they cant expand and that means they cant provide more insurrance offers or feed theye employes, running a buisnes costs. they invest the money because they have large sum of money they can make money of stock broking and get a profit there too. theres nothing wrong about it as it is you who signs the agreement with them and noone is forcing you to buy the insurrance.

The advises in the video regarding keeping kids off the policy is pretty stupid - 1. many insurers will pay for the accident but then go back to you and charge back because you intentionally did not put kid on the policy; 2. guess where insurers need to get money to pay for the accidents? yes, from policyholders - if you don't understand how insurance work - your problem. My father says that ones need to earn enough for living, and not save every penny! He is absolutely right. Get a job!!!
