God says to meditate on His word day and night Psalms 1:2, emptying your mind of thoughts is what new age and yoga does. These practices are not of God. If you want to hear the voice of God, He will speak to you through His word, For His word is a light unto our feet and a lamp unto our path. @dprod1 there is a HUGE difference between being still and focusing that he is god (which by the way is taking it out of context) and "clearing your mind" it is new age and totally wrong. Clearing your mind is also used in hypnosis, which is obviously wrong too. Also in Toronto, I've had a bad experience in which the man praying for me was pushing me from my forehead to try and sway my body so that I would "fall" in order to soak. I like Toronto, but there are a lot of wrong things about it.

@dprod1 This is the favorite scripture used for this movement but it's the very scripture you should read as not to do it. Be still and know "HE" is God....that means get rid of all your dead works and trust in him. There is nothing a person can do to become closer to God than just believing. We are as close to him as we will ever be just by faith that he did what he said he did. This is what religion is born of...doing something to gain favor or closeness with God. A trance is the Spirit taking predominance over the mind and body, and our ignorance of what it really is (as with you and several others on YouTube) will assume this is of the devil. @WeirdBrainGoo Number 1, who cares if it looks like new age. If you actually read your bible you would know that we judge by fruit and not by appearance, Matt 7, John 7:24. The fruit we look for is, does it make one get closer to Jesus? I think the biggest counterfeit Holy Ghost in the church today is the American Dream. It's the idea that the Christian life is about going to college, making money, have a white picket fence, have a family, go to church once a week, 401k, an no Great Commission.
@MissedTheMark I do read my Bible... I don't know what the fruit of prayer soaking people is, because I don't know any practicioners of this. Of course material gains aren't a measure of the fruits in your life. The gifts of the spirit are, however. And the gifts of the spirit include mellowness, being loving, being calm and joyful, being sober and wise. I see a lot of people (yes, in videos, not in irl) acting like the opposite of sober and saying it's a gift of God. This is why I'm concerned.

If that was the case then the Holy Spirit needs a spanking for day of Pentecostal in the upper room in Acts 2. The appearance to the onlookers was that all the apostles were drunk. If you sit in a two hour movee, are you not soaking in the world's ideas? Even it's a Christian movie, man's spin gets in it somewhere. You are willing to sit quietly, not saying a word, for two and three hours of a movie contemplating those ideas, soaking in those ideas, meditating on those ideas....
Many watch movies with cussing and sex outside marriage and all kinds of things that we don't believe in...yet we sit silently for a couple hours and just take it in....
So, rather than people praising and applauding those who take quiet time with the Lord, we are looked down on. If I try to unplug and tell people I don't wish to go (wherever) with them, I feel guilty and feel like they will think something is wrong with me because I don't wish to be running every minute. They'll think I'm too tired or lazy or anti-social...or something. I know people who can't even be alone, always want someone there. Well, sometimes, I just want the Lord there.

I think what's really gone wrong is that people are so addicted to being busy they can't take the time to rest in God's Presence. We idolize those who work for ten and twelve hours a day. We think that any time off work should be jam packed with activity...and if we have down time, we are watching TV or on our computers....
Contemplation, meditation, solitude it's ALL in the Bible...yet, many tell me it's wrong to practice such things. They criticize contemplative prayer, though it's all through the Psalms. They criticize meditation, which is also all through the Psalms. They tell me if I seek solitude, I am a recluse and this is wrong. Jesus went alone to pray ALL NIGHT LONG, and is this not solitude? Why do you call soaking prayer deception? Mary sat at His feet and listened to all He said (she wasn't talking). Martha was busy serving, and Jesus told her Mary had chosen the BEST PART. Soaking prayer is practiced by born-again children of the Most High God as they seek fellowship with Him under music offered to His glory and the prayers of the brethren. For crying out loud, the whole first century church didn't have most of the bible let alone the old testament. Even if they had the old testament, the vast majority couldn't read it. If they had any new testament they would have been lucky to even have a gospel and no more than one of Paul's letters.. We as Christians really don't know how to treat the bible. If you were aware of how many times it says in the Bible to "be still" or "wait for the LORD" you might realize the importance of being still before the God. I'm undecided on some of this. I am convinced that a good deal of this is demonic manifestations, what with the barking and roaring etc... I, however, do believe in Godly miracles and being able to experience God's presence. Some of the testimonies of manifestations in this "Soaking" thing do resemble Kundalini and Reiki sensations. I also know that Satan tries to counterfeit the real thing by making some people think his is real and some to think its all fake including the real thing.

Soaking prayer is not New Age yoga. It's just people hungering for intimacy with Jesus and taking time out to be in his presence and letting Him do all the talking. Some people are afraid of this stuff because they have more faith in the Devil's ability to deceive than they do in the Holy Spirit's ability to lead.

The new age channels a spirit, we are vessels of God the Holy Spirit. When we focus on God, Jesus He draws close to us, His presence comes close. Those that empty themselves without the focus on Jesus may be in danger of a spirit coming upon them that is not of God. The Lord says to test the spirits to see whether they are from God. Nothing's wrong with giving it a shot. Everytime I've experience something new with God for the first time, it's usually more than obvious. I'm willing to give it a shot. If nothing happens, then nothing happens, and I'll ignore it. I'm always in the neighborhood to have a greater connection with the LORD.

New age is a perversion of what is good. that is what the devil does, he perverts what is already good. Soaking is pure, it is righteous. it is spending very intimate time with God. satan wants to steal that away from the church and call it new age, thats why this is "controversial" but we cannot let him. we must take back what he has stolen and glorify God... titus 1:15 - "To the pure, all things are pure."
I do believe Paul tells us to dwell upon things above. Things that are good, pure, true, holy, etc....thats what soaking is.
Dwelling on things above, getting alone with our savior king and spending some time getting to know him. There must be a balance of bread (the word) and water (the spirit). Otherwise it becomes legalism or mysticism.
Ultimaltely, Jesus wants alone time with every single person and if "soaking" is how you get alone with Him, its a good thing.
I would agree with this. I've not researched this deeply, but just based on this video, I don't see any danger here. It reminds me a bit of Zephaniah 3:17 if anything. God says he will quiet us in his love. That's not something to be afraid of...yet we often seem to fear forms of worship we cannot *control* if you know what i mean. We like to have a structure, and it scares us, I think, to let go of that and let the Spirit lead completely.
This is purely yoga 101...why are Christians taking on worship forms of false religions. God is after us. He longs to speak to us. How could we hear were we not "in the Spirit", just like John of old?
God says to meditate on His word day and night Psalms 1:2, emptying your mind of thoughts is what new age and yoga does. These practices are not of God. If you want to hear the voice of God, He will speak to you through His word, For His word is a light unto our feet and a lamp unto our path. @dprod1 there is a HUGE difference between being still and focusing that he is god (which by the way is taking it out of context) and "clearing your mind" it is new age and totally wrong. Clearing your mind is also used in hypnosis, which is obviously wrong too. Also in Toronto, I've had a bad experience in which the man praying for me was pushing me from my forehead to try and sway my body so that I would "fall" in order to soak. I like Toronto, but there are a lot of wrong things about it.

Be still and know "HE" is God....that means get rid of all your dead works and trust in him. There is nothing a person can do to become closer to God than just believing. @MissedTheMark I do read my Bible... I don't know what the fruit of prayer soaking people is, because I don't know any practicioners of this. Of course material gains aren't a measure of the fruits in your life. The gifts of the spirit are, however. And the gifts of the spirit include mellowness, being loving, being calm and joyful, being sober and wise. I see a lot of people (yes, in videos, not in irl) acting like the opposite of sober and saying it's a gift of God. This is why I'm concerned.

You are willing to sit quietly, not saying a word, for two and three hours of a movie contemplating those ideas, soaking in those ideas, meditating on those ideas....

If I try to unplug and tell people I don't wish to go (wherever) with them, I feel guilty and feel like they will think something is wrong with me because I don't wish to be running every minute. Contemplation, meditation, solitude it's ALL in the Bible...yet, many tell me it's wrong to practice such things. They criticize contemplative prayer, though it's all through the Psalms. They criticize meditation, which is also all through the Psalms. They tell me if I seek solitude, I am a recluse and this is wrong. Jesus went alone to pray ALL NIGHT LONG, and is this not solitude? So, those who say we are practicing the New Age...wrong! We are praticing the BIble.

Why do you call soaking prayer deception? Mary sat at His feet and listened to all He said (she wasn't talking). Martha was busy serving, and Jesus told her Mary had chosen the BEST PART. I am a BIG FAN of soaking in God's Presence! How can you go out and minister Jesus if you aren't full of Him, and how can you become full of Him if you don't take time to rest in His Presence and let Him fill you?

Soaking in God's presence gives me peace, and peace is a fruit of His Spirit. What happened to "Be still and know that I am God"? This is not new age. It's old truth from God's Word. We are to meditate on God and His Word...and how can we without becoming quiet before Him?

When one is indwelt by the Holy Spirit, truth is the outcome. When people get involved with these new age moves truth is lost. Sound doctrine isn't enough, people want to feel something. Jesus wondered whether he would find faith when he returned and this is one of the reasons why. The word of God is our anchor, in these stormy times without it people are adrift and eventually shipwreck! Arnott has so much to answer for!

If you've never spent time in fasting and prayer and emptying your whole self and your selfish thoughts and desires and your soul's desire to run everywhere and think of 2 billion things then you have no clue what it means to "soak" in GOD and to just bask in His Presence waiting upon HIM. Not a stupid thinking about NOTHING and whatever comes your spiritual way grab onto it stupidity but an actual mission in your heart to reach GOD and not come out (LIKE MOSES) until you encounter Him!

What's the difference between soaking prayer and new age? I'll answer that. Soaking prayer is practiced by born-again children of the Most High God as they seek fellowship with Him under music offered to His glory and the prayers of the brethren. New Age is spiritual mumbo jumbo that denies the glory due to Christ. The former is good. The latter is bad.

I am part of a church that has been around for over 2,000 years and can prove it historically and scripturally (Orthodox Christianity). I seek to serve God, not seek a god to serve me. All these churches were created by "some person" and not Christ or His apostles, if you take comfort in that, then more power to you.

It's NOT new age. Don't call it "soaking" just call it being still and knowing He is God! In 2009, I received an amazing vision FROM GOD that was a life-time experience of the Love of Jesus. We should ALL be careful what we JUDGE. I have received healing and as my husband (from cancer in the pancreas)How can forms of worshiping Jesus be from Satan? Call it "meditation"- the Bible does not tell us NOT to lay on the floor. Its says to find that "quiet" place with God, why can't THAT be the floor.

What about being in the presence of the Holy Spirit? It does not matter what position you are in. In many churches people are slain in the Spirit of the Holy Ghost. We have to devote ourselves to God, mind body and spirit. What is wrong with this? As I said, serve the Lord with all you heart mind and soul. For crying out loud, the whole first century church didn't have most of the bible let alone the old testament. Even if they had the old testament, the vast majority couldn't read it. If they had any new testament they would have been lucky to even have a gospel and no more than one of Paul's letters.. We as Christians really don't know how to treat the bible. We say what it never says..

If you were aware of how many times it says in the Bible to "be still" or "wait for the LORD" you might realize the importance of being still before the God. We've become so accustom to our busy fully lives that slowing down just seems so wrong...and we miss out on WHO God really is. There is nothing unbiblical about being still in His presence.

I'm undecided on some of this. I am convinced that a good deal of this is demonic manifestations, what with the barking and roaring etc... I, however, do believe in Godly miracles and being able to experience God's presence. Some of the testimonies of manifestations in this "Soaking" thing do resemble Kundalini and Reiki sensations. I also know that Satan tries to counterfeit the real thing by making some people think his is real and some to think its all fake including the real thing.

Soaking prayer is not New Age yoga. It's just people hungering for intimacy with Jesus and taking time out to be in his presence and letting Him do all the talking. Some people are afraid of this stuff because they have more faith in the Devil's ability to deceive than they do in the Holy Spirit's ability to lead.

We are to "meditate" (ponder) on His word not perform meditation rituals resonating on a word (although it is Jesus name, would this be considered vain repetition since it is not focusing on Christ but the word Christ?) Anyone involved in this needs to read "The beautiful side of evil" by Johanna Michaelsen. She had a spirit guide named Jesus, she was certain it was the Lord, she finally found out it was demon..God set her free. Christians don't need yoga to get closer to God, we need truth! We can't do anything to get closer to God because he lives inside us. We put away the flesh by knowing the truth and walking in the spirit. Gods word and his pirit of truth are all we need. The new age channels a spirit, we are vessels of God the Holy Spirit. When we focus on God, Jesus He draws close to us, His presence comes close. Those that empty themselves without the focus on Jesus may be in danger of a spirit coming upon them that is not of God. The Lord says to test the spirits to see whether they are from God. The simple test is to say the name of "Jesus". If the spirit is not from the Lord it will leave.

Psalms 46:11 "Be still and know that I am God".....this word "know" is the same word as in Gen. 4:1 "And Adam "knew" Eve and she concieved...." what it means is be still and expeirence God on a deep personal level... it's not an uscriptural concept. Everytime the Kingdom of God comes in contact with the religious mindset/spirit that spirit rises up in oppostion....because religion is about controlling God and mankind....

If you want to know if something isn't right.. look to the scripture. This "soaking" stuff was packaged by the Arnott's and they are making a fortune. Will people ever chase truth instead of manifestations? We are in the last days and faith is a thing of the past. It's no wonder Jesus questioned whether there would be any faith when he returned! SAD!

Nothing's wrong with giving it a shot. Everytime I've experience something new with God for the first time, it's usually more than obvious. I'm willing to give it a shot. If nothing happens, then nothing happens, and I'll ignore it. I'm always in the neighborhood to have a greater connection with the LORD.

I'll pray before I do something like this, but if the opportunity arises, I'll take it. My relationship with The Most High is so strong that if this is a danger, I'm confident He'll let me know.

I do believe Paul tells us to dwell upon things above. Things that are good, pure, true, holy, etc....thats what soaking is.
Dwelling on things above, getting alone with our savior king and spending some time getting to know him. There must be a balance of bread (the word) and water (the spirit). Otherwise it becomes legalism or mysticism.
Ultimaltely, Jesus wants alone time with every single person and if "soaking" is how you get alone with Him, its a good thing.

I would agree with this. I've not researched this deeply, but just based on this video, I don't see any danger here. It reminds me a bit of Zephaniah 3:17 if anything. God says he will quiet us in his love. That's not something to be afraid of...yet we often seem to fear forms of worship we cannot *control* if you know what i mean. We like to have a structure, and it scares us, I think, to let go of that and let the Spirit lead completely.

This is purely yoga 101...why are Christians taking on worship forms of false religions. Soaking is not a good thing, check out it's origin and you will see it is cultic and opens doors for demons to enter and deceive. Check out Johanna Michaelson book "The Beautiful side of evil" she had a demon spirit named jesus come to her when she did her prayer soaking. This is one more deception and entry to deceive Christians...it is sad that people don't see it! Jesus warned us!

What's wrong with hinduism? It's the same thing, altering your mind to music and or contemplative prayer is simply hinduism and has nothing to do with God! As it says in one of the how to leaflets... Sessions often end with Holy Spirit laughter and fun with both Father God and each other. This is yoga in christian clothing the Arnotts are making a fortune with this garbage! Without question satan has stepped up for his most vicious attack on the body of Christ! The instructions in the soaking manual the Arnotts put out is no different than yoga. If you are sticking up for yoga then I would say your gift of discernment comes up short, to put it mildly. Eastern mysticism is rampant in the Church today! Anyone wanting to walk in truth needs to keep his nose to Gods word...you won't be deceived with the knowledge of Gods truth. I have spent long hours debating this stuff, I do know what I speak of. Consider the meaning of the centuries old hymn, "Be Thou My Vision". This is a song for lovers. For this one desiring to soak in God's Presence, this thirst is like a deer panting after water. The Seeker is driven to seek after God until he or she prays through, when the pursuer becomes aware that he or she him/herself is the one being pursued. This is when God manifests Himself. God is after us. He longs to speak to us. How could we hear were we not "in the Spirit", just like John of old?
