Agreed. What Bush did to 'set the standard low' as you put it, was to allow every piece of legislation through, spending like a drunken democrat who just won the lotto. Republicans in congress followed suit, bastardizing the party which is why they got kicked out. Now we've got a Dem. congress in there spending even more and I'd hate to see what would happen (although I already know) with a Dem. Pres. to go along with it.
