Ah, yes, attack the EXACT THINGS Jesus Christ stood for as "Communist" so small minds will freak out and think it's somehow evil. The bigotry and greed Beck supports is evil and directly polar opposite of Christ's way.
And it's VERY telling that you also include a slam on Barack Obama--proving you're interested only in cheap political hackery and lies, NOT in being a Christian OR an American. Obama isn't even a liberal, and you morons pretend he's "Marxist". Pathetic.
Jim Wallis was saying that when you try and cut out all the scriptures about the poor from scripture you have little left. He was saying that that kind of Bible is an american bible...that is a bible where the poor are forgotten about. Obviously Beck knows little about Walllis and is speaking out of context
And this is a Mormon advising us on biblical truth? They only believe in the bible when it lines up with the Book of Mormon. Joe Smith claimed that all Christian creeds are an abomination and their professors are all corrupt. That is the Mormon view of Christians.
the problem with Becks argument is the lack of understanding Jewish culture in the bible. He applies an individualistic mind set instead of Jewish communal thought when saying God told us not government. Ask a rabbi whose job it is to show hospitality, taking care of the poor, the widow, the orphan, the foreigner. all of us. Look at any time justice was mentioned of whom they are seeking to give justice? Those in power, like government. we seek justice to those who have the power to give it.
So according to Beck any one who helps the poor is marxist? Is that a bad thing? Fuck! I'm not Googling for this douchebag. We got money for bombs we got money for the poor. No more bombs, no more poor. No more poor, no more bombs.
The bible has many verses chiding the lazy for not working and feeding their families. There's also the teach a man to fish reference...and idle hands reference. The point is God wants us to be free, and give freely. Not enslaved by men or governments. At the end of the day the washington elite (R and D) sit in their cushy chairs and laugh at our arguments and continue to do whats in THEIR best interest. They don't give a rats a$# about any of us. That's why we rely on GOD not them!
"How many references are there to the poor? Well lemme ask you this, how many references to the government being responsible to take care of them?"
Okay...how many references are there to the government being responsible to keep gay people from marrying? Or fetuses from being aborted? None, and yet we're supposed to outlaw such things because of biblical teachings. And yet helping the poor is ignored despite being mentioned FAR MORE in the bible?!
I really dont understand how anyone can take anyone seriously who says something like that in the middle of that quote. It's absolutely ridiculous.
One can talk about how the government should not be taking the place of Christians. But IF that is the case, if we are to entrust taking care of the poor to the followers of Christ (as the Bible clearly does state) then the huge masses of Christians in the USA should be taking care of the poor. Is that happening? Not enough.
@Glenn666 What do you mean? If you mean one shouldn't use the democratic party to push people into doing a Christian's duty... well yes there is an argument for that. But for me (this is just my opinion), it comes down to what in this world will help the poor, the environment, and peace. Whatever that option happens to be, that will dictate my vote. Being as selfless as Jesus tells us to be includes voting against my own best interest.
@ansigs I agree with you...However I would like for you to show me which religious text or Jesus said to elect officials to do the work on our behalf. Free humanity doesn't need a government to do the job that Jesus expected of us. Its like cavemen if you vote for democrats because they say,"hey you have 5 more apples then the other guy so I have to take your apples away because I said so and instead of a club to the head, its taxation to ridiculous levels."
@ansigs Am I wrong? I mean shit, if you and I kept the money that is rightfully ours we would have much more leverage to spread the wealth ourselves. The government has been clearly failing miserably at helping those in poverty, thus free men like you and I must stand for peace and let the government know that we don't need them to help ourselves.
@Glenn666 Glenn beck willfully not debate Jim Wallis. His abuse of scripture on government and "general common Good" is laughable.HE wants social justice and priviledge for the rich only.Jim Wallis and Dorothy Day have helped the suffering of others more abundantly than Glenn Beck ever will.He is a wealthy coward ...indeed.
@777bal By hating America? That's great, spread the hatred for the white rich man! Social justice....is racist, it doesn't exist, God does not have any politics
I do not believe the joke that Glenn Beck is a half literate talking head. After seeing this video, my impression of him is that of a man with a perverted, half-educated mind. Now I know what straight thinking, Bible-searching, Christ-loving evangelicals are talking about. Thanks for the post, this is very enlightening. I'm glad this guy was not around when Jesus was crucified, or he will have an added title above his head on the cross saying, "...he is also a Marxist... and a Communist ! ".
10 "Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 "Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Woe unto you, Glenn Beck. You're on the wrong side, and your god is america. The REAL GOD will judge you, rest assured.
@mowriter Glenn beck is a double talking fool.Glenn beck has no sense of history or the bible. He sees everything from a Radical Indivdual egoism. He is a simpleton who is making way for the wealthy to obstruct and convince people to work against their own interests and believe the wealthy are to be worshiped ...a perverted form of Calvinism.
I wonder what Glenn would say about Acts 4:32 - 35
And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: and no one said that any of the things which he possessed was his won, but they had everything in common. ...
34 There was not a needy person among them, for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of what was sold and laid it at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made to each as any had need.
Freedom is not free. If you want the chance to become a billionaire, the cost is being responsible for those that cannot. Anyone can reach that level, but not everybody can. The quwstion America faces today is a question of priorities. The money spent on the military vs spending on healthcare or education. Someone should consider working for peace and justice. I think Jesus would do that
The govt has been corrupted by the wealthy. The system is designed to help them consolidate wealth. "It takes money to make money" By changing some rules the distribution of wealth could be more fair, and help the middle class and working poor. It is the govt role to protect the people from theives whether they use a gun or a pen. Secondly your rights are not god given, they are society given. We choose to live as a counrty with a collective destiny. That implies collective responsibility.
Glenn does some major errors. 2:09 - The government was non-reprensentative of the society in the Roman-Empire. Normal, that was an autocracy. Why giving them any homework that they will not do since they are looking for their prestige and power? The Bible give homework to individual as part of the society,
Also, he his wrong about something else: their is not one example of a successful system of government at all. All government is going to fail, result in anarchy (which is bad).
There are two kinds people who benefit from taking the money from those who earn it (the producers) to give it to those who don't (the Welfare slugs)
The first: those who make a career of seizing and distributing what is not theirs
Second: those who make a career out of producing nothing and unjustly receiving that which they have not earned
A third and insignificant category are those who have little skin in either game, yet feel they have the authority to dictate the lives of everyone else
Taxes were contrived to cover the costs of the Federal Reserve, traditionally import duties and tariffs cover the costs of running the government. It was only after the "Progressives" decided they knew better how to spend my money; the Government resorted to putting a gun the taxpayers head in order to redistribute my money to Welfare leeches.
No matter how you spin it, robbery is robbery. I intend to fight it with my last breath.
@eugeneonegin09 Like a drug-addicted child, you justify ever more money to fund immoral endeavor. The uber-liberal Harvard University study found the government wastes 60% of all the taxes it collects in waste and fraud. 12 million Illegals are stealing some manner of our entitlements, most of the people on Welfare, have no right being on it. Yet just try pulling the drug from the addict, and the howl every threat and insult they can conjure, JUST LIKE YOU. Are you one of the entailment addicts?
Mat 5:11 "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
Mat 5:12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
------------------------------------------
You're done, Beck. DONE. THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for FINALLY identifying the vast gulf of difference between the right wing and the way of Jesus.
Do people actually value this man's logic? It is pretty weak and sensationalist. I would like to see him dialogue with Jim Wallis (who is not a communist by the way).
Do people actually value this man's logic? It is pretty weak and sensationalist. I would like to see him dialogue with Jim Wallis (who is not a communist by the way).
Glenn Beck is wrong about the Bible never talking about the government helping the poor. Ezekiel 34 talks about the "shepherds" of Israel. Back then a shepherd was a euphemism for a king. Essentially, Ezekiel bashes the kings for not taking care of the people.
I love how Glenn Beck and can twist and change what the argument is even about to fit his agenda. The whole controversy here Beck is that you had the gall to condemn the churches (including your own by the way) that preached social justice. No one is talking about the role of government here, the problem and issue that we are discussing is whether or not churches and individuals should try and help their fellow man, because that is what you condemned.
it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God._____jesus christ. jesus christ wasn't a fucking capitalist. if hell exists, glen beck is going there
There is a new generation arising.. A nameless, faceless, placeless tribe. All they fear is the fear of the Lord. All they hear is the lion of Judah. My generation is going to help usher in the CHANGE the world needs. "It ain't going to stop with Obama, to save the world we must start at the Bottom"
Isnt it clear to anyone who still denies it? He went to Rev Wrights church for 20 years who taught black liberation theology which is rooted in marxism. He had Van Jones advising him who was a self-avowed communist. Barack Obama said himself that the Constitution is flawed bc it doesnt address the redistribution of wealth. Joe Biden said himself that the health care bill was about redistribution of wealth. Obama said he went & sought out the "marxist professors" in his college days. Now this...
This is propaganda of the worst kind. Equating social justice = Marxism is absolutely moronic. Jesus told his disciples to give everything they had to the poor. By Glenn Beck's lazy interpretation skills, this should mean he was a Marxist.
Further, what evidence does he have that this guy is a Marxist? And what context was this comment in? This guy and his followers share a collective insanity. Good thing they're a marginalized group.
@dionusos2 @dionusos2 The government isn't poor, why give them the money? If you want tax credits for donations to the poor, that would be a good idea. I've never heard Washington D.C. ask for that.
The evidence that he is a marxist seems to be him saying that he is a marxist. It's at 4:00 in the video.
@BigCommy Still, equating social justice with Marxism is a bit strong for nothing... I mean, the temperance movement was absolutely not marxist but Methodist (yeah, religious) and they were looking for a greater social justice by opposing comsumption of alcohol. Still wrong, but in their case it was anti-satanism and maternal-feminism.
@FairMindedWatcher I know where you want to go and that beside the point! The temperance movement was not marxist at all: they were politically conservator and were studying society with a structural-functional p.o.v. They were looking to bring salvation of humankind on earth as well to have a better standard of living to women since "drunk men waste all their money and are violent" and "women have an homework to clean society". Idiotic, yes, but still not Marxist and still some social justice.
@BigCommy OUT OF CONTEXT QUOTING. Typical conservatives.
"We were sharing our conversion stories from secular radicalism and Marxism to Jesus Christ and his gospel of love and justice. Glenn Beck just left that part out, as he often leaves stuff out or just makes up stuff and puts it in."
dionusos2 - Talk about "propaganda of the worse kind"! Jesus NEVER told his disciples that! He was speaking to one guy, a rich ruler & said it to expose his heart- his real god was his money. YOU squawk about "lazy interpretation"! WOW! Jesus was NOT teaching a money-for-heaven theology, but cut to the heart of the ONE guy's problem. He really didn't want "Jesus as LORD" (Rom 10:9-10 NASB). Paul in the Bible didn't say money was the root of evil, but "the LOVE of money"-the ruler's god & love=$
If you only watch short pieces on his opinion you might get the idea that he is downing charity. No, he isn't at all. He is referring to forced charity through entitlement programs from the government that can't run shit anyways. Those entitlements are financed through more taxation of everyone forcing the individual to no longer being willing participants in charity but being victims of theft. Money is inflated, currency values dive ect. Look at Greece....
@dionusos2 Yes Jesus did tell his disciples to give to the poor. BUT HE DIDNT SAY THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD TAKE FROM YOU TO GIVE TO THE POOR. Giving has to come from the heart. When the government taxes me and then in a very inefficient way gives to the poor, it does not exactly make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. It has to come from ME. So your so called logic about Jesus being a Marxist is nothing but laughable. You would get torn to shreds if you ever debated Beck with that line.
@dionusos2 - What evidence that Jim Wallis is a Marxist? He says it in his own words! You can hear him say it right here on this video. Just in case you didn't watch it, he says it at 4:11 on the video. He says "You're a Marxist, like me right?" And by the way, the phrase "Social Justice" is used by every Marxist ro refer to their specific idea of Government. It appears in the Preamble to the Communist Manifesto.
Glenn Becks Imbecilic, Fallacious and Pointless Sunday School. Didnt Marshall Efron do this same shtick back in the 1970s? The only difference is that Beck actually believes his own nonsense.
Lu 20:47 - the mighty devour poor widows' homes. Two verses later, Lu 21:2 - a widow throws (ballo, not didomi) in two coppers. Jesus says -- look! Here comes a widow now! What good would two pennies do after her foreclosure? Nothing! She throws in the pennies, and leaves with disgust! Take it all, you greedy pigs! Becks interpretation is what Marx called the peoples opiate. Beck promotes Marxist analysis.
this guys is a dick. He seriously cant believe that its not the governments role to look after the poor? well id agree its not exclusively their role, i wonder how many poor people Glen Has feed today, none, i think.
@kingdomtheology It appears Glenn Beck gives ~20% of his money to charity. From estimations of his salary last year that would be about $6.4 million more than you give each year.
@BigCommy but he would shoot a Iraqi if he could, wanker. love is, either you do or you dont, anybody can sign a check, but its a lot more sinister to support the system that produces poverty,i have big penis. Grace and peace
@BigCommy WOOOOW, giving money to charity. When you have millions, you can do that, and doing the opposite (giving nothing to charity) would take away from any credibility he may have, though Beck has none. This guy is nuts, how can you not see that?
@BigCommy Since Beck can give 20% to charity and still have $40 million per year left over for himself, it hardly seems like much of a sacrifice on his part. A person making $13k/year who donates $500 is making a bigger sacrifice than that.
Besides, Beck gets an enormous tax deduction in exchange for his "charitable" giving.
@frellthat You have highlighted liberalism's main cognitive flaw: Discounting the positive. His donation is sizable and real no matter how you want to look at it. A good act equals a good act, period. How much does Michael Moore give away?
When it comes to your comment about Lenin you are technically right. Although the only difference is in language, 'vanguard' or 'authority', either way it is basically the same thing. I just feel Marx is very misunderstood.
@Elephant228 "A good act equals a good act, period."
Yes, and you judge how good the act is, in this case how charitable, by taking into account a number of factors, such as how much money a person can afford to give versus how much they actually do give. A donation of 20% is a far greater sacrifice for someone living below the poverty line than a multimillionaire whose income is 95% disposable. You have highlighted one of the main cognitive flaws of all propagandists, oversimplification.
@Elephant228 Eh? This is not just a semantic issue. The phrase "Vanguard party" refers to a specific concept within Communist theory. You improperly attributed the concept to Marx when, in fact, it was Lenin who proposed it. Marx did not believe in a vanguard in any form; he was a determinist and thought that the proletariat, following its own instincts, would inevitably overthrow the bourgeoisie without the need of a vanguard. It is a key difference between Leninism and classical Marxism.
@BigCommy and he is capable of giving a higher percentage of his income because he has disposable money. The working class family who go from paycheck to paycheck but still manage to donate 10% to charity means more than a millionaire who could donate 90% and still manage to live a comfortable life.
@kingdomtheology - It has never been the Government's role to take care of the "poor". Our Constitution clearly states what the Government's responsibilities are. Looking after the poor is not one of them. But in this day and age, so many people want to be looked after by someone, at someone else's expense. What most people don't seem to realize though, is that every Marxist dictatorship that has existed, came to power when the populace begged for their needs to be met by the Government.
"Communism is a good word, a Christian word originally, but to expect to achieve a state of society in which all is held in common, where the state will "wither away" through state socialism, maintained through a dictatorship of the proletariat, this is impossible for a reasonable person to believe."
Clearly, she fully rejected communism but was attracted to it in her youth because of idealism. Having become Catholic, she taught the *communal* aspect of Christianity.
"Here is my attitude towards Communism now, after these many years. First of all, I consider it a heresy, a false doctrine but, as St. Augustine says, there is no false doctrine that does not contain certain elements of truth. I believe it is the failure of Christians which has brought about this heresy and that we will have to give an account for it."
Beck would turn this into: "She wants to kill
all Christians!" :-/
If Beck ever made a distinction, his head would explode.
If a State decides that it wants to be a Communist, Socialist, Marxist, etc. that's great! Let them do it, but D.C. has no right to force us to "Give." D.C. is trying to take from one to give to another.
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." Tenth Amendment
I don't think Beck understands what Wallis meant with the "American Bible" comment. They took out all of the Poor people and called it the American Version of the Bible.
Objectivism fails to address the rich stealing from the rest of us. Those who propagate Rand dont understand economics and they really don't understand sin.
@TwiztedAnimator - Your talking about innovation, I'm talking about regulation. Further look at some of our biggest innovators, and you see some philanthropists, Bill Gates is a prime example.
this guy Wallis has his tentacles all over the place, not just domestic side with Obama, but also in the whole interfaith movement that's behind pressure on Israel, & according to the Bible, it's the false one world religion that's tied with the Antichrist who makes the the coming fake peace Israel deal that will bring the wrath of God upon the world
and dorothy day was an active socialist..which is close enough to a marxist to me. either way obama is making us go in the socialist/marxist direction. since hes been in office now government runs auto industry, banks, student loans and now whoopee healthcare. fuk our lives
Well, I had not ever heard of Day until I saw this video. I don't have anything against her because I don't know anything about her. I am concerned about this Wallis person though.
I remember when Beck was against the Tea Party. Now he uses it to make his money. He's just like every other person on TV, an actor, but he brings up good points.
As a libertarian, I abhor socialism. More so than the majority of republicans out there do, judging by their past actions. Every republican president since Theodore Roosevelt has advanced the leviathan State and has helped paved the way for the advancement of despotism and collectivism. In Glenn Beck's deluded mind, there are only spooky little pacts between the left wing and god, not the right wing and god. The spookiest thing is religion itself, which remains the ultimate superstition.
@MrDepraved1013 I have no idea who that person is. I can assure you the thoughts and words are my own. Oh, I get it. It is your feeble attempt at an April Fools' Day prank. You almost had me for a moment.
@protectedparody You have no idea who Jim Wallis is? Oh, he is the guy that Beck is talking about in the video. And those are the words that Jim Wallis used to reply to him, almost exactly. You can hear for yourself by clicking on the seven minute video called "glenn beck attacks social justice Christians" under related videos. Im SURE it is just a coincidence.
Wallis and his ilk worship power. They have nothing to do with Jesus.
Dorothy Day was a marxist? What? Not that I'm aware of. Of course, Beck deals in half-truths all the time, so who knows what he's referring to.
From what little I know, she had nothing to do with politics and didn't ask for money either from the state or the Church. As far as I know, her work with the poor was all voluntary and direct, not bureaucratic at all. That's "marxist"?
Yes, she was a Marxist. If you did some more research you would know that. I didn't even know who she was until just a few minutes ago. I Googled her name and I came across a web page that had this on it...
Dorothy Day - catholic social justice and beyond. Young Marxist journalist in Chicago, she became a beacon to both the poorest of the poor and the Christian community: Five damn minutes of research. That's all it took.
I am not trying to discredit her by saying she was a Marxist, that's just what she was. It's like calling Van Jones a Communist. That's really what he is, he said it, he admitted it. It's just the truth.
She said she wasn't. When asked, "Aren't your ideas about the social order more Communist than Catholic?"
She said, "No. We need always to remember that it is atheistic Communism which we oppose, but as for economic Communism— it is a system which has worked admirably in religious orders for two thousand years."
She's talking about voluntary communities here. It's STUPID to use
"communism," but she goes on to explain it as fully consistent with
I don't see why people have such a hard time understanding that the USA has a Constitution. It says what the Government can and can't do. The USA has no place for any form of Communism, Socialism, Marxism, Fascism. The only kind of ism we need here is CONSTITUTIONALISM.
Actually, it's not that stupid. One of the things that right-wingers like Beck never understand (because they never read Marx) is that Marxism is anti-state, not pro-state. Marx said that all states are organs of class rule, and the goal of Communists should be the "abolition of the state", and the creation of a stateless, classless society, which Marx called communism, where all decisions were made by voluntary organizations.
That is why Marx was considered an anarchist in his day.
Bakunin (a true anarchist) stated that those who spoused rhetoric about an 'elite vanguard' only used these concepts--such as 'social justice' as a mask for power.
Marx responded in character " send all his nightmares about authority to the devil".
In other words, Marx was no anarchist he thought the concept of no government and no authority was useless.
@Elephant228 Nevertheless, Marx had a pessimistic view of the state, regarding it as a necessary evil at best, fundamentally a form of class domination. He thought that when the working class became the dominant class, by virtue of majority, the state itself would wither away.
Actually, the concept of a vanguard party was introduced by Lenin 20 years after Marx's death, and is one of the key differences between Bolshevism and classical Marxism.
"In our parishes and communities we should have credit unions, maternity guilds, and insurance benefit societies which would reach God's poorest. If we are trying to see Christ in our neighbor, we must see to his dignity, his worth, his position as a son of God. And to do this, it is not enough just to help out in an emergency. It is necessary to build a society where people are able by their work to sustain themselves..."
Beck needs to realize that being a liberal or conservative has nothing to do with being a Christian or not. At 1:40, Glenn missed the point. ahaha and He's not even a Christian. He honestly has no knowledge of Christianity and social justice.
I don't think we could say Jesus was a republican or democrat, but I assure you that He was not a liberal.I would even go so far to say that I don't see how one can be a christian and a liberal.
The Pharisees were conservative, bro. Jesus WAS liberal for his time, as in radical. And yes, you can. Look at Wallis. He's a devout Christian. Look at Don Miller. Obama. Etc.
The point that he is trying to make by bringing up all of the Communism, Socialism, Marxism ties is that the Government doesn't need to be going down that road. It's not the Governments job in the USA to take from the rich and give to the poor. If someone wants to be a Communist, Socialist, Marxist etc. that's fine, but keep it out of the American Government.
If you like Communism, Socialism, Marxism then move to a country that already has one of those in place. It's really simple.
Glenn--I think you have missed this one. you are shifting the focus ---the church and Christians ARE to care about the poor and those suffering injustice. Jesus Himself says He will judge our beliefs on exactly this--how we treat the less than. Christian beliefs will influence our government. Just sayI am sorry as you would like others to do and stop the legerdemain
Dude.. you're being really fuckin dense right now.. Ever hear of this.. "thou shall not steal?".. where does it say in the Bible that individuals cannot steal, but its ok for GOVERNMENTS to steal? Taking from the wealthy and giving to the poor is absolutely stealing. And you're missing the point - the gospel preaches charity, not redistribution of wealth. You miss another point - giving handouts to the poor locks them in poverty. Ask you
@therandman1 Jesus said"give on to Ceasar what is Ceasars" he did'nt say give everything to ceasar and wait for it to come back in benevolance. Anybody who has an issue with us not giving away or having it taken from us. Please work two jobs and give yours instead of forcing me to give mine. Social Justice=give what you want or Social Justice=take from anybody. ??? With you brother!!!
Ask yourself this - how many TRILLIONS of dollars have we blown in the name of wealth redistribution since the great society? Did you know the government claims there are relatively more poor than there were in the 60s? Isn't wealth redistribution supposed to solve poverty? but now we have even more? Doesnt make sense. IT NEVER WORKS. No, instead, we must build a market that facilitates the climbing of the economic ladder.. low taxes for all, no regulation, no corporate lobbying,
and ask yourself how good it is spending a trillion dollars on a war with no purpose with phantom missions and phantom objectives. does that work ok for the economy? how bout tax cuts for the wealthiest 1% of americans during the bush years. did that make the economy surge? no. this mess was around long before barack obama came into office but conservatives such as yourself refuse to admit it.
You are completely missing the point here. One thing you need to realize is, Obama has been president for over a year now. Bush doesn't have shit to do with anything anymore. Get over Bush!
Now, the People in the White House are who we need to focus on. They are Communists. Please understand, it's time to grow up. Obama Mania is over!
Bush ruined the country for the past 8 years and will go down as one of the worst 3 or 4 presidents in the history of the United States. The reason the economy is so screwed up is because of his deregulations, tax cuts, and pointless wars. So although Obama has been in office for a year, it takes a lot longer than that to clean up the mess he walked into. And there is a difference between communism and progressive taxation, which has been around since teddy roosevelt. Go back to your tea party.
Obama came into office with a 1.3 Trillion Dollar Deficit, he doubled it so far. The Dems in Congress are the ones who approved the money that Bush spent. Obama was part of Congress at the time Bush was President. It's Obama and the rest of the Liberal Congress' fault that Obama came into the mess he did. The Dems have been in control of congress since Nov. 2006. That's a long damn time. Go back to your Spongebob.
limited government, free trade, no subsidies for inefficient business, no credits for agriculture.. NOTHING that INHIBITS the free market. We havent had a free market since the early 1900s. And yet, we are criticizing the free market for our economic troubles of present, no i beg to differ, the market did not do this, the meddling hands of government that DESTROY everything it touches is the problem. Pull government back, let people do as they will, let free enterprise run things once again.
You Obama sheeple that suffer from the ostrage syndrome better put your crack pipes down. Comrade Obama has duped you sheeple, and he has coned you with his bottles of venomous snake oil. Some of you probably didn't even know better because you are brained locked on the concepts of Low Cost & FREE without realizing the individuals of the past that promoted this Marxist crap. This in order to promote their Marxist agenda. "The goal of socialism is communism." Vladimir Lenin. WAKE UP YOU DUMMIES!
Ok, I in no way endorse or agree with any so-called commy Rev., BUT, Beck totally misinterpreted dude's "American Bible" remark. He wasn't implying that the Bible was published in America, he was saying that a Bible minus all the poor references is what an "American Bible' would look like. Again, I do not agree with this, but Beck dropped the ball on this one.
Pathetic.

the problem with Becks argument is the lack of understanding Jewish culture in the bible.

One can talk about how the government should not be taking the place of Christians. But IF that is the case, if we are to entrust taking care of the poor to the followers of Christ (as the Bible clearly does state) then the huge masses of Christians in the USA should be taking care of the poor. Is that happening? Not enough.

That implies collective responsibility.
smilingheathen 1 year ago

@FairMindedWatcher I know where you want to go and that beside the point! If you only watch short pieces on his opinion you might get the idea that he is downing charity. No, he isn't at all. Money is inflated, currency values dive ect. Look at Greece....
mysicta 1 year ago
@dionusos2 Yes Jesus did tell his disciples to give to the poor. BUT HE DIDNT SAY THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD TAKE FROM YOU TO GIVE TO THE POOR. Giving has to come from the heart. When the government taxes me and then in a very inefficient way gives to the poor, it does not exactly make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. It has to come from ME. So your so called logic about Jesus being a Marxist is nothing but laughable. You would get torn to shreds if you ever debated Beck with that line.

@BigCommy WOOOOW, giving money to charity. When you have millions, you can do that, and doing the opposite (giving nothing to charity) would take away from any credibility he may have, though Beck has none. This guy is nuts, how can you not see that?
koalalauncher 1 year ago
@BigCommy Since Beck can give 20% to charity and still have $40 million per year left over for himself, it hardly seems like much of a sacrifice on his part. A person making $13k/year who donates $500 is making a bigger sacrifice than that.
Besides, Beck gets an enormous tax deduction in exchange for his "charitable" giving.
frellthat 1 year ago
@frellthat You have highlighted liberalism's main cognitive flaw: Discounting the positive. His donation is sizable and real no matter how you want to look at it. A good act equals a good act, period. How much does Michael Moore give away?
When it comes to your comment about Lenin you are technically right. Although the only difference is in language, 'vanguard' or 'authority', either way it is basically the same thing. I just feel Marx is very misunderstood.
Elephant228 1 year ago
@Elephant228 "A good act equals a good act, period."
Yes, and you judge how good the act is, in this case how charitable, by taking into account a number of factors, such as how much money a person can afford to give versus how much they actually do give. A donation of 20% is a far greater sacrifice for someone living below the poverty line than a multimillionaire whose income is 95% disposable. You have highlighted one of the main cognitive flaws of all propagandists, oversimplification.
frellthat 1 year ago
@Elephant228 Eh? This is not just a semantic issue. The phrase "Vanguard party" refers to a specific concept within Communist theory. You improperly attributed the concept to Marx when, in fact, it was Lenin who proposed it. Marx did not believe in a vanguard in any form; he was a determinist and thought that the proletariat, following its own instincts, would inevitably overthrow the bourgeoisie without the need of a vanguard. It is a key difference between Leninism and classical Marxism.
frellthat 1 year ago
Jesus is fake
builderfun 1 year ago
@BigCommy and he is capable of giving a higher percentage of his income because he has disposable money.

Dorothy Day"
"Communism is a good word, a Christian word originally, but to expect to achieve a state of society in which all is held in common, where the state will "wither away" through state socialism, maintained through a dictatorship of the proletariat, this is impossible for a reasonable person to believe."

At 3:40 Beck introduces the clip by referring to her as a Marxist.
Then Wallis recounts the story of meeting her. She references

I'll let Beck on slide this now since this wasn't about Day but

Day morphed from a young marxist to a Catholic distributist. It's like a

criticize the bankers, call for land reform and liberty, but do it with
too much communist terminology for my taste. That leads to a lot of
confusion.

Dorothy Day lived her life helping the poor. As far as I know she did
not take money either from the Church or the state. As far as I know,
she was anti-state.
When she was young she was caught up in the socialist trend which
swept the western world, and so she was surely influenced by it. But
what does it mean to call her a "marxist" if she is anti-state???
Does it mean anything at all? Tell me.
MillionthUsername 1 year ago
I am not trying to discredit her by saying she was a Marxist, that's just what she was. It's like calling Van Jones a Communist. That's really what he is, he said it, he admitted it. It's just the truth.

@TwiztedAnimator
"communism," but she goes on to explain it as fully consistent with
liberty..

I don't see why people have such a hard time understanding that the USA has a Constitution. It says what the Government can and can't do. The USA has no place for any form of Communism, Socialism, Marxism, Fascism. The only kind of ism we need here is CONSTITUTIONALISM.
TwiztedAnimator 1 year ago
Actually, it's not that stupid. One of the things that right-wingers like Beck never understand (because they never read Marx) is that Marxism is anti-state, not pro-state. Marx said that all states are organs of class rule, and the goal of Communists should be the "abolition of the state", and the creation of a stateless, classless society, which Marx called communism, where all decisions were made by voluntary organizations.
That is why Marx was considered an anarchist in his day.
frellthat 1 year ago
@frellthat Spoken like a true minion.
You know very little about Karl Marx.
Elephant228 1 year ago
@Elephant228 Nevertheless, Marx had a pessimistic view of the state, regarding it as a necessary evil at best, fundamentally a form of class domination. He thought that when the working class became the dominant class, by virtue of majority, the state itself would wither away.
frellthat 1 year ago
@frellthat
Nevertheless he was an elite who supported a communist vanguard. In other words a government......excuse me, world government. lol
Elephant228 1 year ago
@Elephant228
Actually, the concept of a vanguard party was introduced by Lenin 20 years after Marx's death, and is one of the key differences between Bolshevism and classical Marxism.

Day continues:
"In our parishes and communities we should have credit unions, maternity guilds, and insurance benefit societies which would reach God's poorest. If we are trying to see Christ in our neighbor, we must see to his dignity, his worth, his position as a son of God. And to do this, it is not enough just to help out in an emergency. It is necessary to build a society where people are able by their work to sustain themselves..."

@TwiztedAnimator
Concluding the quote:
"but also by mutual aid, to bear one another's burdens, when by sickness or accident men are unable to work."
All this is is Catholic social teaching. Everyone wants strong communities,
mutual aid, credit unions, etc.
She rejected communism when she became Catholic. She is NOT
talking about state control of our lives, but about building a Christian
society. Don't blur the distinction like Beck does.

Beck needs to realize that being a liberal or conservative has nothing to do with being a Christian or not. At 1:40, Glenn missed the point. ahaha and He's not even a Christian. He honestly has no knowledge of Christianity and social justice.

I don't think we could say Jesus was a republican or democrat, but I assure you that He was not a liberal.I would even go so far to say that I don't see how one can be a christian and a liberal.
dlp1953 1 year ago
The Pharisees were conservative, bro. Jesus WAS liberal for his time, as in radical. And yes, you can. Look at Wallis. He's a devout Christian. Look at Don Miller. Obama. Etc.

@theassassin43
No. Wallis is not a Christian. He's a baby killer. Can't be a Christian
and kill babies. Sorry.

Wow, so inquisitive. You should be proud of yourself.

No, instead, we must build a market that facilitates the climbing of the economic ladder.. low taxes for all, no regulation, no corporate lobbying,
therandman1 1 year ago
and ask yourself how good it is spending a trillion dollars on a war with no purpose with phantom missions and phantom objectives. does that work ok for the economy? how bout tax cuts for the wealthiest 1% of americans during the bush years. did that make the economy surge? no. this mess was around long before barack obama came into office but conservatives such as yourself refuse to admit it.
nickfromCO 1 year ago
You are completely missing the point here. One thing you need to realize is, Obama has been president for over a year now. Bush doesn't have shit to do with anything anymore. Get over Bush!
Now, the People in the White House are who we need to focus on. They are Communists. Please understand, it's time to grow up. Obama Mania is over!
TwiztedAnimator 1 year ago
Bush ruined the country for the past 8 years and will go down as one of the worst 3 or 4 presidents in the history of the United States. The reason the economy is so screwed up is because of his deregulations, tax cuts, and pointless wars. So although Obama has been in office for a year, it takes a lot longer than that to clean up the mess he walked into. And there is a difference between communism and progressive taxation, which has been around since teddy roosevelt. Go back to your tea party.
nickfromCO 1 year ago
