After 5 years my Windows 7 PC is chugging along nicely. MacBook? had it 2 years, there's a nice manufacturer's defect that Apple are charging me £300 to repair... I'd still rather use a PC. Heck, even the Windows Phone OS is smoother than iOS (but only just, and by the way, before you call blind fanboy, I have a HTC TITAN Windows Phone, and an iPod Touch 4th Gen).
Macs Are not, in any way, are ment to play games. Not all people that own computers are gamers. Macs are made for Making And Editing Movies, Music Ect. Although it's true that Gates did do work for Apple, he was never employed by them. And yes he did learn how to program the GUI that Apple bought from Xerox, but he tweaked and improved it for the upcoming Windows 1.0. After a decade long lawsuit, the courts found in favor of Microsoft, because Gates didn't steal it

@eonvee375 pricy but with good quality, and a long lasting design. Take my 2003 PowerBook G4, it's about to be 9 years old but some of my windows friends still think that it is a new laptop as the design is timeless.

I own a Macbook Air and I also have a custom desktop (gaming quality) PC. I usually use my PC, but that is mostly because I develop on it. I do have bootcamp on my laptop and of the two, I prefer Mac OS X. Now, I have more applications on my Windows partition, however it simply is not a great laptop operating system. Even with a wonderful trackpad that the Macbooks have, Mac OS X is vastly superior with it's user interaction. Perhaps not as utilitarian, but more pleasurable to use.
I'll acknowledge that, and a very good point you make. My problem with Macbooks are the price. For the hardware inside, I cannot in good conscience pay $2499 for a 17" Macbook Pro when I can buy a superior ASUS G or U-Series laptop for around $1800 dollars. It doesn't make any sense to me. I don't use trackpad functionality as I'm a mouse user, through n' through, but I can see your point. Apple's two major roadblocks are the prices and the B.S. claims it makes.
It's interesting to see war over the Mac side and the Windows side, when I am right in the middle: I both run Windows 7 and Lion on my iMac, and I also run Windows 7 and OSx86 Lion on my ASUS PC. Plus, I also use Linux(Fedora) on my computers, so I am netural.

ME was released 7 months later and was pretty much the same thing slightly updated and targeted at the consumer space. Also, it sucked balls. Microsoft got their shit back together with xp, lost it with vista, got it back with 7, and will probably drop the ball again with 8.
@PookySharif I have 8 Installed on a separate partition. So far, I absolutely enjoy it, the customization is amazing, the new Start is beautiful, effective, and great for multi-tasking. The file system of 8 is similar to 7, however it's a bit more optimized, I also find that my computer uses less resources then it did on 7, there are still, a few bug; but they are being worked out. I endorse 8 completely. 7 was Wonderful, 8 will be god-like.

I've tended to stray towards open source lately (i.e. Ubuntu for desktop applications and Android for everything else), but Windows is perfect for gaming/media consumption. I'm nervous about metro and how frequently it bumps you out of classic mode, but hopefully that'll be worked out before the R.C.'s.

A system restore made things work like a charm again, I alredy tried twice(not in the same day or week, the first time was an automatic update, that I disabled for obvious reasons, the second was last week, same result)

HAHA, dude, i go on facebook like 3 times a month. I even ignore the email notifications I get. I use my computer to run tests, render sound and video, record with my band, edit pictures, run benchmarks on overclocks, voltage, ect. Hell, even record video game gameplay. Not a bunch of crazy stuff but I still run very well, feels secure since things became updated, things usually are more secure when updated, fyi. I also don't get any slow downs or hangs. YOUR problem.

Relooking at things i checked out the Imac, which does offer better video cards (still they are behind though) The best i5 they offer is is a few models behind , along with the i7 as well. The graphics cards they offer are more impressive than the Mac pro, with a 1gb 6970 being the best (thats just above mid range) they dont offer the 2 gb versions and they dont offer the 6990. not to mention the pathetic 1333 mhz ram they still offer =/ The imac is certainly better as a pc but still overpriced
lol so im looking at a 5200 dollar mac pro(desktop), the proccesor is impressive (sort of) 2 6 core proccesors. I really dont see the point in having that though when, the graphics cards they offer are 1 generation behind (over a year and a half old) and on the low end of the spectrum, the best card they offer is the 5870, which is still only a mid range card. Not to mention they are only using 1gb sticks for the ram and its only 6 gb of ram. Absolutely criminal what they are charging for this.

Also windows 8 is taking a completely different approach its actually something really creative, wich is something mac hasnt done in a long time. How long have you guys been running mac os X? @metalkez thats kind of the consensus these days, Macs are for designers and artists (sort of pc does it just as well, i mean adobe was made for the PC first and MAC and adobe have a terrible relationship) or people who dont know how to use computers very well and want something simple, there is nothing wrong with that, my mom and my sisters use macs because its easy, meanwhile my computer is 3x as good for half the price and my operating system is just as snappy if not snappier.

@BigRooster747 so i was curious so i just looked at the macbook pro specs for their best current model. The best graphics card it comes with is a 6750 (wich is on the very low end of the 6000 series) they dont even offer 1600 mhz ddr3 or 2200 mhz ddr3 (which my laptop from a year ago came with) they only offer 1333 mhz ddr3. At least they are finally offering quad cores in their laptops (they werent last year even though pc's have had them for over 4 years) even the quad core is outdated though

I own a Macbook Air and I also have a custom desktop (gaming quality) PC. I usually use my PC, but that is mostly because I develop on it. I do have bootcamp on my laptop and of the two, I prefer Mac OS X. Now, I have more applications on my Windows partition, however it simply is not a great laptop operating system. Even with a wonderful trackpad that the Macbooks have, Mac OS X is vastly superior with it's user interaction. Perhaps not as utilitarian, but more pleasurable to use.

I'll acknowledge that, and a very good point you make. My problem with Macbooks are the price. For the hardware inside, I cannot in good conscience pay $2499 for a 17" Macbook Pro when I can buy a superior ASUS G or U-Series laptop for around $1800 dollars. It doesn't make any sense to me. I don't use trackpad functionality as I'm a mouse user, through n' through, but I can see your point. Apple's two major roadblocks are the prices and the B.S. claims it makes.

It's interesting to see war over the Mac side and the Windows side, when I am right in the middle: I both run Windows 7 and Lion on my iMac, and I also run Windows 7 and OSx86 Lion on my ASUS PC. Plus, I also use Linux(Fedora) on my computers, so I am netural.

@wilhamlin You got a point and I respect it, but let's be honest, a Mac can run OS X, Windows and Linux natively... a PC can run Windows and Linux, and a OS X hacked. That's pretty much a reason. Plus, Mac designs are the best, battery life in notebooks, material quality in desktops AND full compatibility between them. That's the main reason I love apple. cheers.

ME was released 7 months later and was pretty much the same thing slightly updated and targeted at the consumer space. Also, it sucked balls. Microsoft got their shit back together with xp, lost it with vista, got it back with 7, and will probably drop the ball again with 8.

@PookySharif I have 8 Installed on a separate partition. So far, I absolutely enjoy it, the customization is amazing, the new Start is beautiful, effective, and great for multi-tasking. The file system of 8 is similar to 7, however it's a bit more optimized, I also find that my computer uses less resources then it did on 7, there are still, a few bug; but they are being worked out. I endorse 8 completely. 7 was Wonderful, 8 will be god-like.

@kite781 You're making me feel optimistic. I'm not a Windows hater by any means. I love 7. I've tended to stray towards open source lately (i.e. Ubuntu for desktop applications and Android for everything else), but Windows is perfect for gaming/media consumption. I'm nervous about metro and how frequently it bumps you out of classic mode, but hopefully that'll be worked out before the R.C.'s.

my overall performance drop to like 40% of what it was, everything got slowed down, from a simple explorer navigation to program initialization, games have no sense lags...
A system restore made things work like a charm again, I alredy tried twice(not in the same day or week, the first time was an automatic update, that I disabled for obvious reasons, the second was last week, same result)

HAHA, dude, i go on facebook like 3 times a month. I even ignore the email notifications I get. I use my computer to run tests, render sound and video, record with my band, edit pictures, run benchmarks on overclocks, voltage, ect. Hell, even record video game gameplay. Not a bunch of crazy stuff but I still run very well, feels secure since things became updated, things usually are more secure when updated, fyi. I also don't get any slow downs or hangs. YOUR problem.

Relooking at things i checked out the Imac, which does offer better video cards (still they are behind though) The best i5 they offer is is a few models behind , along with the i7 as well. The graphics cards they offer are more impressive than the Mac pro, with a 1gb 6970 being the best (thats just above mid range) they dont offer the 2 gb versions and they dont offer the 6990. not to mention the pathetic 1333 mhz ram they still offer =/ The imac is certainly better as a pc but still overpriced

lol so im looking at a 5200 dollar mac pro(desktop), the proccesor is impressive (sort of) 2 6 core proccesors. I really dont see the point in having that though when, the graphics cards they offer are 1 generation behind (over a year and a half old) and on the low end of the spectrum, the best card they offer is the 5870, which is still only a mid range card. Not to mention they are only using 1gb sticks for the ram and its only 6 gb of ram. Absolutely criminal what they are charging for this.

lol well windows 7 is awesome, all the reviews say so and i think most people agree.
Also windows 8 is taking a completely different approach its actually something really creative, wich is something mac hasnt done in a long time. How long have you guys been running mac os X? I mean i know different versions of it come out wich are essentially the same thing, but whens mac gonna change OS X is old and outdated now just piling updates on top isnt going to change that.

@metalkez thats kind of the consensus these days, Macs are for designers and artists (sort of pc does it just as well, i mean adobe was made for the PC first and MAC and adobe have a terrible relationship) or people who dont know how to use computers very well and want something simple, there is nothing wrong with that, my mom and my sisters use macs because its easy, meanwhile my computer is 3x as good for half the price and my operating system is just as snappy if not snappier.

@BigRooster747 so i was curious so i just looked at the macbook pro specs for their best current model. The best graphics card it comes with is a 6750 (wich is on the very low end of the 6000 series) they dont even offer 1600 mhz ddr3 or 2200 mhz ddr3 (which my laptop from a year ago came with) they only offer 1333 mhz ddr3. At least they are finally offering quad cores in their laptops (they werent last year even though pc's have had them for over 4 years) even the quad core is outdated though
