  • i bought a galaxy gtx 580 from pc case gear

  • @transformersfan18 Very nice!

  • I'm using the 470 atm, pretty sure ill follow your lead and try and track down a pair of these too. still a good choice? also, just curious, what's the rest of your setup like?

  • @spriteBoat Oh boy, it has changed so much since making this video! The temps on these cards in my case were rather bad (Lian Li PC-A77, full tower). I'm ro believe they are much better in a mid tower case with better airflow. I sold these two to a friend and picked up a pair of EVGA stock GTX 580's which actually run cooler. I am currently running a Rampage II Black Edition and an i7 960 @ 4.0 GHz. I have just bought a 2600K and Asus Maximus IV Extreme Z as I game quite a lot.

  • @3Z3K13L08 dammit i cant keep up with these things. ok i'm really glad you mentioned the heat because i dont even have the back on my case just so the propellors on the fans don't fall off. yea that's a gamer's rig alright. bf3's my vice at the moment and i'd love to be able to run it at it's full potential. thanks for that

  • @spriteBoat I play BF3 too, but I play it on Low. I find with everything on Ultra, it's too detracting. Enemies are actually harder to see, not kidding you :).

  • @3Z3K13L08 haha its cool, im still trying to figure all this stuff out atm, gonna go all out for my next upgrade ;) yeh i get what u mean, in bf3 looking at the sun is more disorienting than looking at the real sun. but i still like it looking nice and pretty

  • @spriteBoat I was going to go X79 with a 3930K but seeing as single->quad performance is still on par with the 2600K, the far higher price can't be justified. I don't need 6 cores and I plan on jumping to Ivy Bridge next year, so it was Z68 for me. I know people are raving on about X79 but unless you use 6 cores every day and not just for a video render here and there, it's definitely not worth the cost. Hope I didn't bore you! xD

  • It's a video card, it comes in a box, it has capacitors and it comes with a cable.

    That never happens.

  • I ordered a mother board and some ram from pc case gear it was posted on thursday how long do you think it will be till i getmy package :S iseeu order from them quiet alot

  • @superjake1324 You should get it Monday. I usually get it next day if I order before 4pm, but sometimes it takes 2-3 business days (rarely). If you don't get it money, email them or give them a call. They are super helpful and read do care about their customers (which is why I always buy there!).

  • nice kb filco?

  • @underlord83 Don't you know it! Filco Majestouch with cherry blue switches. I'm currently hunting down an IBM Model M, really want to get a pre-90's model if I can. Super costly though!

  • @3Z3K13L08 lol niceeeeee I'm getting either a filch or a topre but i need some thoughts on the quality of filco keycaps since I heard they're abs.

  • @underlord83 FILCO* lol damn autocorrect

  • @underlord83 They are great. No problems here! The Topre Realforce is a weird k/b, it uses a hybrid mechanical/membrane system. I just love hearing and feeling the clicks from the cherry blue's. They are loud, but I really dig it! The Topre is near silent and the keys looks awfully "spongy". Good luck with the decision. +1 for Filco from me. Have you looked at the Daz boards?

  • @3Z3K13L08 Das look like dust magnets and seem like a sturdy board just too clean looking and yea supposedly topres get fame for being "the one" to keep.

  • you know what a gtx 590 is ? would have saved u 300$ since 1 gtx 590 = 2 580's

  • @SebasRabet Nice try. The GTX 590 is two downclocked GTX 570's. The 590 was an epic fail, no one is buying them because of their terrible performance (check forums, reviews). The ASUS Mars II on the other hand is two 580's on one card. Too bad that thing costs $1700 where I live, and two 580's is under $1000, so screw that. Please get your facts right. Two GTX 580's will ALWAYS beat one GTX 590.

  • @3Z3K13L08 maybe 590 isn't 2x 580 but it's not an epic fail .. 2x 580 = €860 590 = €630 580=€430 ..

590 > 580 so if u want to pay more then 400 but not more then like 650 the GTX 590 is the best nvidia for you, maybe it doesn't sell so much but that's only bc its alot of money and not the most famous one .. 580 is just more famous bc its the best single GPu card,

  • @SebasRabet This nothing to do with "fame". The people that can afford the 590 (like me) can also afford 2x580's. Since 2x580 give better performance (quite a lot more than 590, up to 50% more with overclocking), it's a no brainer. The only thing you get with a GTX 590 is a cheaper price tag and since I'm not poor, that's not a factor. Yes I had to save up for longer, but I got a better set-up for it. You're basically saying "buy a cheaper card to get less performance", no thanks.

  • @3Z3K13L08 thats not what i'm saying i'm saying buy a cheaper card and save money. GTX 590 is good enough for anything for couple next years ... I have a GTX 580 -_- It runs everything at max

  • @SebasRabet And I game at 2560x1600 on my Dell 30" $2000 monitor. One GTX 580, or 590 doesn't cut it. You have to have two 580's minimum at that res, three if you want to run Crysis 1/2 fully maxed + AA. Like I said, I can afford it so why buy cheap (low performance)?

  • @3Z3K13L08 why don't u got 9563 GTX 580's since u can afford it .. Pro gaming then :) don't forget extra coolers + heavy supply

  • @SebasRabet My point is that to game over 1080p, you need at least 2x580's, one 590 doesn't cut it. This is fact. Go read reviews.

  • @3Z3K13L08 thats not true I have one HD 5970 DUAL GPU card 2gb. It runs everything just fine at 2560x1600

  • @Fawk2099 I'm sure it can at lower settings. Please, go film a benchmark run of Metro 2033 with everything maxed, all the way, and try to get above 60fps (constant). If you can't show me this then my point still stands.

  • @3Z3K13L08 it's a fact that Metro 2033 runs better on single GPU than CFX or SLI. one GTX 580 OC'd is sufficient.

  • @vexen999 Not sure where your getting your "facts" from but when I run the Metro 2033 benchmark on a single 580, I get less fps than SLI with two 580's... The new NVIDIA driver (285.62) increases the SLI performance of Metro 2033 by 13% over the previous driver. I'll be back with some number to prove you wrong...

  • @3Z3K13L08

That's possible, not familiar with new driver.

  • @vexen999 Just ran some tests. Both run were with exact same setting: 1920x1200, V.High quality, DX11 (+DOF),? MSAA 4x, AF 16x, PhysX OFF. Result = average fps.

    -Single GTX 580 (OC=900/1800/2050) = 27.38 fps

    -SLI GTX 580 (OC=900/1800/2050) = 50.62 fps

    -SLI GTX 580 (OC=None) = 42.02 fps

The difference between the single OC and SLI OC is nearly 100% (double the fps)! Even with the recent 13% fps increase to SLI performance, it's clear as day that SLI blows away the single GPU that you claimed.

  • @3Z3K13L08 okay hereby I admit my wrong. :)

  • @vexen999 Yet you claimed "it's a fact that Metro 2033 runs better on single GPU than CFX or SLI. one GTX 580 OC'd is sufficient.". Why claim lies to be true and then question me when I had proof I was right? I just don't get your motives.

  • My gtx 285 could run the alpha at 45 FPS on highest settings. I'm sure that gtx 580 will do much better.

  • @XpeHBHopkE One GTX 580 will never play BF3 at 2560x1600 at max settings. That's the res I play at.

  • @3Z3K13L08 yeah, I noticed. Yet, I hope it's gonna be enough for my 1920x1080

  • it's enough with one gtx 580 for BF3. They have tested different cards in the alpha and the gtx 580 is best! AND, it's still in alpha so the cards will be better in the full game :)

    And btw...the gtx 580 had a Avg. FPS 65-75.

  • @anderz700 Ah, but at what resolution and what GFX options? I highly doubt the alpha has all the visual bells and whistles the final full version will have. I play at 2560x1600 and one GTX 580 isn't enough for 60fps in most new games (Metro, Crysis, Mafia 2, GTA 4, BFBC2 etc).. I need two GTX 580s to get constant 60+fps with all settings on Ultra on most games. Heck, even Crysis doesn't get 60fps at that res! If you want to play over 1080p in BF3, you will NEED more than one GPU.

  • @3Z3K13L08 yes of course if you are using more monitors and higher resolution than 1080p, then you may need 2 of these cards. But i'm talking about one monitor at 1080p and then a GTX 580 will be very very good.

I can hardly think that DICE recorded the trailers in eyefinit? They were using a single GTX 580...

  • @anderz700 2560x1600 is one monitor... I have a Dell 30".

  • @3Z3K13L08 oh i did not know that you had a 30" but okey we say over 1080p then...

  • How does this compare to the Asus GTX 580 DirectCU II?

  • @Typhoon10UK The Asus beats this card's cooling solution hands down. It is however a 3 slot card. The Twin Frozr III is better than this one (TFII) though.

  • Got one of these in my PC (my first one that ive built myself) its been great, temps have been low. However ive just recently sent it back to the supplier after 1 of the fans developed a fault. In the mean time im having to use this cheap Nvidia 210 card and it sucks ass lol.

  • @eprahsL Ah that sucks. I hate when shiny new hardware fails. You save up and wait all that time to get it for it to break, so annoying! Hope your new card lasts longer. Make sure to overclock it some too :).

  • @3Z3K13L08 Yeah i'll be overclocking it when Battlefield 3 comes out.

  • @eprahsL Doubt you'll see much difference when overclocking just one GTX580, maybe 5 fps more than factory O/C. Still, it'll be a great card for BF3, can't wait for that game! Grab a second one if you can, not sure if one 580 will be able to play max at 60+ fps.

  • i don't understand shit from what you all just said in your video, but i bought one i hope it gives awesome graphics for battlefield 3 and skyrim ...

  • @whiteraider It will give you great graphics for those games, as long as you stay at 1080p or under.

  • @3Z3K13L08 i'm a total noob if it comes to all this computertalk but what is 1080p :p thx

  • @whiteraider 1920x1080 screen resolution.

  • @3Z3K13L08 oh that , thanks for the info ^^

  • @3Z3K13L08 what if you go above? I'm gna be running 2x 23" monitors and playing fps games like battlefield which uses one screen and flight simulator games like fsx which uses two screens.. am i going to experience any set backs? I want to be able to play at full graphic/video settings, what do you recommend?

  • You should check out the GTX 580 lighting :)) they look like it could do some serious cooling on them.

  • @BeoYCK I'll pass. Sold these as the temps weren't that great and bought two EVGA reference 580's. Much better temps. Internal exhaust is over rated IMO.

  • Nice cards bro...and great unboxing

  • @WestCoastMods Thanks! I actually just sold these today. Picking up a pair of EVGA GTX 580's with back plates instead. These are the cards I plan on using with my W/C set up.

  • I heard in some reviews that this card MSI one is not better than EVGA OC ver in SLI in terms of temp is that true?

  • @AfterDarknes Well the EVGA one uses the reference cooler so it's not so much a compertition between Twin Frozr and EVGA, but Twin Frozr and ALL other reference cooler 580's. These cards seem to stay super cool when in an open case or test bench. If you put two of these in a small closed space (like a computer case), then they can get very toasty and seem to run even hotter than reference coolers. They even raise CPU temps as they dump all hot air into the case. They also muck up airflow :-/

  • Hey man, I'm from Oz as well. Great vid. Just reading your comments about this card. Is the card internal or extarnal exhaust or both?

Just wondering coz I'm tossing up between this and the ASUS GTX580 DirectCU II.

  • @asarvo09 Internal exhaust, so your computer is going to be much hotter with these in it =). You will need some powerful airflow to remove the hot air these cards make.

Note that Asus card it a 3 slot card (if you didn't know). It's way too impractical IMO. If it was dual slot, I would have grabbed two of those instead.

  • @3Z3K13L08 Not sure about you, but internal is a massive drawback for me. In that case, I'll go the Asus. I already knew about the Asus being a 3-slot card. Initially I'm going to get one but later on down the track, I plan to upgrade to two of these cards.

Your right about the 3-slots being impractical, but if you've got the case and the mobo to support two of them @ 16x speed, why not.

Thanks for the advise mate. Appreciate it.

  • i like your screensaver :3

  • @beyondthelol *Wallpaper :D

  • nice cards

  • Hi mate, im in Aus as-well. thanks for the video. I'm planning on picking this up and was interested in what temps your getting? oh and what case your running it in. Thanks mate!!

  • @S1XD3UC3 The temps very much depend on the ambient temp as well as the air flow. I have a Lian Li full tower case with an i7 920 OC-ed to 4.0GHz on air, 3 intake fans and 2 exhaust. With an ambient temp of 30C+, these cards are probably actually hotter than the stock cooler version. This is because it blows the hot air from the GPU straight into your case. If you have some powerful case fans and/or below 25C ambient, then you're looking at 40-ish idle and 70-ish max.

  • @3Z3K13L08 thanks mate, I was just after some approx temps "real world" temps not open bench tests like most benchmark website show. My 7x Noctua fans and CM 690 II ADV should keep it pretty cool. Thanks mate cant wait to hook one of those up to my 27" asus LED im about to buy.

  • @S1XD3UC3 You welcome. I currently have my side panel off and a fan blowing in my PC and my card drops to 31C idle at night times! Crazy insane :).

Because of the way this card is made, you need powerful exhaust to keep the card cool (as the GPU dumps all the hot air into the case [and CPU heatsink]).

I'm going to buy some more powerful fans that should drop my temps even more. I can then use them on my radiators when I get my water cooling up and running.

  • Nice video. I'm jealous!

  • @KapteinFruit Thanks! I can't wait to get my new PSU and SLI these. Then it's an SSD then water cooling :-).

  • @3Z3K13L08 Sounds nice. :)
