  • this just proves my point even more, supernova was when ddr started to get bad, except for supernova 2

  • No matter how hard I try for the Wii, I can't do the hand markers. How exactly am I supposed to do them?

  • Comment removed

  • @hypersonic9t It does..

  • @TheShinedOn which i realized later lol fail deleting comment NOW!

  • @hypersonic9t LOL nice.. xD

  • @TheShinedOn yup :)

  • the song from streeet fighter 4 is on here oh my god!!!

  • i dont know about this game, but if you ask me "brandon, what is the best ddr you could play on your wii," my anwser would be "ddr Mario Mix for gamecube," i so could believe my eye when this game came out and i had to get it.

the songs in its has cool techno and salsa versions of mario themes, not really for the super advanced players though, but bowsers song is really had and he gotz some moovz!

  • For casual players, I'm sure this game will please, but I was so disappointed by it's weak music selection coupled with the fact that they were low quality covers!

If you guys have other game consoles, skip the Wii DDR games. They're pale in comparison to the other titles out there.

  • I have just gotten "Just Dance" and Im taking it to my friends today. I havent opened it yet and I was wondering if anyone else has it?

  • Thank you ! very much

    The video is great !!

  • @waterspirit2 I believe there are just 2 wii games out right now. "DDR Hotest Party 1 & 2".

  • you have to hold the wii remotes when playing???

  • is there a way where you can get rid of using the wiimotes?

  • wat r the nunchuck and wii remote for?

and do u knoow how many songs are there?

  • i like all the ps2 games for the songs the 360 and wii songs are not my cup of tea

  • how does it compare again ddr with ps2 and do we have to use hands?

  • I like it way more than SuperNova but that's just me. And no Hand markers are optional although I recommend them in Hottest Party 2.

  • The game looks really good now that I've seen an in-depth review of it. Thank you for posting this video.

Just a quick question. Could you explain how you avoid the stars? And, do you think the game is actually worth buying? If I pick it up for Christmas, will I regret it?

    Great video. 5/5

    Thank you!

  • I really like this game. I own it, and it's pretty fun, especially when you get to the more difficult songs. Although I prefer to play without the hand markers.

  • See, that's what a lot of people are saying in these comments, that it's better without the hand markers. For me, that's what separates it from other DDR games as it needs those to have something extra on the wii console. But I can understand that people are used to playing it that way.

  • Yeah, it probably would have been bad if they hadn't incorporated atleast some sort of hand motion thing for the wii.

  • I can see why people had issues with hand markers on this game though. Lets be honest, they were broken. They worked sometimes only when they wanted to, and coupled with the fairly tight timing windows of this game you were in for some major frustration.

Now HP2 on the other hand corrects the issues hands had in HP1 so much to the point where I RARELY play without them. Along with the hand combo scoring system, it really becomes a unique and really fun DDR experience all it's own.

  • Ooh, sounds good. I might get HP2 to try out the new hand markers.

  • Does it have techno/dance songs?

  • Well, what I showed you on the song list is about 95% of the songs on the game.

  • I just got DDR: Hottest Party 2

    It's really good. :)

  • The cover songs don't seem that great ~.~

Innovative as usual per Wii, it's okay

  • ive passed VERTEX ^2

  • Not sure if I passed that yet, as I'm not thru all the "venues", of if that's a song, then I know I've not seen that yet.

  • T.T.... i want a wiii....

  • It's fun to play. :)

  • What ever happened to the Konami originals?

  • omg whens this coming 2 the uk nd where can i gt it? duz ani1 no?

  • Well, when you turn the game on it says something to the effect of "Only to be sold in USA, Canada, and Mexico" So I guess it is not coming to the UK. I'm not sure if you can import it or anything. But it looks like that is the only way to get a copy of it.

  • Actually, you can get it in Europe, its simply under a different name. "Dancing Stage: Hottest Party" is what its called

  • it was th best i can find .thanks a lot.

  • Glad you enjoyed it.

  • hehe try to do a video for DDRHP2 when it comes out =)

  • yea, when I saw that it was comming out I knew it was a must have for me. So you can bet on the fact that a video will be put up when I get my hands on that. :)

  • Also Draven711, can you turn the special arrow mode (like the stars you got to avoid) off, the way you can at mario mix with the 'shrooms' mode?

    Thanks sooo much!

  • Same place as above, under Gimmics. You just turn those off.

  • Gimmicks annoy me. Only thing I turn off,

  • For me, it's a part of the game, so I leave it in. Though I admit, they do become annoying.

  • I always turn off my gimmicks and hand movements. Sure, they're part of Hottest Party, but that's just not how traditional DDR is played. I probably think this because I'm a DDR/ITG nerd. xD Haha.

  • haha, i switch it all of as well. I feel bad for doing so, but i like it traditional.

  • Hi Draven711,

Is there also a possibility to turn off the nunchuck and wii remote so you only use your legs?

  • It would be nice, cuz i dont really like the idea of nunchuck and wii remote...:-|

  • you can turn them off. go to the song list find options. go to hand gimmics or whatevr and then trn off

  • Bingo! in the Song Selection menu go to the options menu. It is there that you can turn them off, if you'd like.

  • umm the wiimote and nunchuck is killing this game for me :/ i suck at ddr but i want this game.i dont want to have to worry about the wiimote and nunchuck :/

  • See for me, the game is about the wiimote and nunchuck, else why get it for the Wii. Rather get some other version for the other consoles. But hey, to each their own.

  • can u turn off the nunchuck and wii remote controls

  • yes, before you select your song to into the options menu on the song list. Your able to turn it off there.

  • What 10 footer songs are there?

  • There's only one 10 footer, and that's Super Samurai, one of the boss songs in the game.

  • Bingo!

  • This is very helpful, thanks for the video.

I just bough DDR and didn't read the manual, had trouble with the orange arrows, and now I understood.

And the calories setting, great ! This is the way that I will convince my wife to play with me.

  • Glad you enjoyed.

Yea, the calories thing is great. Besides WiiFit this is the only game that will make you feel like you have completed a vigorous workout. Especially on the difficult settings.

  • I personally don't think that I am given a vigorous workout when I play Wii DDR. I own this game and am fairly disappointed with it. Very few songs on this game actually exhaust me and I wish that there were more songs with more than 180 BMP. I am much more impressed with the PS2 versions of DDR, but that's coming from the opinion of someone who wants to become a hardcore DDR player. I think that Hottest Party is okay for those who aren't really into DDR.

    Interesting video, though.

  • hey, just asking, are you playing most these songs on difficult? then it gets quite vigorous with songs like super samurai.

  • I usually play on Difficult (aka Standard) and occasionally Expert. I can pass Super Samurai on Difficult though.

The only song that actually tires me out is tokyoEVOLVED.

I personally prefer to play ITG at the arcade though.

  • yea i can only get a C on tokyo evolved on expert but its hard to unlock it it takes lots of practice!!!

  • I actually severely dislike tokyoEVOLVED. xD I'll probably never beat Hottest Party myself, I'll just get my hardxcore DDR friend to. 8D

    Do you play ITG?

  • yes i play itg im kinda getting the hang of charlene on expert

  • I personally like ITG more than DDR. My performance is generally better when I play ITG.

Can you play Pandemonium on hard or expert? :o

  • expert hard but fun

  • THANKS FOR THE VIDEO! Is very interesting and useful:)

i want to ask you if there is another cd to wii ddr, i really dont looove the songs.

or how to use the card to buy the songs??? i really dont understand...

  • No, I'm afraid that the songs in the game are the only ones at this time. They have not released any other versions yet so this is the only DDR game for the Wii at this time, besides DDR Mario Mix for the Game cube that you can play on your Wii. About using the card to buy songs. They do not have anything on wiiware to buy. The other game systems (PS3 and XBOX360) are known for doing that, but not for the wii, unfortunately.

  • are there any Japaneses songs on there that arent't converted to english -_-"

  • No. This is English only.

  • Can the game be played with the hand-motion off?

  • Yes, when your in the song selection you go into the options menu and turn them off. All the hand motions become regular arrows.

  • very good and through demo. Thank you much! This helped me tons with figuring out weather or not I wanna buy it. And watching you play and the end got me in the mood to watch The Wedding Singer :) Thanks again!

  • LOL! Well, I'm glad you found it helpful. Whatever your decision may be.

  • this was very helpful, thank you for making this! I just wish that they had more fast songs...

  • To each their own. :)

  • Hi, I was wondering if the US version of DDR game would be able to be played in a modified wii as I do not carry a US wii console.

    Thanks for your review.

  • Um... not sure, I would say yes. I don't think it would be any problem. I just think the game is sold over in the Northern Americas so if you have it sent out to you I think it would be just fine. But I'm not 100% sure on that as I've never tested it out.

  • does this game have 2 players

  • It can be a four player game, I've yet to see a mat; however, that is sold by itself though.

  • You can buy the dance mats separately. Here in The Netherlands they would cost 29.95 EUR per dance mat.

  • For the Wii? I know they sell them for the Playstaion and XBox, but I've not seen any in the USA.

  • I can't imagine they don't sell it separately in the USA? Because it's the original dance mat and all... I checked the internet for you and I indeed cannot find it on Amazon but it can be ordered on eBay. :-) I hope that helps.

  • I don't like the songs for the wii ddr...sad....

  • Well, to each his/her own tastes.

  • how the hell do you turn off the hand markers???!!!!

  • You do it when before you select your song. Go into the options menu, in the song selection. It's there for you to turn on and off.

  • zomg,thanks :3

  • Wow they have completely BUTCHERED all of these songs, this game looks SHIIT - MAJORLY SHIT. i'm extremely dissapointed, i was going to buy this game n play it with my mates over the summer but u can forget about that..i;d prefer to play with my old PS2 games with some awesome, and original choons! cheers for the review!

  • Yea, they are not the full songs. Mostly half to 3/4th of the song. Which is sad to see, as it would have been great to hear the full songs instead of sound bites of it. I'm glad you enjoyed the review.

  • Can you turn the hand Motions off? or do you have to leave them on???

  • You can turn them off ^____^ I played with my friend XD It was terribly funny, she was so good we were 4 with me and my other friends on a mat and she was dancing on the other one XD What happened : We lost ! XD Actually, I tumbled over on the arrows so <.<

  • Yep, as KimySan said you can turn off the "Gimmicks" so that your only playing the same game you have always played since they introduced this game. For me though, why do it. It's meant to be played this way. But to each his/her own.

  • lol baha thanks soo much XD

  • I was wondering, do you know if the American and the European versions are different. And if there are even two different versions of the game (besides the Japanese and the non-Japanese version).

    I know, complicated question .. I'm sorry ^^;;

  • Yea, I'm not really sure. I would think so, only because this game is full of songs from artists that are from this area. (I live in the USA). I would think that if this was released in other places then the song list would reflect the area it's in. But that is only my guess.

  • =/ how dissapointing... thanks for the vid anyway :)

  • No Problem :)

  • I actually like the songlist here (Hold Tight and Gypsy Woman and let it out are some of my favorites) but to be honest, I MISS CURUS. :'(

  • Oh, don't get me wrong I like the song list myself. But a lot of DDR players have come to know the franchise because of the J-pop and techno beats. So were a bit disappointed to not have it prodominatly in this game. Agreed on Gypsy Woman. That's one of my top picks in this game.

  • My little sister loves that song as well. La da di, La de du XD

  • Plus the beat just draws you into it. To quote a good friend of mine. "If your not dancing when you hear it, then you are committing a crime against your body."

  • lol, that's a good quote. I'm not much for public dancing though. What other songs do you like on this game?

  • Well, being a child of the late 80's, early 90's. I really enjoy "Blue Monday" from New Order, "You Spin Me" from Dead or Alive, and "Everybody Dance Now" from C+C Music Factory. Other then that era... the only other one the comes to mind is "I don't feel like dancin'" from Scissor Sisters

  • Ew, I could care less for those songs. D:

You know what song really stinks? Heavens and the Earth. Both gameplay-wise and listening-wise.

  • You'll have no argument with me on that one :D

  • soooo do they have like ANY japanese songs???...like my ABSOLUTE FAV hysteria?? and i heard from someone, that you could download songs somehow, put them on this game, and make ur own dance thingy...tru?

  • Unless you have a modded system, or game.... which I'm not sure how to do. Plus is not advised. Then you are stuck with the song list they gave you. It does not appear to have much, only a scant few J-pop songs.

  • sorry im really techno-retarted, wat does modded mean? and y isnt it advised??

  • well modded means that they altered the programing of the system or game, in other words, took the system (or game) and re-programmed it. And it's not advised because if you don't know what your doing you can damage the console beyond repair. And I believe it's kinda on the illegal side.

  • Who sings "Breakdown"?

  • lol great video--umm is it me or has north america deleted or gotten rid of all/ most of the nice japanese ddr songs??

  • There is no Japanese songs in it anyway xD They removed one song which is exclusive to Japan which is 'Pluto' or something but we got 'Rhythm Is A Dancer' to replace it xD

  • Sadly yes they did. I'm not sure why but they must have felt the need to put in more "Western" songs, which seems weird to me cuz DDR is already a hit over here with the Japanese DDR songs included. Or they must have felt we should get an "Americanized" version. I would have been happy with a good mixture of both.

  • gr8t video!

  • Thanks.

  • thanks for the video, i only realised today there was a version of DDR on the Wii. I dont own the Wii unfortunately, but i love DDR.

this vid gave me a good idea of what the game was about bc at first i honestly didnt get how u were suppose to use the wiimote or the nunchuk while watching the game trailer.

I was actually shaking my hands like i was holding maracas, so yea, good think i watched the vid till the end lol

  • Glad you found it helpful. If you love DDR I say it's a must get, just for the extra challenge of the wii-mote. As your not going to experience that on the other systems.

  • lmfao thank you that was a great vid i add to fav gave you a 5star and sub to you thanks again and it does look like lots of fun

  • Thanks for the positive rating and sub, I'm glad you found it enjoyable.

  • i bought it and the songs bore me a bit :S although... its relli fun :)

  • yes it is fun. I do enjoy playing it still. though, I would agree that the songs can get boring after you've played them for a while.

  • it does not have enough original ddr songs

  • Sadly no. I'm not sure why, but they decided to focus more on "Western" music.

  • thx bud. i was going to buy this but was not sure but i am now going to buy this . it looks really good.

  • Sure, no problem. I still enjoy it.

  • hey i already have this game but i cannot find the mat it is the gamecube i presume? can someone give me detail on the map and how to get it i live in singapore

  • Well, I'm not sure about singapore. I live in the USA. But it uses the gamecube inputs so if you want to buy them separate then I'm sure your local game store would have something for you.

  • Wait...is the dance mat wireless? Where is it meant to plug in because Wii Remotes dont need plugging in, they only need to be synced. Is that what you have to do with the dance mat?

  • gamecube inputs

  • Yep, you use the gamecube inputs on the side (or top) of the console. Depending on how you have it set up.

  • I want this!! Gonna save!!

  • i ddnt like thier choice of songs in this one i mean as in diversity of culture and generes

  • True, though I had no problems with it. We all have our own tastes, though I understand your comment.

  • i usually turn off the Gimmicks cuz they arent fun and they are very frustrating...

    anyway, i like this game

  • To each their own. It gets crazier the more difficult the challenge is.

  • long ago i did not play ddr. my last game was ddr5 for the psone. look very nice for the wii, i hope to see some of classic songs like stomp to my beat or in the heat of the night.

  • you can use this to be your very own fitness as well

  • Exactly! Which is why they have a workout mode in the game, so that you can keep track of calories burned and things like that.

  • yea man get brawl its gonna be tite but in my opinion if u like ddr and dancing ten get tis but if u hav the super smash collection like i do ten u should get brawl because there's gonna be like 39 characters so watever is ur personality ten choose watever cya^^

  • Ok how caN i SAY THIS GENTLY.

ure awsome, thx for the vid,i wasnt sure between DDr or smash bros brawls.

but im gonna buy ddr.if i get more money gonna buy both !!XD(got an income of 0$ years)(but still find ways/live litle jobs and parents)

but about the vid the streaming wasnt that good. and u should have done an harder song.

but i rlly liked the end when u showed how u look.

    NICE vid!=)

  • Well thanks, DDR is a great game to play. But I would also tell you to pick up Brawl. I'm looking forward to this Sunday when I will get my hands on Brawl.

  • well actually im the best with the gc controller so i dont tink it sucks

  • Two questions... does the pad work ok on carpet? Does it slip at all on carpet?

  • Answer: yes and kind of

  • LovelyMolly92 is correct. Yes it does work on carpet and it can slip a little but it's not that bad.

  • How do u turn off hands-on mode????

  • Look at the last comment. Same answer.

  • well this might be a stupid question but how do you turn off the hand markers and gimmicks, i know its in the options meenu but i cant seem to find it. pleeassse answer me, im terrible with the hand arrows and gimmicks and its very frustrating to play.

  • Well, it's not in the options mode in the main menu. Rather, the options menu during the song selection.

  • im stuck on the venue challenge where u have to beat breakdown on expert... to fast!!

  • Yea, I tried a few of the expert difficulties. Put me in my place after 5 seconds.

  • you play ok on this but am better on this

  • ok, I will take your work on it.

  • so this game is played with a mat?

  • yes, the camera did not show the floor but I was stepping on the mat while I was playing. It comes with the game; however if you bought DDR: Mario Mix for the gamecube and you got a mat for that, then you can just buy this game without the mat. But you must have it to play.

  • O cool, when i got mine it was a mad rush in there, i grabbed a game that used the mat so dude got me a mat, but i put that game back, forgot the mat lol so i ended up with one. Is one better than the other?

  • Actually, you can use the Gamecube controller or Classic Controller. But don't use the GC controller.;)

  • man i want this game, Havin a wicked hard time finding it tho

  • If you can't find it in any store. I know that Amazon has it to ship online for the same price. If nothing else you can get it from them.

  • O right on, thanks!!

  • Nice review.

By the way, those "moving stars" are mines.

  • I h@t3 the stupid announcer guy

He always gives me D's....even when I dont get boo'd

    I hate him

    GRRRR...

    LOL

    Fun game

  • lol, he's nice to me when I'm on normal mode, but some songs on Hard he just berates me with insults.... Let's not even talk about Difficult. I'm done within 30 seconds of the song. In true DDR fashion it shuts of and then says don't even bother playing any further.

  • surely there is a way to turn him off? there is on most dance games

  • Oh...I hoped so long for that game because i love Dancing Stage but...These songs are so...XD

Man! Where are the cool eurobeat songs like Candy or the really good japanese dance songs!?

I'm so sad because there was absolutely no song in this video which I like :(

I just have Dancing Stage Mario Mix on Nintendo GameCube ande some older versions for Playstation 2. That listens so lame to me... :(

  • yea, it's not your usual DDR list. Which does seem odd to me as I guess they "Westernized" it, but since it came out as other versions in america (PS2). I would have thought it would have stuck to its roots.

  • man your aswome but one question is there any song fron an anime there? anyway your aswome man keep doing it.

  • I don't think so. I think I have one or two more songs to unlock so not 100% sure. But it does not look like there is.

  • Please forgive me if I sound esoteric or like a DDRFreak, but does the game have speed mods (the option to play note charts on 1x 1.5x 2x 3x etc) and what about the harder songs, do you know whether there are still crossovers, gallops, hands or any of the challenging parts from the older games? I really do want to buy and enjoy this game, but I don't want to spend money when I could just go out and get another PS2 version.

  • My goodness, you sure are a DDR freak. But your in good company. Actually, none of that here, or so I can tell. There are some gimmicks to the game (I did list them in the video description) that add some challenge to it. Off the top of my head there are arrows that move around the screen so your not sure were to step until they get to the top, among others, but that does not seem to be what your thinking of.

  • Yeah I still don't have candy by sweetest either. I'm working on it

  • I have beaten all the venues, and I'll try to get video up.

I like your videos, too! I've seen the ones I as interested, because it's great how you pick games up that we like and show us what you can do. Sometimes I want o buy a game, and wonder if it's worh it..

  • Thank you. I'm glad you find it helpful.

  • do they not have the regular ddr songs on this version?

  • Honestly, this is the only DDR game I own so I'm not familiar with the "Regular" songs. But from what I'm reading of other people's comments it is lacking in this game.

  • Lolz thats some "awesome" ddr skils. Anywho, the game looks alright, jsut dont like the feature they added with the nunchuck and wii-mote note, but the game looks like it has a good variety of songs to choose from, need to check this game out 5/5 :D

  • Well, if the wii-mote and nunchuck are not your thing you can just turn that feature off and those markers will become regular arrows.
