Well, Solid Snake WAS based off of Kyle Reece, Snake Pliskin, James Bond, and some other various characters for certain style. in MG2SS in the original MSX2 release, his Codec avatar was actually based off of Rambo. So....yeah :B

Solid Snake's physiognomical resemblance to Mel Gibson in the original manual and during the Zanzibar Breeze sequence I immediately descried, though I could never reconcile it with his Codec avatar.
