Oorlog maken slaat nergens op.. Blijf gewoon op je eigen land en maak geen oorlog.. Mensen maken oorlog om aan de macht te komen. En waarom zou je aan de macht willen komen? Het veroorzaakt alleen maar problemen en doden. Waarom kun je niet tevreden zijn met 1 land? Ik hoop echt dat er geen derde wereld oorlog gaat komen.

In Rotterdam stierven veel meer burgers door Geallieerde bombardementen van 1942 tot 1944 dan op 14 mei 1940. Natuurlijk was 14 mei 1940 weliswaar volkenrechtelijk correct (Rotterdam werd verdedigd en was een militaire vesting en evacuatieplaats), maar menselijk gezien wel een drama voor 800 doden die toen vielen. Bovendien hadden de Duitsers ook alleen de haven kunnen treffen. Het was Duitse arrogantie, maar vergeet ook oorlogsmisdaden van anderen nooit!

The compromising of our neutrality was caused by the Venlo Incident, by the relatively undefended western coasts, and by secret plans of our Royal Family to evacuate to Britain. @AZsaturn Our country was the victim of strategic position in the continuation war of WW 1 between France, England and Germany. We were mostly innocent, but our secret service made huge mistakes. The Netherlands after WW2 had annexation plans too (Bakker Schut Plan), but our humanitarian values prevented it from being enacted. We never commited expulsion genocides like the Polish regimes.

Lwów and Wilno were 2 of 4 most important centers of Polish culture although we`ve had to reconcile with this loss.

Onzin. Japan stond al op het punt om te capituleren, ze wisten dat ze niet konden winnen. Amerika wilde graag haar macht bewijzen, en wilde tevens de bom uitproberen, om te zien wat voor effect het zou hebben.

Als de Duitsers hun bombardement niet hadden uitgevoerd, dan waren er meer troepen omgekomen dan 800 personen die de dood door de bommen vonden. Wie Rotterdam bekritiseert, mag en kan ook niet anders dan Hiroshima veroordelen. Dat was zelfs een atoombom!
En even voor de duidelijkheid, dan gaat het om de Amerikaanse kant. Japan wilde maar niet overgeven en de Amerikanen wilden geen extra soldaten meer sturen, dat zou alleen maar voor meer slachtoffers zorgen. De atoombom was dus de oplossing.

@IustitiaPax Kolbe`s Father was German but his mother was Polish. Both parents of Gen. Anders were German. But it`s hard to say that he was not Polish. He choosed Polish identity. Many Poles have German blood, just like many Germans have Polish blood. It`s funny that Friedrich Nietzsche said: "Germany is a great nation, only because its people have so much Polish blood in their veins."

@IustitiaPax I live near Groß Strehlitz. My ancestors were Silesian nobles with Slavic origin. At home they were always using the Silesian language.
I`m in favor of the Polish-German reconciliation. But it`s hard to speak about reconciliation when people have territorial claims. Breslau was unable to recompense the loss of Lwów for us because it was not a Polish city before WWII. Lwów and Wilno were 2 of 4 most important centers of Polish culture although we`ve had to reconcile with this loss.

But I just stated some facts: compromised neutrality due to Venlo Incident, due to royal evacuation plans, due to one-sided military defence. The Dutch people was truly neutral, but some spies in our government were compromising it by pro-British actions. Of course it was an unlawful attack. But is war ever lawful? The Netherlands never violated border like Poland in 1939, nor did Dutch threaten war like Rydz

Śmigły and Beck knew how to speak with Hitler. They knew that the annexation of Danzig wouldn`t satisfy his ambitions. Just like Sudetenland have`nt satisfied his urges in Czechoslovakia. There are witnesses who confirmed that when Hitler heard that France and Great Britain promised to aid Poland in case of German aggression. He was furious. He wanted to attack USSR with Polish help. It would help Germany to achieve world`s hegemony. But Poland would become only an insovereign German vassal.

At least you admit, that Hitler wanted to make a German-Polish anti-communist alliance. Only Polish conspiracy and Polish anti-German hatred prevented it. Hitler was not Polonophobe, unlike many Prussian officers whose castles had been confiscated in Province of Posen and Pleß.

The creation of states-vassals in the east is part of the ideology of the Drang nach Osten. Our alliance with Britain and France was purely defensive. The rationale was the imbalance of forces. No country can be much more powerful than the neighbors. It's too scary. Besides, Reich made no secret desire to conquer new territories.

@AZsaturn The anti-German annexation drive towards the West (Drang nach Westen) of Polish nationalism (Endecja) and the colonels' regime in Warsaw in 1939 caused the war threats against Germany in British newspapers by Polish officials, and Polish border violations, as well as Polish one-sided mobilization against Germany. Until Sept 12, 1939, Poland believed England and France would attack and that Poland could Polonize and annex even "Slavic Barlin and Kopanica". Hitler guaranteed borders!

@IustitiaPax Endecja was not in power at this time. Poland didn`t wanted war because the Versailles and Riga treaty gave Poland more than people could have expected. Only 66% of people in II RP was Polish. So every third Polish citizen was actually not Polish. Further territorial gains would be a suicide. Lenin offered Poland greater territory on the east. He even wanted to give Mińsk to Poland but the Polish delegation refused. Do you think Allies would allow Poland to annex Berlin?

All territories of II Republic was territories of I Republic. The presence of spies is not an excuse. All governments in the world openly say that they are in different countries, even after hundreds of spies for a single country. The Russian military say clearly that they have spies in every country of NATO. Each NATO country has spies in Russia. I'll say more. Spies spying, even allied countries. It is not unusual. No excuse for the disgraceful assault on a neutral country.

@AZsaturn 1. The Venlo Incident was not about presence of spies, but about a (staged) attempt to topple the Hitler regime by assassinating Hitler. This would be like Polish agents caught planning the murder of Putin and Medvedev. 2. Of course the Venlo Incident of 1939 did not strategically cause the war directly, it was our strategic position. Unlike Hungary, Holland would not allow German troops to pass! 3. You do not understand anything from history you do not know.

@AZsaturn Britain did not honour Dutch neutrality either. Nor did Soviets respect Swedish neutrality in 1939, destroying Swedish northern villages near Finnish border lands. Germany did respect Denmark, Belgium, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Slovakia, Hungary and even Italian autonomous foreign policy decisions. Of course I know Germany violated our neutrality. But it was sadly compromised by irresponsible secret agents.

@AZsaturn When was Upper Silesia ever part of the I Republic (Poland-Lithuania)? Never? Not even Auschwitz, Pleß, Rybnik and other mostly Polish-speaking areas of eastern Upper Silesia were in the Ist Rep. They were part of the Holy Roman Empire in the Middle Ages and afterwards. Count of Auschwitz and Zator, a title since 1512 under the Habsburgs.

haha deze opnames zijn na de echte inval gemaakt. Want die duitse para hadden het niet zo makkelijk. Het is mislukt om den haagen en de vliegvelden rond den haag te veroveren. een heleboel doden en gewonden en 1500 naar engeland als krijgsgevangene gebracht. en die vliegtuigen die je ziet zijn een van de weinigen die de oorlog in 1940 in nederland overleeft hebben op de eerste dag zijn er van dat type 330 afgeschoten. Hoezo Zwak leger?

Het bombardement op Hiroshima en Nagasaki was noodzakelijk om de 2e Wereld Oorlog aan die kant van de aarde te beëindigen. Natuurlijk is het aantal burgerslachtoffers te betreuren. Maar als ze de atoomaanval niet hadden gedaan waren er veel meer slachtoffers gevallen.

De VS wilden dat wel. En de atoombom uitproberen. Als je de atoombommen goedpraat, kun je ook elke andere massamoord goedpraten. Het ligt er maar aan van welke kant je kijkt.

@RanoNL Met dezelfde logica kun je Rotterdam op 14 mei 1940 ook verdedigen. Rotterdam was, anders dan Nagasaki en Hiroshima (die geen luchtverdediging hadden), zwaar verdedigd, havenstad, evacuatiestad richting Engeland, en vesting. Als de Duitsers hun bombardement niet hadden uitgevoerd, dan waren er meer troepen omgekomen dan 800 personen die de dood door de bommen vonden. Wie Rotterdam bekritiseert, mag en kan ook niet anders dan Hiroshima veroordelen. Dat was zelfs een atoombom!

En even voor de duidelijkheid, dan gaat het om de Amerikaanse kant. Japan wilde maar niet overgeven en de Amerikanen wilden geen extra soldaten meer sturen, dat zou alleen maar voor meer slachtoffers zorgen. De atoombom was dus de oplossing.
