  • Humans are becoming physically and mentally weaker (stagnating). We wander aimlessly occupied in activities that don't unlock our full potential that is immuned to outside influences. A foundation that cannot be broken no matter the extrinsic forces that be in today's society. For example, wordly pleasure, need to make impressions, responsibilities, peer pressure etc....

  • wow that sums it up amazing intelligent human Self-actualization is the peak of human achievement

  • He forgot all about the great philosophies towards the end, you help some people but what the hell do THEIR lives mean? What's the bigger picture? I reckon I could take him in a fight.

  • @adiostraitorobama True, and alot of these concepts go even further back to ancient cultures. And all these new age religions are really watered down versions of Bhuddism or Hinduism

  • what if we could blend all of these "great philosophies" with "marvelous movies" and the rest of the media? Life would be fuckin awesome

  • There should be a religion to this concept! Perfect guidlines to a happier/healthier world.

  • @timfode there is, virtually every religion has guidelines in some sort of way to actualization

  • Forever alone ;_;

  • very true ;)

  • fantastic summary! thankyou

  • Beautiful speech Dr. Eldon.

  • According to Steven R Covey, Taylor's talking about SELF-TRANSCENDENCE!

  • How dare you, what a vocabulary.

  • Perfect, ive been looking for someone to sumarise it without any jargon. thanks for the vid

  • I agree with elliottfour that simply doing what we love ultimately is how we can best help others.

    If I write a poem for example, and it is a true expression of me, I have made a difference, regardless of how many read it, or even if no one does.

    No one can tell another person what will bring them

    this feeling of fulfillment. If surfing the Web does it, or playing video games, who is to say that's not self-actualization?

  • This is an interesting take on self actualization... but i think it falls short. Helping people is fantastic, if that is what you like to do... it has been my experience that self actualization means exactly what it sounds like... realizing you are it... you are the one you've been waiting for... you can do whatever you want... because this is all your creation. you're not ego... if you want to look outside yourself, and help others, more power to you. Namaste!

  • Do we or do we not HELP others when we do something we like that does not hurt the other person? i.e. if I want to spend my life skiing because it gives me my GREATEST thrill and makes me feel fulfilled, then does not all who come in contact with me get a feeling that here is someone who enjoys life and I'd like to enjoy life like that?

    PEACE:}

  • i totally agree with you. self-reliance can only be achieved if you do not cover yourself with a blanket of insecurity, thus not allowing external factors to help us develop and grow as people. you are totally spot on.

  • @azertyuiop3.

    I think Self-reliance is it. U can forgive yourself if you screw up, you can create the consequences and behaviors. You can create your own adventure when you feel like it. You are resassured that you can tested the boundaries of limitations in any social setting and the result is still in control because you realize YOU are self-reliant on your unlimited subconscious capacity.

  • That sounds like a great definition of self-actualization because it takes the mystery out of the definition and instead narrows it down to a concrete goal we can all strive for and attain some day.

  • Thanks Elton! Keep up the good work!

  • I guess from now on, I should now say, my day was fine and on the road to self-actualisation.(O.o). It's this kind of idea that directly relates to our social tendancy to create religions, maybe then this is the root feeling from doing good off self Actualisation relates to religions. X-) Maybe not but they do explain philosophers seeking wisdom. Philosophy's been around longer than the time, the term was coined by maslow.

  • I am just trying to find how to get Neon Gift of Self-Actualization in roblox but this was cool too.

  • wow this is linked from my vid, i love eldon

  • Love and Serve

    Great message. Thanks!

  • Well I think that part of self-actualization is obtaining confidence that you can be who you want to be, what you know you can be, but just haven't taken that step yet. If part of self-actualization is helping others, that's great. I'm a very self-less person, but I think that's why I associate my own self-actualization with selfish desires. However, maybe that's not a wrong thing, as I believe that I have to focus on myself for once.

  • Great message delivered by a genuine 'big soul'

  • Nice to see this. The explanation could go further, though. I am incredibly blessed to have experienced it. The most unbelievably joyous moments. One has to want it real bad. The blissful feelings don't last long, yet you still retain enough. It comes by seeking the highest state; Jesus Christ through God.

  • Dr. Taylor has reduced one of the most complicated subjects of our time to the simplest truths! Self-actualization -- 3 most edifying minutes! Angelina Heart

  • Great message from a great spiritual teacher.

  • I rated this at five--not two.

  • This kind of thinking could really change the world.
