@Kibblesforme123 Yeah the power output wasn't impressive like V8s of today....GM did have much more powerful V8s that year but unfortunately, this car didn't see it. The Corvette Gran Sport of that year had the 330 hp version of this motor which would have been WAY nicer....or even the ZR1 motor rated at 405 hp with the same displacement.

@Kibblesforme123 But a shitload of torque, and its stock. Dont forget it was a mid 20k dollar car, it wasnt outrageously expensive so you got a lot of engine at a good price. With a little tweaking you could easily reach 350+HP

The police, nor the helicopter were able to catch up to the Impala, putting the police force and Ford in utter shame. You might just have a different opinion once you see that police chase. Look up "Impala SS police chase" on Youtube. That car is a Beast.

that car is cherry. My dad would chew you out for driving it in the rain. The only thing i disliked about the 94 95 96 impala was it didn't follow the chrome standards like the 64. It should have come with more chrome than the caprice. My family own's 3 1994 caprices two 93's one being an LS sedan and one being a woody wagon, and i personally have an 92 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser.

I have heard most recently that a Caprice for the public is possible after the release of the PPV. I know GM would hate to lose to Fiat-Chrysler in the RWD sedan and fleet market. Even Ford is getting rid of the Crown Vic and replacing it with a Taurus with maybe an EcoBoost motor. Full frame, live axle sedans are on the way out. Still gonna hang onto my 94 Caprice though.

@macktenful Latest I've heard was the new Caprice PPV was only a police version. Then I heard if there's enough of a demand, and GM pulls their head out of their A#$, we could get a civilian version. Which we know as the Pontiac G8. But the PPV is a longer wheelbase. We'll see what happens.

It's an investment car. Beat on a 9c-1 or a well worn in Impala SS!! Low mileage Impala SS's are getting harder to find. I have a friend with one, original owner, and this one has less mileage than his! I thought his 15K miles was low. For 5K miles, that thing should have original everything except oil+battery!

I have my grandpas 94 Caprice LT1 I absolutely recommend buying either a Caprice or Impala. I love them both. They really are very fast, mine still flies even at 140,000ML. Little known fact, 1996 when everything went to OBDII, the Chevy LT1 got more electronic engine controls and required a different camshaft, coincidentally resulting in 275HP!! for all LT1's Caprice Impala, Fleetwood, Roadmaster. Get out and buy one!!!!!!

I have a black 95 and DCM 96... To those who claim they're gas guzzlers: They're not. I commute 100 miles each day, and average about 25mpg. The wife has an 07 v6 accord, and they get nearly identical mileage. The LT1 is quite a unit. The factory tune has them running a bit rich in the part-throttle tables, that's all. Nothing Tunercat  and a lambda can't correct.

If you're not a gearhead, get something with a four-banger, these aren't for you.
