  • whitch has more ram?

  • iPhone for kid, that is mean u r a kid when u use a iPhone : ) . cheers~

  • I had the palm pre for a couple months before it got dropped and broke...Easily the best phone I've ever owned...ended up getting a Hero as something new...I HATE THIS PIECE OF SHIT!!!!!!!!!! Enough said...

  • @jeremys1713 lol I just sold my Hero for a Pre. The Hero nets about $100-125 on ebay and a Pre nets about $75-100. I made $30 switching to a better phone. Plus, Pre is getting WebOS 2.0 soon (people are thinking March), which means Flash 10.1 support. As you know by now the Hero's Flash Lite is pretty shitty. Even overclocked to 748 MHz the Hero is just slow. ARMv6 just doesn't have a place on Android, the OS has soooo much overhead. WebOS is faster, the Pre is an ARMv7 device making it speedy.

  • Getting the Hero next week, hope it doesn't suck...

  • PALM PRE FTW!

  • only if palm pre did android OS... death to the Iphone!

  • i have the Pre now...had it 6 days...and my replacement for it (HTC HERO) is already on the way...

I LOVE the Pre's WebOS...it's freaking awesome, but, (and its's a BIG BUT), the actual hardware is CRAP...6 days and my Pre is already suffering from the "OREO EFFECT" and the DEAD PIXEL SYNDROME...not to mention, if I wait another maybe 3 months or so...it will also start the discoloration effect.

So....as much as i love the webOS...Im switching to the HTC HERO.

  • @hd883low17 i've heard a lot of rumors of bad hardware. it seems pretty hit and miss. some people never have problems and some have a ton. it's pretty sad actually. i just can't suggest the hero having owned it. i've been using it as my personal phone for just about a month...and i've already sold it off. it's faster than my old Moment but just because my Moment had no GPU drivers. the pre is just a lot better speced than both. it's sad that you need 4g for good android on sprint.

  • palm pre kicks htc hero's ass

  • He said the Hero is multi-touch. Is that true. I thought it didn't have multi touch ability till the 2.1 Update in June.

  • Your camera fucked up in the middle of the video. LOL!!!

  • HERO KICKS ASS!!! best phone i have ever used!! i would never buy the pre cuz of the hardware is junk. except for the processor

  • hero is the worest a moment is wayyy bettter then a hero. i Owned both. the Pre is just a clean ass phone. Feels more put together then android but moment is great if u like android... but pre is a power house compared to the hero and the moment

  • @mazor13

I've owned the pre and hero. for us people who like to hack our devices in a more complete manner. the hero is better. pre is solid, and the proccessor can be overclocked. which is awesome. but the fact of the matter is this. pre launched after droid. palm is going under. $3 a share. they shipped 800k units and sold half. if you want a device that gives you more functionality and is going to be alive in the years to come. go with the hero/android. pre is a wonderful idea, but thats it.

  • The HTC is such a POS. Did you notice how the horizontal on-screen keyboard takes up the entire screen for the HTC...completely stupid. Go with a Pre and you won't regret it.

  • Thanks for posting these. It was a big help! im going with the htc i think tho

  • which is better? samsung moment, palm pre, or the new htc hero on sprint, all on sprint, which is better?

  • the htc is buggy and the interface is slow and laggy how ever the pre from what i have heard is not very soild?

  • Htc sucks and android sucks to complicated simplicity works best look at the iphone and pre great phones Im so disappointed at google for making such a cumbersome and sluggish os

  • The Hero made best smartphone of 2009 and besides that hun buisness ppl like me dont care for 'simplicity' we need good email integration and conference calling. The Iphone is great but you'd be surprised at how little buisness users care for smartphones like iphone and pre despite there many buisness apps. The Cumbersome movement is the hardware the Sprint one moves alot better (in case you didnt know)

  • How is this even a Question? HAHA...... the hero makes a joke of the palm pre....

  • i am going to get one of these 2 phones. which one is better?

  • Palm Pre sucks for anything else except internet

  • You actually believe that don't you?

  • would you say the HTC hero is better? bc idk which one to get...

  • can the pre go on youtube

  • yes it can, comes with a built in youtube app.

  • i was getting the droid but for some reason att's lawsuit to verizon is preventing me from getting it (im switching from att cuz there service sux srry iphone 3gs but i have to move on) so its either tmo or sprint and im not interested in any phones on tmo so im getting the pre on sprint in a few days cant wait

  • theses r the two phones i have to choose from on sprint will somebody give me some advice i do alot of sms texting and web browsing

  • I don't have either and WAS tied between the two.

I would completely go with the Pre for web browsing and media and I really decided I don't care much for the Hero. (BTW: If you don't already know, the actual U.S. Hero looks way better) I'm not a big fan of the scroll wheel personally, but meh. I am now deciding on either the Pre or Pixi depending on keyboard usability.

Hope I helped, GO PRE!! lol

  • this isnt the sprint hero i dont think

  • Good goin Noah! WebOS doesn't have a future

  • i would get the hero their getting updates and it will have a lot more features.

  • they need better friken musicc but yea imma get the hero as soon as i can =]]

  • im getting a palm pre next week i cant wait

  • would you be able to play online flash games on a phone with a physical keyboard?

  • DID U HEAR THAT HTC HERO !!!!!!!!! PRE is kool though

  • Very disapointed with the Hero's problem with multitouching. I just went to sprint to check out a Hero and it was choppy. So smoothness of functions goes to Pre. Potential goes to Hero. If you believe in delayed gratification go with Hero.

  • I love my pre. The hero looks awesome too though. Both are way better than any iPhone,

  • man noah fuck that game! that shit piss me off!

  • Man.. people are so damn winey. stop the damn complaining

  • Is the HTC Hero a Windows Mobile phone?

Because I see no WinMo on it. This pleases me because I love HTC phones but theyre too slow because of WinMo and my last 2 HTC WinMo phones crashed; the first one after 5 days and the 2nd after 3 weeks. But not the Hero. I want the Hero soooo badly

  • the HTC hero is an android phone with HTC's sense user interface.

  • its not windows mobile, its android

  • alright thanks

  • the hero is an android phone like the g1

  • I also have owned a PRE - and to sit here and pretend like there isn't MASSIVE jerky lag on almost EVERY APP - not to mention even jerky lag when it comes to swiping the APP DRAWER. Hero is by far, LIGHT YEARS ahead of the Pre in fluidity, and i prefer 10,000 apps to the few dozen I have from Palm.

I don't want to root my phone just to change my SMS tones, or have widgets. I don't want to have to install homebrew just to install apps. Pre has a LONG WAY TO GO. Goodbye PRE - Hello HERO!

  • hmm, my pre has no lag, don't care about 10k apps or iphone's 75k apps, especially when most people only really use about 2 dozen

  • lol - your rebuttal is completely misguided and irrelevant.

first of all - it's pure speculation you bring to the table. MY argument & FACT remains - the preapp store has 59 apps, period. THOUSANDS of users forced to chose from DOZENS of apps - not THOUSANDS of users chosing from THOUSANDS of apps.

secondly your statement of "2 dozen" apps is drawn from where? friends? most people i know run at lest 5-10 games and 20-30 apps on android. there are apps for things like camera, SMS and dialer..

  • Comment removed

  • lol spoken like a true shyster

  • Noah - You can get a book mark list on the Pre....once oyu go to the visual bookmarks if you then click on the WEB menu (top left) and choose BOOKMARKS it will give a list of bookmarks.

  • I've owned the Pre for almost 3 months now and am so disappointed. Although the apps are finally rolling in, the battery life and small keyboard are horrible! I want to try the Hero if Sprint will let me do the swap without paying full price...

  • tell them you're going to leave if they don't. they tend to respond to those threats nicely. :P

i was thinking about getting the Pre because i love Palm & Sprint & also because it was the only type of iPhone-esque smartphone on Sprint. even though i liked what i read & saw about it, i just wasn't really excited. then i found out about the Hero & i can't wait to get it! i'm so excited about it. i'll probably like Pre's successors (hopefully it has some).. but for now i'm goin' with Hero.

  • is it me or is the stock browser on HTC HERO very sluggish when compared with the iPhone, mine is installed with the latest update

  • ya, i think so.

  • Htc HERO has UI like iphone & functions of both windows mobile & iphone.

  • htc hero has flash on every web page.

  • pre is worthless with all the substandard features.

just have a look at its ugly deplorable touchscreen keyboard.

no doubt, it appears the pride of the dump.

  • android is your big daddy you MF.

so, better watch out what you say.

  • by the way people there is a virtual keyboard for the pre u just have to get the free app.

  • that htc phone is ugly as hell!!!

  • yea it is but not the sprint version ....

the htc hero andriod for sprint is sexy like alicia keyz

  • lol

  • how did he miss the bookmarks on the pre. they were right in front of him in that option menu he pulled down at 8:08

  • hero looks awesome but i kinda want a physical keyboard now (never had one). i think the real fight will be when instinct q which has a physical keyboard comes out a month after the hero. i think i'll wait til it comes out and compare the instinct q to the hero

  • yes maybe but consider the samsung touchscreen isnt very good at all and also it isnt multi touch and not quite as responsive ive had time to feel the insinct normal and isnt very well made

  • I'm upgrading from a Windows Mobile 5 (PPC 6700) and have narrowed my next choice down to these two devices. After extensive comparison I'm leaning heavily toward waiting for the HTC Hero. Reasons: 1) Storage cards. I don't want to be limited to 7 Gigs of storage. 2) Android system flexibility; it already has over 8000 programs for it. 3) Better camera, with video. 4) Larger multitouch onscreen keyboard. Speed will improve with revisions and 3G connections. Tough but Hero wins.

  • but its up 2 u but also consider this about the sense ui as well it might not be able to upgrade like nomral android

  • what i personally feel is that htc hero is the best buy at present.

  • I like this guy and some of his videos. But, I do believe that he needs to do a lot more homework on the Pre. The Palm Pre is a way more better phone than the HTC Hero and is coming out with an Huge update and will release tons of Apps really soon to the public between October and December. Palm will soon regain its dominance as the premier smartphone carrier. The Webos update 1.2 should be out by the end of this month. This video comparison was terrible.

  • The Hero is also getting an update, and I would like you to prove that the Pre is a better phone, because all you have done that I can see is make me believe you're an ignorant fanboy. They're both very nice, and at the end of the day it comes to personal preference, just like those that prefer the iPhone.

  • HTC and their little android phones has had a short history with terrible phones that produce little results. Palm has been around since 1995 and is still producing amazing software and hardware. It's not that I'm ignorant you bitter punk, it's just the fact that I've seen Palm do this before. They were in a slump and now they will eventually gain their dominance as the premier leader off smartphones. Yes people do have personal preference, but people also like user friendly and that is PRE.

  • This isn't about Palm's past, this is about you claiming that the Pre is a much better phone, but it doesn't look any better to me and I prefer the Hero. Don't make a statement like that if you can't prove it's better. The Hero is a great improvement on their other Android phones.

  • did n e body notice his htc hero said AT&T!!

  • seems as if pre is gonna be the future with so many features MISSING like it misses now -- java video recording customisable widgets flash in browser good onscreen keyboard a trackball so many free apps etc... SO IF ANDROID GETS MORE FEATURES BY THE END OF THIS YEAR /BEGINNING OF NEXT YEAR, the PRE will be MISSING some very good features again. SO, the PRE is gonna be a "MISSING FUTURE." ROFLMAO !!!
  • and also I had service with every other company and sprint is the best provider currently do not bash if your on another network and I personaly have sprint but know verizon has better coverage but what they loose out on is priceing which sprint has the best in and very very good coverage right behind verizon and now with free mobile to mobile on any network at anytime with unlimted text, browsing navgation, for 69.99 its the best price check around if you dont believe me sprint is back 4G soon

  • I agree with all your comments in every single way, I had the htc touch pro and it made windows mobile likeable so i love htc phones but the pre clearly is the better phone( or at least will be through updates) i also agree with the sprint thing, basically i agree with everything you have just said espicially how the iphone will have to realease an all new iphone to compete. webos is the future.

  • web os is the future even with htc sense and i love htc phones and have had them for years cooking my own roms but I also know that win 6.1 and 6.5 is absolute compared to web os in its new current form win will not catch up until win 7 and by then web os will be so superior the sense is nice but still is miles away from web os as is the iphone 3gs which is if your a developer it is maxed out apple will have to release a all new iphone next yr to compete look for it but right now their num 2

  • pre has a virtual keyboard working as well as the iphones and heros in reg and landscape mode and its still beta, with homebrew which anyone can get the pre already has over 200 usefull apps remember its the quality of apps not quanity it also has web os updates around the clock with 1.2 this month to fix every problem that is flawed so far palm is listening to complaints and fixing them more updates then any other phone that was a review of a stock pre with the pre current its that much better

  • pre had a virtual keyboard =)

  • Overall good review but I think you need to do more homework on the pre you mentioned some flase info,

The hero has more features now over the pre but over time the pre will smoke the hero as it has a better proccesso and through updates will get more features like videor.

You also may think that htc has more apps then the pre ( False)

If you open classic on the pre you will have about 20,000 more apps then the hero

the only thing the hero has over the pre imo is a 5mp camera

  • i thought the Pre had flash. :(

  • october-december it should have flash

  • the pre on cnet had a flash... im pretty sure it does think im gonna gt one 2morrow...

  • is it going to at&t

  • Hey Noah can you make a video testing of the htc hero? please i want to see how does it look for when i put videos on youtube!

  • don't forget you can add a media card with the HTC so you not capped at 8GB

  • awesome intro music!

  • uh... you can view your bookmarks on the Pre in list view as well. if you're going to attempt a professional review, you should know the capabilities of the devices you're using. the keyboard for the hero might be really nice, but look at how much screen you're left looking at when the keyboard is up. it's like a quarter of the screen as opposed to the entire screen on the pre. poor quality review.

  • Thanks for review. Made me glad i held off on the Pre, knowing new android phones were on the way. I have been disappointed in every palm product I have ever owned but the web OS looked good. ant wait till I can preorder the Hero and pick it up in October. Keep up the reviews.

  • whats an android phone??

  • Hey

    lilnatedawg817, it's "it's" not "its". Dumbass.

  • your cool

  • wtf u can download this

  • Noah... the Pre does show you a list of bookmarks. You're just at the start page. At any time while you're browsing, when you hit bookmarks in the menu, it takes you to a screen with a list of bookmarks you scroll through...

  • EVERY REVIEW THIS GUYS CLEARLY APPLE Fanboy and biased

  • Palm Pre ftw

  • whoa. not even close. Pre >>>>>>>>Hero

  • i have a rant from sprint i want the palm pre

  • depends.first of all learn how to spell "waist" right you dumb fuck.its waste

  • i personally think the pre keyboard is awesome. like i have a sidekick and it was cool and all for the first week but i would give it up for the pre in a heart beat. and im seriously POed cause they made the new sidekick a month after i got my first edition lx

  • Hero >> Pre Point __________!

  • Palm Pre>>>>

  • (cont'd) So, I wouldn't buy the Palm Pre for that reason alone. I wouldn't get the full advantage of all of the features because the network over here lags like crazy. Sprint doesn't have enough towers where I'm at. Actually, T-Mobile does. So I would easily choose the G1 over the Palm Pre. And whatever the G1 will lack in features, my laptop will make up for. And I haven't seen an IM feature as stunning as the sidekick, yet. But I'm sure that's not the focus of the manufacturers.

  • Now, I'm a big fan of the latest technology, especially when it comes to cell phones. With my occupation, I need more than the outdated flip phone. But also, I won't buy a phone just for it's features if the network service sucks. And for me, the Sprint network is terrible. I owned a Blackberry Curve from Sprint and took it back in two weeks. I barely got service unless I was standing on one foot, with my left hand soaking in a half cup of goat's milk, and my body turned 36.7 degrees northwest.

  • As for flash pre will have flash. And ps. you can use your pre to teather. either by usb or bluetooth or wifi. available via homebrew and no rooting requ. :)

  • Noah: actually there is a onscreen keyboard that works in landscape too. it is homebrew. As for the web bookmards. in the web browser you go to the left top tab and go to bookmarks and they display in text. I do not see why you like the htc hero. the pre is simply better and the physical keyboard is much better than any onscreen keyboard

  • Just wait till u actually get the Hero in ur hand and use it a little......then the Pre will become nonexsistent......Android WILL take over the market!! Period!!

  • ive played with andriod and i am not impressed. its not very ground breaking. the pre on the otherhand is so fresh and new. and works great. Its so fast even faster the 3gs on wifi. i do not see android flooding the market. it is physically impossible. the market is too big.

  • Well my wife works for corporate Sprint.... I actually own a G1 and have played with Sprints U.S. version of the Hero. Now 1..... The Hero is better than the G1. 2...evryone that has used my G1 no matter what phone they have, loves the G1. 3...Sprint will be releasing a 4G Android device "soon" (u didn't hear that from me). 4....Android IS the shit, here to stay, and Will be running the SHOW here shortly......ANDRIOD RULZ!!!!!!

  • Well i have played with the g1 and like i said I DIDN'T LIKE IT. As for 4g the palm will son also release a webos phone with 4G. As well as two new palm phones this year. both webos. As you can see the hero has alot of lag!! pre has close to none! as for apps you have the upper hand for now. but the developers are so excited about webos. and the apps have synergy so it will tie into the phone itself. And as for speed and from what is see pre blows hero out of the water.

  • In my opinion Palm pre wins, better User Interface, nice features such as converting text, sms, mms all in one, nice notifications, flash is coming soon and they are working with adobe, apps are still in beta but give a year and it would be half the size of iphones app store. There are ways to install other software, such as onscreen keyboard, teathering via homebrew on the pre since theres the app store is still in beta, but it just gives you a clue on what the real app store is going to be lik

  • download the onscreen keyboard every body

  • How do I get your job? XD

  • lol true it does have some awsome widgets and other things

  • I really wanted to like the Palm more than the Pre, but I just don't see it beating Android. I also don't really like the "cards".

So... HTC Hero ftw! (for now)

  • PALM PRE ftw

  • Glad you like it. I've always loved Palm, even back in the day when Palm OS 3 was all the rage. I just think that Android, as an OS, suits my needs better.

  • PALM PRE FTW

  • Jus got my Palm Pre anyway. Palm Pre is way better. Thanks.

  • hero is now confirmed on sprint. Ill stick with my pre! it pwns

  • the heros not coming on tmobile????

  • Nope. T-Mobile made a statement at the myTouch release that they will not be picking up the Hero. That's why I jumped ship and switched to Sprint. Much better sevice and devices.

  • the service honestly does depend on where you live though.

  • That is true. T-Mobile was awesome when I first signed up. For whatever reason, the service started dropping drastically the last few months I had them. Their 3G "coverage" is a joke.

  • Is there no more HD Quality videos any more?

Was a good idea to try it out!

  • Who has the time to watch all three videos?

  • no1. unless they're SUPER BORED!!!

  • or have no life.

  • true

  • seems like webOS lovers have got the best phone (palm pre) in their hands except for --

    # video recording

    # java

    # an onscreen keyboard (even if not as good as that of hero)

    # customisable widgets

    # trackball

    # flash in the browser

    # so many apps

    # etc... ROFLMAO !!!

  • Everything you mentioned is coming to my Pre with the exceptions of a trackball(obviously) and the widgets. Both of which I hardly used on my G1. "ROFLMAO"

  • Customizable widgets are coming to the Pre!?? When? If so I am definitely picking up the Pre because that's the #1 thing that has me leaning towards HTC Hero.

How are the widgets going to work?

I always thought there should be some sort of "Home" screen with customizable widgets like Hero. The screen could even act as a card.

  • they are getting flash soon....apps are coming they just stared...people expect a cellphone to have 20,000 apps already...i remember when people made cellphone just to call people now you need all that silly crap...plus half the stuff you saying will come soon :)

  • thanks......

but, HTC HERO for me too.

  • Weird never realized that Pre and Hero have the exact same size screen. Why is the Hero hardware so much bigger, when the Pre has a built in keyboard? No flash support on the Pre might be a deal breaker for me, but I still think Web OS is better. The integration of universal search and chat on the Pre are superior to anything Noah demoed on Android. Also performance wise the Pre ran circles around the Hero in these videos. Very disappointed in the Pre's app store and lack of virtual keyboard.

  • HA! Punny. "The two things i wanna TOUCH on..." GET IT? HAHAHA!

  • dont disrespect Noah, he is a great phone reviewer

  • Is it me or did HTC copy coverflow from Safari with it's bookmarks layout?

  • calm the fuck down you shit bag because where im at SPRINT SUCKS BALLS THEN YOU FUCKING NAME SAYS 93 on it youve had sprint since you was 8 years old I HIGHLY DOUBGHT IT YOU FUCKING TOOL

  • dude fuck offf for real!

    let noah do his thing!

  • ?who was that to

  • Why are you 12?

  • keep them comming Noah

  • palm pre wins in my opinion

  • Why would you make "droid dog" when there are substantially more Blackberry, Windows Mobile, and iPhone devices being used?

  • i love htc's newer hardware (hero, magic, g1) but i like webOS more. I really wish the pre had a track ball, it woud make so many things easier

  • haha,when i fist saw the Pre,i thought it had a trackball

    guess not

    lolol!

  • IF????? Why not just add it.

  • i didnt know there was part 3....

    is there a part 4?

  • it says wrap up so that was the last 1

  • thanks :)

  • I'm getting Hero in mounth. I can't be happier !!

  • your getting a hero in your mouth?

  • he meant to say in a month

  • good video dog...

but when u gonna do review on omnia hd

  • its true...apple did its best it could with 3GS and now has hardly anything better up their sleeves right now.

if we really want something to put off hero, we can wait for pre's update, or else htc hero is gonna rule.

  • apple just a few days ago, fired google CEO from its board of directors due to the frustration when it came to know the public response to htc hero

  • people who were earlier using iphone and pre and used the hero now, are switching to htc hero.

on what planet are you living, dude?
