Your not aloud a lock knife because it make it a fixed blade which have not been legal for even longer. One handed opening is not band but not liked, but that knife dose meet all UK law but you would still get in to tubble with the police unless you had a very very.good reason.
Just a suggestion, if you're going to keep using one of those knives as a gentleman's folder you could do some small modifications to the knife, like milling out a small spot on the handle and glue a small plaquet with your initials in or get some engraving job done on it, just something small.
I find you quite threatening. Have you bucked up and gotten yourself a Para 2 yet? The DLC coated blades and the digicam satin blades are out already. Put some po boy cash away because I can't wait to see you take on it. I'm incapable of thinking for myself. ;)
I have a choice between cheaper Tenacious, and the PK, the RNF variety..I think that for playing around, I just feel the PK is the ticket, it just seems a more laid back and fun option...not as good, but more satisfying to own carry handle and fondle...I'll get both :)))
apparently the lock law is there so that you can't stab somebody without the knife folding on yourself... its supposed to be a deterrent. but its bullshit.
I just think its unfair that in some parts of the US you can walk around with a Spas 12 on your back and a 6 inch auto knife and here im not allowed to carry a 4 inch lock knife... like the Cold steel recon 1 for example.
I think the knife laws in the U.K. are there for a very good reason. All of the criminals have handed in their locking knives so the people in the U.K. are now safer. Besides, you shouldn't be allowed to defend yourself, ever ;)
im from uk! "reason" for the law is cos a knife with a lock is "the same as a fixed blade knife" in the eyes of the law. these jobbies are damn expensive here effectively $160 but im still goin to save up for one. nice review dude
Hey Archman that was so funny at the end lol, I'm thinking of getting the ukpn or the millie and can't decide, I know there completely different, what do you think?
Your reviews are always very entertaining and informative.
When you talked about the Native in another video and said that there were "two things" which kept you from buying the Native before, I instantly knew it must be handle material and the rivet, and - it was!
So I guess we are all one family, no matter where we live...
THANKS for the kind words! I guess all things considered, screw construction is a new concept in folding knives... but I certainly appreciate it! Spydies are great either way! The knife community really is a family! There does seem to be a tight bond for those who really appreciate these gadgets... it brings ALL walks of life together!
good video - like this knife will have to get one soon. Reason for the non-locking law is because locking blades are more dangerous in a violent attack i.e. in a stabbing frenzy non-locking blade is likely to close over and hopefully reduce injury. The laws kind of ruin it for knife lovers like myself who are law abiding but thats life just got to keep our nice locking and fixed blades at home or on private land/hiking.
Hey great review, I really enjoy your reviews. You do a much better job than that nutnfancy dude, he's so freakin long winded. The info about the screws on the UKPK is awesome man, thank you. I should be getting my UKPK in a couple days. I got the orange one.
lmao i accidentally brought in a 3'inch key ring pen knife in school......... i was fucking lucky i wasnt caught,,,,, happened bout 2 months ago....... i never carry it when walking around unless i went to london lmfao
I find it hilarious that they banned carrying a knife with a saftey feature (the lock). I can sort of see the pollies messed up thinking, but thats what a lock is, a saftey feature. On another note, xD drinking game, awsome vid man.
As someone else has said locking folders are in the same category as fixed blades, machetes, axes etc... You need a reason for carrying them i.e gardening, hunting, fishing, martial arts...
This was designed to be a UK legal EDC knife. Too expensive for me, I'll stick with my SAK :)
I have no need for it because I am in the US but I kept seeing pictures and good reviews on the forum and I just fell in love with it. Comes in this week :D
Nice review, you brought up a lot of points that knife-knowledgeable folks would be concerned about. Looks like a very well thought out and designed knife overall. Thanks for sharing!
You think UK laws suck, here in Aus, you have to have a "valid reason" to carry any knife. Like it is for you guys with locking blades how you need a special reason, well same here for like i said, any knife. Of course all us aussie knife knuts still carry our stuff anyway. How many random searches have you had walking down the street? Yeah. I EDC a SAK and sometimes a BM 710 or kabar mini dozier.
I have decided the day my government does that is the day i get a US visa.
And unfortchantly in the UK with a new set of 'terror' laws, the police have the right to search you with out reason and they do. I was search last year, wasn't carrying at the time
Man, my family is planning on a trip to the UK in a few years, I'll have to pick one up before then. Alot of money for non locking knife though. At least for me.

Love the knife although the action is pretty stiff and tight. Hope it smooths out over time. Was yours stiff, too? Thanks, and enjoyed the video.

I live in the UK, and i reckon if i carried it and got "caught" it would still get taken away. people would still find it "threatening".

The reasoning behind banning lock knives is that fixed blades are somehow very malicious and an engaged lock makes the knife fixed when engaged.
I went with a suggestion you gave me a while back on another video and got the G10 foliage version, should be arriving in a couple of days.
Thanks for this video, keep up the awesomeness!

I don't know why but I'm just now seeing this video for the first time. I think sometimes there is just so much on YouTube that I glance over things.
I have a tendency to say "Um" way too much in my vids too.
I do like the UKPK. It rocks. I think that for whatever reason there are many knife lovers that are "anal retentive". I am as well.

so true lock on knife its just a safety thing lol, if you want kill some one you can do it with a kitchen knife you dont need cold steel or spyderco
seven47katana 3 years ago
Strange thing they don't allow locking knives, do they think you wouldn't use the knife for SD beaucause you can cut yourself or something?
I like the size, shape and clip of the knife, but i can't carry a non-locking one, it's a little dangerous.
Good job, it was 10 minutes well spend.
holdenccc 3 years ago
a laywer uk proved in court that a locking knife was for all intent a purposes a fixed blade.and you need a good reason to carry a fixed blade knike.
so in the uk a locking knife is classed as a fixed blade knife.
allbritishallwhite09 3 years ago
i think is wrong, a man should carry a folding knife. in SUA they carry guns and we can't have with us a small blade?
a folder can never be like a fixed blade, it's not even 1/10 as strong.
A guy can kill you with a fist, pen, rock, the object is not important, the people are fucked up.
holdenccc 3 years ago
afaik the lock on a knife is understood to lend for use as a weapon (stabbing and so on) in the UK
