@dendariiprime not much, cx550 has a newdesign, easier accessed ports and more easy to use. smaller and lighter weight. I think cx550 has less buttons, and more touched screen functions. CX550 can now support SD cards+pro duo memory cards. cx550 has 3.5 inch screen. and Sony made New batteries for the 2010 models. So basically, cx550 dont have same battery as the xr500. I think thats about it.

i love the quality of the cam

and the difference between the 2 cables is the one with green and blue is component cables to get HD straight outa the box (or you could use an hdmi) and the A/V is the red yellow white for standard def. Viewing

and where did you get it from? im looking at best buy there offering around $1050.00 seems expensive =/

The difference in the cables is that one is SD and one is HD. The SD one is the red white yellow one. The HD one is the one with more color.
