anyone who complains this is animal cruelty has no idea how much the dogs love it.i was a groomer for all types of dogs/cats and they will not let you do anything they dont like, not to mention the pets are usually better fed and bathed then most of the owners that bring them in, i mean you fat people.

People, will you please think about what you are saying? Grooming does NOT hurt a dog if it is well cared for and accustomed to the grooming process. However, if you work as a groomer, you rarely see people who take such good care of their dogs. You think it is cruel to make a dog stand for two and a half hours on a grooming table? What about the groomer who stands for 8+ hours doing their job without a break? No, that's not cruel, they're just a human. Plus, poodles (for the most part) love it.

As a groomer, I can tell you these dogs are well cared for. The people you should be calling cruel are the people that don't brush their dogs, that don't groom their dogs, that allow the dogs the become covered in mats and fleas, which leads to ACTUAL health conditions.

The dogs in these videos will never have an actual mat on them, are well socialized, have healthy skin and coats, and enjoy the attention they get.

the dogs would not let people do this to them if they didn't enjoy it. these dogs are VERY well taken care of, groomed all the time, kept nice and clean, and most are peoples personal family pets, who get to run and play just like any other dog. they only have to behave for a short time, and the shows are spaced far apart, its not like the dog has to stand around all day every day like that. the dye washes out easily, its not cruel, these are very loved and pampered animals. plus it looks cute.

@grannyzeebee What's cruel is making a dog run around in the fresh air without brushing it for months on end so it gets extremely matted and it's skin starts pulling apart because the hair is so tight to the skin. I'm a groomer and less than two weeks ago I had a dog whose matting was so bad it's skin had been pulled apart almost two inches long and it was festering and bleeding. So really, who is the cruel one? The people who keep their dogs groomed and let them run around or my client?

@AmbassadorLady it's not cruel it's nature. It's cruel to spend a lot of money on the dog's look, so it's owner can show off, when there are lots of animals in struggling shelters. This is cruelity - human's fucked up priorities. If you love animals then prove it in a better way than painting your dog. This is an entertainment for selfish pricks.

Were you saying it isn't cruel to make them stand for two hours, or it isn't cruel to not care for your dog and make it's skin tear apart because it hasn't been brushed? Dogs didn't start out like the shih tzus and pekingeses and malteses that have that long hair that tangles easily. Man bred them to look like that. That's not nature, that's man. And painting the dog is not harmful or cruel. It is safe and painless.

@123MIURA Btw, what does people spending money on their pet and an animal in the shelter have to do with each other? People can't adopt every damn dog in the shelter. What they can do is fix their dogs so they won't create accidental litters that grow up to go in a shelter. People can't just adopt every dog in a shelter. Spending money to get your pet groomed is an essential cost. These people own these dogs, so what money they are saving in grooming costs, they are using in SAFE dyes.

Poodles also like attention..and they get plenty attention this way dont forget how the AKC dogs have to go trhough..some live in a kennel due to thats all they are..show dogs which I think is worse than having a lil grooming fun like these..my poodle loves the grooming attention he has to have just to keep him up and keep him from matting etc..

Guess what people most dogs hate being groomed period. the dog in these competitions are very well taken care of. and my dog loves being in doors and he's an Akita mix. people give groomers way too much of a hard time.

Not getting dirty, different food ( vegitable, no protein ) The haircut is already been done at home, they just 'finish' them over there. Whatever people say, this is not right. A dog like a poodle is a dog that has a lot of energy. A poodle is originally a hunting dog. Look what we made of it.

@hutseflutsel Protein can be found in veggies too. Otherwise the human vegetarians would all be dead. Anyway, beyond that, grooming poodles in the classic continental cuts were to allow them to move easier when they were swimming, but their joints would get stiff and arthritic from being exposed to the cold. So, groomers left pouches of hair over the joints so they would be more protected. Yes, it is different now, but it did start to benefit the dog when it was performing it's breed duty.

Oh my goodness. First of all, these people are doing it for the money. First prize was like 2500,- No person there does it for the pleasure of their dogs. This is sick, poodles are such active dogs. This one girl who puts her dog at a vegitable diet to have nice hair..Thats sick, everybody knows that dogs need also meat so be healthy.

We made it happen that some dogs are allergic to meat. Over all, a dog needs the protein thats in the meat. A dog can live without meat, but its absolutely not natural.

Research pointed out the gastrointestinal of a dog is the same as a wolfs one. I know that, I am sorry for you. I spend 2 years studying animal bodies and food. @KJKennels I went with my dog to a show once, it took all day and she had to stand straight and walk pretty next to me. I can tell you, she hated it. I wish I never went their that day, but let her run in the forest instead, cause thats what makes her happy. A dog is a dog not a person. Some people just dont see that. We enjoy hotels and stuff. Dogs dont, dogs will play in the rain while it freezes and they still enjoy it.

I have a toy poodle he gets groomed and trimmed every 4 weeks but he also has a dogs life he runs round gets dirty and does everything a normal dog does he loves going to the salon and gettinbg washed and groomed and pampered. More dogs shd be washed and groomed imo not just poodles.

@bigtdevon These dogs like it. They are pampered pooches and they are used to it. To the dogs, its attention and they like it. If they didnt like it they would be thrashing and howling, not sitting there for hours on end standing tall and proud.

@KJKennels Exactly, no dog should get pampered or stay in hotels OR stand on a table for hours...People make that choice for them, but its not a dog is for. And a poodle is a hunting dog at first. A dog that needs to run for at least an hour everyday. I dont believe that happens everyday with these dogs. because when they are looking like this, it should not be messed up. People can decide for themselves, not for their dogs.

Just grooming is not feeding your dog months before vegitable food so he will look nice ( dogs need food with protein ), just grooming is not painting you dog, just grooming is not putting you dog in a hall with a lot of people, koud music and make them give a show, just for others people fun.
