"Child's Play" was an example of "cost vs. benefit." It actually had decent ratings, but it was insanely expensive to produce; because of all the remote taping done for the show, they had to pay no less than five directors, and to get good, funny material, they had to tape way, way more definitions than they would ever use. So the problem was the show needed to be a MAJOR hit to succeed. And while it got decent ratings, the ratings didn't justify the expense that went into producing it.
This was a good game show with children on it back in the 1980s. And I loved the theme song, both a combination of kids and adult textures in the same song. Hard to believe that Mark Goodson/Bill Todman Productions produced this in the helm of hit shows like The Price Is Right and Family Feud.
Thank you AdamNedeff for uploading this CP episode from when you were born, BTW the very next show has Fred Saxon sub-announcing for 6 shows followed by Johnny Gilbert sub-announcing and also, if you would've captured this episode with the full closing, this one had a short closing credits meaning this one was previously aired on October 4, 1998 at 7:00am CST immediately preceding the footsteps of the color BtC.
LOL! I loved how Bill Cullen would do those poses. :) He was perhaps one of the biggest kids there was. RIP Bill Cullen, you are sorely missed.

Because of this game show, the name Sasha Segan is emblazoned in my memory forever. Sasha was the best child clue giver ever.

We will miss Gene & Bill.

What I don't get is why some of Bill's later Game Shows didn't last very long, even though they were hits! Bill was a great game show host!

Actually, this game show was a version of "Hollywood's Talking" back in 1973 and it was from Jack Barry Productions.

Jack Barry would be honored to know that you think he was actually able to get Gene Wood to work for him. :-P
