i completely destroyed one of my friends in a drag race AND hill climb race on a 500 scrambler. he was on a wolverine 450. i ate him for breakfast in the drag race. he was doin about 20 on the start (we just came off a trail) and i started at like 5 mph. i caught him and destroyed that little shit yamaha. oh yeah, on the hills we were racing on, we were both in 4 wheel drive, dead stops, he had a smooth hill and i had a rough, steeper one....i destroyed that wolverine BIG TIME

@dant387 Well no duh. The Scrambler has more power and the Wolverine front differential doesn't lock.

But the Scrambler weighs 55 pounds more (at least the 1st generation and has less ground clearance under the swingarm plus smaller rear tires (22" vs 23"). And the Wolverine is physically smaller, so it fits in tighter places.

So although the Scrambler MIGHT do better in some situations, the Wolverine would be better in others.

I wonder how much of your "advantage" had to do with the rider?

@dant387 I haven't yet tried racing my Wolverine 450 against a Scrambler, but I do know for a fact that it climbed hills easier than my Brute Farce 750. The Wolverine took less effort to control, was more stable, climbed with less wheel slippage, and climbed faster.

This proves that lighter weight and a more stable platform sometimes outperforms more power and a locking front differential.

I have a 2000 wolverine and my buddy has a scambler 400. He can bearly bet me in a race. but...remember that he has a 400 water cooled 2 stroke and i have a air cooled 350 4 stroke...he should be able to smoke my ass...but he cant. he winns by 1 or 2 atv lengths, so the story is polaris sucks and yamaha rules! and they are in the same class. food for thought...just think if my wolverine was a 400 water cooled 2 stroke....there wouldnt be a race!

haha fuck u, polaris sucks...dont try and pawn it off that the wolverine is lighter..there is a difference, but not that huge of one between the weights of the two...plue the polaris has 50 more cc. and since the wolverine is capable of 4wd, its a utility, but its styled like a sport.

and my old yamaha moto4 could blow circles around that polaris on that trail. and its 2wd.. ill take my 450 wolverine anyday.

yea ok shank. me and my dad both have 2006 polaris atvs, i have a hawkeye 300 and my dad has the 800 efi. they both suck and will never start, and my hawkeye continuously breaks down on me, so i am buying a wolverine 450 4x4, and i hope its better than my shitty polaris

Polaris are junk. i've riddin them, i've known people who have owned them, and we've learnt to "hate" them.

Some people have good luck with them but me, my buddies and my buddies buddies, havent had such luck:p
