Vegan-ism is not a good way to lose weight. It isn't inherently a very healthy diet. There are vegans that are perfectly healthy, but they have to work hard at it, you have to know what you are doing...
People are usually vegans for ethical reasons - which is fine, it's up to them. Better than vegetarianism, which can be hypocritical if done for the same reasons as many veggies rely heavily on the dairy & egg industries which are just part of the meat industry.
I only discovered your alternate channels yesterday. I love facepalm response! XD Nice to see the darker side of HappyCabbie.
I'm rather shocked to find that you're a vegan! I embrace the omnivorous lifestyle. Veganism requires a bit more care to get the proper nutrients.
But if it's working for you, then keep at it! =)
When this vid was taken, You've lost 77% of my body mass. Nice! I'm one of those little folks with the crazy fast metabolic rates. I get shakes if I run out of calories...
That's something I noticed, the places that these undercover camera people take notice to, are the industrial slaughter houses, my mom grew up on a farm, and she says, farmers don't do half the crap these industrial companies do, my mom said on the farm, they always humanely put the animal down, before it went anywhere else on the farm.
I don't think I could ever be vegan, not the whole eating other animals aspect, it's the availability of cheep and less than 100% alternative meat products.
I love Fish, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and loads other things, that I just don't think would be the same with alternative meat products.
@TheHealthyChannel That is indeed the best solution! But my goodness, if you have to travel unexpectedly; if you are caught and can't get home in time....then what?IFor me it's easier to plan my meals and not let myself get too hungry, I have better control that way. Starving buffalos just rampage through everything, lol! So if you do have any survival techniques, I would love to know! :)
I recently went vegan as well. I watched the documentary film "Earthlings" and after that there really wasn't any other option than to step out of the animal industry completely and for good.
@TheHealthyChannel Yeah. "Hard" doesn't begin to describe it. It took me several days to get through the damn thing. I had to turn it off and remember how to breathe.
Someone said that the least we can do is experience with our eyes what they experience with their bodies. I'm part of the problem. I don'd fucking deserve to look away however much I want to.
@TheAtheistSwede I hope you don't have a pet either. If you do, you're picking and choosing from the movie. Yes, death of mammals is not pretty, but that's what meat is. I saw the movie and I accept that animal protein comes from an organism that has evolved the capacity to feel pain.
@pdblouin33 Well, as it happens I don't have any pets.
To be honest - I don't really mind the act of eating meat per se. What I do mind is the excessive and *completely* unnecessary torment they put these animals through. You know?
I have to remind my wife to sub to you. She's an excellent cook and specializes in quick, easy, healthy recipes that actually taste good. Without her cooking skills, I suspect I would be in your weight class. :P
If only I could stop sneaking the damned kit-Kats. :(
Do you have snapple? Because snapple does diet flavors and I HATE diet drinks, but I managed to find a diet snapple I liked.
Also; Coke Zero - it is not bad. Strange after taste, but...
i agree with avoiding soda pop or fizzy carbonated drinks. These drink cause bloating and oedema. I only water or fruit juice. I try to eat organic meat even though it is expensive.
Did you know that eating corn fed beef makes you fat. I heard about this on TBN of all things. It made think some of food we eat makes us fat because the way live stock is fed. So it is better to be Vegan or go organic. Check chicken and beef should be avoided
@AuntyM66 the american diet does consume way to much meat. The FDA recommends just 6 ounces which is the size of the palm of your hand. However I just get my protein elsewhere
Y'know what else you can drink? Tea! A collection of teabags will help you not be tempted to drink sugary drinks. Especially fruit-flaored herbal teas. And I sweeten my tea with Stevia. It's at the health food store =) you should totally try it!
water is always good... and exercising... I think I couldn't live vegan style... I still love my eggs and co... but 1 year vegetarian now... without meat works sofar...
You could try a lite beer that would give you less calories. Yes you are correct salad dressing is loaded with calories. I myself like my salad with some lemon juice.
AMAZING! I'm rying to transition to vegan now (im a veggie). The only thing is that you may want be careful drinking tap water- not sure where you live but most places in north america put flouride in the water system. and flouride is toxic. Berkey has a good water filter for this. (chesk out a vid on you tuce called The Flouride Deception - great documentary about flouride.
And i agree PETA has bad PR, although they do good things.
I use a water filter at home. There is some articles out there that show bottled water is not all that healthy, plus it adds to the landfills. In fact many of the bottled water comes from municipal sources. There are some pirated clips of Penn and Teller's show Bullshit that they exposed this bottled water hype.
Yes, bottled water is not healthy at all. Unfortunately regular water filters (Brita, etc) don't get rid of fluoride. Only reverse osmosis filters work. Theres a company called Berkey that also sells filters that are suposed to be great for removing fluoride (around 200 bucks).
Well soda is fine but certainly not at the levels I was consuming it. I can easily down a two litre bottle in one sitting. That is close to a thousand calories right there. The most important thing is the majority of your fluids come from water.
I mostly drink water also. Though for variety I'll make tea (no sugar), and my own lemonade, limeade. I'm typically pretty light on the sugar if I put in any at all. Oh, there's this place on my campus that serves this greate lemonade beverage with ginger and mint in it.
I operate with the belief of causing the least harm. I may have started being vegan from being inspired by a friend, but I've come to adopt and appreciate it for its merits.
I agree about the soda. My old manager did not eat meat either BUT he had this beer gut (didn't drink either) I finally figured it out after seeing all the soda pop caps on his desk. I cut drinking soda and lost ten pounds. I still drink soda but normally every other day.
im currently vegetarian, i would switch to vegan, but too many things have traces of animals, even in items that arent food, so i feel if im going to live in my city environment im going to have to bite the bullet for the time being.
i also respect that you dont get on your high horse and impose your diet on people who feel different. theyre who gave vegetarianism and vegan-ism a bad name.
I really enjoyed this...its answered a lot of questions I've had about your diet. You actually weigh less than me now, and I desperately need to diet..but I just don't know where to start.
Also, do you take protein supplements in lieu of meat?
I do not take any supplements other than a multivitamin. Nuts and beans are a great source of protein as is brocoli I hear. Google where vegans get their protein from and you will find many helpful resources.

Vegans eat primarily CARBS! What spikes insulin...... CARBS! What's the one hormone that completely blocks the body from burning fat?... CARBS!
Being Vegan/ vegetarian is NOT any healthier! It's not proven! The China Study doesn't prove shit so don't bring that stupid book up either

I dont understand Vegans, not eating food that comes from an animal, what foods do you eat that dont come from a animal?

Totally agree with you about ending soda usage. I stopped soda a few months ago, don't miss it, and dropped a couple dress sizes almost immediately.

About pork, it was my understanding that pork was fresh meat from a pig and ham was the pig meat that is preserved with tons of salt.
