Could you try testing this stuff water tamped against something like a 2mm steel plate? I think applications like that are where you really get to experience the difference between high and low explosives. :) Also it helps to determine whether it would be strong enough to detonate something like RDX.

The problem is that it's hard to make and really dangerous :(

Even low explosives can do a lot of damage if you water tamp them. Have you seen Boomboom314159's video "Flash Powder blows Railroad Tie in Half"?

I don't know exactly which video you mean but if I wrote HE FP is it the same comp.

The composition is secret, I'm not telling anyone. The particle size is close to 1 micron.

What is pvt?

I was tried this composition too.

The ratio was: 3:1 KMnO4:MgAl(325 mesh)

But a huge problem is this is very unstable compiosition :S

This is amazing, I might have to try and get similar results! I know you don't want to post the composition, but could you please just tell me the oxidiser you are using in this? I'm not planning to do anything stupid of course, it's just that it would be amazing to see a flash powder that has properties of a HE. Seriously though, it seems much more powerful than silver acetylide or anything like that. I didn't know flash powder was chemically capable of detonation...

It will probably initiate ANNMAl successfully but it's not a good option in blasting caps. The ferrocerium oxidises very quickly. It will lose it's power in a matter of days.

Is this composition as stable or even less stable than KMnO4 & Al? btw I like your videos, but you shouldn't be afraid to list the ingredients and ratios, are you afraid that someone might sue you? :-) keep trying out different explosives, fireworks etc.

I don't know exactly how stable KMnO4 / Al is. But I guess that this composition is more sensitive.

And it has one big disadvantage, it will lose its power very quickly.

I don't like to share these kind of compositions, it's a real HE and there are lots of idiots out there. Would you write the ingredients of HMTD and how to make it so everyone could see it?

One remark though. It seems like every time you try out a new composition, it's "the most powerful flash powder" you've made so far. I'll take your word for it, but it would be really interesting to have some data on those blasts.

Unless, of course, you're holding blast specs away from us because your compositions are top secret :)

I try lots of new compositions, but I only make videos with compositions which are more powerful than the previous.

I determine the power of the composition mainly by looking at the amount required for self-confinement. 1-2 milligrams is enough for a good batch of this mixture. The best ferrocerium /NaNO3 / mg flash powders require about 5 milligrams in a pile. And Mg/NaNO3/C requires about 0.4 grams in a pile to self confine.

Very nice work, is this a different composition than in your other videos? If so, how does it compare with your former composition's friction, impact sensitivity and storage stability? Does this one also use ferrocerium? Complements on the functionality of your fuse as well, it appears to have a consistent burn rate and practical speed.

It's much more powerful than my other super FP mixes with sodium nitrate and ferrocerium, and more sensitive. The more powerful it is, the more sensitive it is as well.

It can not be stored at all, because the ferrocerium oxidises very quickly.

The fuse is black match made with synthetic twine, it works very well =)
