I have always liked this song."Pat" is such a talented musician, and writer. His lyrics can make you laugh to the fullest,or touch that string in your heart!
Great.I tried to learn this after seeing a guy named fretkillr on youtube do it but it was a bit over my head. Think I'll give it another try!! Awesome!!
@Kacee2 Hopefully you've stumbled across 'Peach pickin' time in Georgia' too. Anyway, that's Frettie, what more can I say. Big THANK YOU for removing his account, YouTube! I've felt like an asshole downloading 150 Fretkillr's songs. Now I don't. We can't even post videos of ourselves singing in our bedrooms... wasn't YT all about this back in the days? Cheers buddy. ; )
This song captures the essence. You will never be good enough, so don't compete with other than yourself. And if you try to become the best, then you have to work hard every day of your life. You still have no guarantees -- you'll probably fail. But the beauty is that if you study people like Pat Donohue, then you can put music to your thoughs in a way that nobody else ever has. Maybe somebody likes it, or maybe somebody doesn't.
Pat, you need to put a version of "Drowning" up. One of the most beautiful things I ever heard. That song knocked me off my feet the first time I heard it and still does every time I do.
@edwdixon5 Agreed! Just heard " Drowning" on PHC by Pat.Beautiful song. Do you know who wrote it? Pat D perhaps? Can't find lyrics on net.Mr. D one of my fav performers. You know him in Ireland as well, it seems! Small world.LOL
Ah the first guy who's got it totally right, not a word lied here, yes indeed the manager with his 20%,a few phone calls and he's got his cash again ,the musician can work his balls off, driving from Coast to Coast, the playing is great and the rest can be flushed down the toilet. Greets Vic.
Ha ha bigben, freely swimming for as long as it lasts before eaten by a another, not such a big difference compared to modern society, don't you think? Vic.
I look a class with Pat at California Coast Music Camp several years ago. He borrowed my guitar to play one tune. Maybe some of that talent (and skill) will rub off on me.
I now know why I was afraid to go pro in my youth and remain to this day a stifled guitarist. The path not taken. :)

If you've never met him, he is so nice and down to earth. When you talk with him it's like talking to a friend. Sweet man and sweet sweet music.

Absolutely fantastic. How can anyone better describe genius. Chet would be proud, maybe envious. Mr. Donohue, I thank you. W Thomas Norman, MD

Yeah, there's a lot worse things you could be than a guitarist. Or would you rather be a fish???

Yeah, Vic, there always seems to be a bigger fish out there....just ask any athlete. Let's hope they never make a steroid for guitarists!
