  • Nice

  • what the hell, Idiotic conductor, he's getting paid big time while you calling him Idiotic, and probably training to be an engineer, where he is gonna get paid more. what the hell is wrong with you? Jealous much. because you wish you were getting paid like he is? so you call him idiotic.

  • At 5:15 I have video of that prototype for the metroliner!!!! It was a 4-car set of silverliner cars with a more aerodynamic nose, very similar to that of the metroliner. They used those smoothed noses on the metroliner instead of the silverliner.

  • Huuuuu ... many flat spots on many wheels ... they should go to a wheel lathe

  • nice video!!!

  • cool video

  • Comment removed

  • Can I make a video response

    "Diesels ruling the NJT"

The vids on my channel if u wanna look before I do a vid response

  • Thanks for the excellent photography. I especially appreciate your commentary. Thanks for that too.

  • In England, we call the conductor a guard. In the steam era, if a train made an unscheduled stop, it was the guard's duty to 'guard' the train, hence the name!

  • My train at 1:42

  • Are you protected by The 1st Amendment to take pictures on these trains?

  • Great one! There's a phase 4 amfleet at 02:49!

  • wow, a solid Comet V set! rare.

  • lol at the conductor

  • Why didn't you take amtrak?I take Njt sometimes, and they don't have the same luxeries as Amtrak.

  • By the sounds of it, they'd have needed to re-grind the wheels on that test train back into circular shape after that brake test.

  • Awesome video!

  • Great video.

  • Was that a electric engine with a diesel locomotive on the back at 5:42 ?

    Can they do that?

  • Yes it was.. and yes they can! They use the electric engine (ALP44M) under the electrified track (New York to Philadelphia),then the diesel (P40BH) to Atlantic City over the nonelectrified zone.

  • @TrainiacProductions They now go to diesel in Newark Penn to make sure the P40DC is working.

  • @TrainiacProductions GE should make a Genesis model with pantograph, now thats a duel mode engine!

  • @jfsa380

    that will be cool

  • at one point i kept thinking that pl42s were the same thing as p40s

  • They look pretty similar.. but the PL42 has an EMD 16-710G3C-T1 prime mover and is made by EMD and Alstom, whereas the P40 has a GE 7FDL16 and is made solely by General Electric.

    Thanks for stopping by!

  • hey great video and does the aces ever use that p42

  • Yep, it's always one P40 and one ALP44M.

  • i mean that p40

  • whats the NJT and Amtrak speed through Hamilton NJ and Prinston JCT?

  • (I may be wrong) but NJT is 90 MPH for both, and Amtrak is 125 Hamilton 115 Princeton Junction

  • NJT trains are good for 90+ from Trenton to Princeton JCT. NE Regional trains are good for 125 from PA to a few miles past Princeton Acela sets are good for 135 from the PA border to a few miles east of PJC.

  • I've seen locomotive hauled NJT trains hit 100 mph between New Brunswick and Princeton Junction, but I've never seen Arrow IIIs break 80 mph.

  • @TrainiacProductions they probably would run the NJT trains at those faster speeds if the cars could handle it cause i know the ALP46A's can go 125

  • @andybowe

You don't know how to spell Princeton?

  • make the commentary more laid back sounds kind of computerish in my opinion

  • What is that at 2:55?

  • Snow flurries!

  • Why is there a PL42AC on the NEC?

  • I have no idea.

  • Exccellant Video

  • nice narration

  • Awesome! This is one of your best yet.

  • Very nice catches jim.

  • very impressive

  • Excellent vid man!!! I took a midday NJT express last summer with a consist looking like the second train in the vid (alp44 with mixed comets). I was wondering about NJT's rules on cameras on trains so I filmed 'discreetly' lol

  • great video

  • Also how long did you stay in Hamilton?

  • Well.. before taking the train to PJC, I was at Hamilton for about a half an hour. After returning FROM PJC, I remained at Hamilton for another 20 - 35 minutes

  • Thanks! I hope to come here this year.

  • Np! And that's pretty cool to hear! If you'll be able to drive around, I could give you a few tips for a secret location I have ;D No one knows about it! Mwahaha. But, they will after I upload videos from there. Lol. But enjoy your trip out here! I hope you catch some good shots

  • I will, i hope i come here!

  • Why was a PL42AC on the NEC? They don't have enough respect to be on that line yet!

  • not all ACES is electrified, thats why Electric brings up the rear allowing it to reach Penn

btw, is that a NJT AEM7 or does it have different classification?

  • It's an APL-44

  • That is an NJT ALP-44 it look almost identical to the AEM7 but I don't think that NJT owns an AEM7.

  • NJT never has owned AEM7s and it doesn't now. But they have leased a MARC AEM7 and a SEPTA AEM7 a long time ago

  • I know that there is a difference, what what is the difference between and AEM-7 and an ALP-44?

  • no they dont

  • Is this New Jersey?

  • Yes Sir!

  • That conductor is f***ed up for telling you that you can't take pictures on board the train. As if you had a bomb in the camera. I wonder if they'll let me videotape next time I go on a train ride. What if a conductor tells me not to videotape while on a train...or worse, just watching a train at the station? No offense, pal, but some conductors are ass!

  • Everybody has every right to take pictures on the train. I had somebody call the cops on me in Linden, NJ

  • what in the world, who says you cant take pictures on board. i checked the rule book. there is nothing about it in there. i must be a conductor on a different new jersey transit.

  • haha.... well, apparently this guy is known for messing up the rules regarding railfans... he's been doing this for a while

  • nice video, but 'round here they are called P40BH.

  • Ohh... I completely forgot about that. Thanks for the correction

  • Sir your not allowed to take pictures on board sir. Thats just stupid!

  • niec vid Kyle! I dont mind the narration but i still like it with silence! LOl Nice Vid again Kyle

  • Thanks, Ian! Yeah.. I like it too, but I am not going to narrate any more videos. Thank again Ian!

  • Thanks! And no problem!

  • Hey Great footage, I enjoyed the narration.

  • Thank You very much!

  • Great video! 5 stars.

  • Thanks!

  • It was strange how that PL42AC was facing east when diesels usually face west.

  • Good narration, makes the video much more intresting knowing what your looking at.

  • Thanks!

  • nice video. and NJT got rid of the permit requirement years ago.

  • Thanks! Well.. tell all of those stuffed-shirt rent-a-cops that

  • amazing video nice Atlantic city test train

  • Thanks Matt!

  • No problem your videos are amazing

  • It's funny how I go there once and get harrassed by NJ's finest, and you go there almost daily and never get bothered. God I hate your state.

  • Hahaha. Well... never get bothered (anymore). For the first year or so of my going to Hamilton, I'd get a lot of questions from Transit Cops (RentaCops). I got so tired of them giving me their pathetically inaccurate and disrespectful lectures about me not being allowed to shoot that I called NJT HQ in Newark. I called a few people and now I have a permit to shoot. Anyone who bothers me there is going to have some legal problems.

  • I thought you (anyone) only needed a permit for commercial photography.

  • Great Video This Was an Fantastic Video I think the Narriation was Pretty Clever

  • i hate that noise that means the train is coming. its the worst!

  • It sure is!

  • OMFG, Great Catch bro. =]

  • Aha thanks John!

  • Nice video, the narration is excellent. Those new ACES cars look pretty sweet. BTW, ACES starts Feb. 6th, not 7th.

I like how at about 1:30, the strobes on the ALP-44 reflect off the Arrow III.

  • haha, I let people take pictures all the time.

  • Nice ONES

  • The narration is a good idea, but I prefer watching your videos without it. Other than that, great video!!XD Those ACES trains are awesome!

  • 5000000000000000000000 stars...GREAT GREAT GREAT!

  • A solid Comet V Consist 4:20

    PL42AC at 9:15

    Brake Test 5:47

    PL42AC pushing 0:20

    ACES Test 0:40

    good stuff man

  • That was awesome! Great job with the narration too! Im also excited to her about the ACES!

  • Thanks very much! I'm glad that you liked it! And yes, so am I! I can't wait to ride it!

  • Probably the best Trainiac episode ever. Nice luck with equipment here too. The narration is sweet. You are the MASTER of this!

  • Wow! Thank you so much for your comment, Adam! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it!

  • Why was there a PL42AC at one end of the first train, then an ALP44 on the other?

  • That was in fact not a PL42AC locomotive, that was a GE-P40DC locomotive bought from Amtrak last year. That would be a ACES (Atlantic City Express Service) brake test train, that will be for the new ACES service coming up in a few months, and those multilevels are Comet VI multilevels, the same they had, just in new ACES paint, those will only go on the ACES service and nothing else on the ACL and NEC, and some NJ Transit painted cars will be part of that service too, with the PL42AC.

  • I hope to catch the opening train on February 7. But, with the Comet VI/ PL42 sets; they're going to be used on ACES?

  • Awesome video!! Like the narrations! A few questions. Did the Metroliner speed by Princeton Jct. @ 165? Doesn't sound right. Second, why were there PL42s on the NEC?

  • Thanks very much, Trainrider1031. The Metroliner I mentioned was a test train conducted by Penn Central in 1965. The test was successful, but made PC realize that several track straightenings and adjustments were needed to make the NEC okay for high-speed action. As for the PL42s, I am not entirely sure. Possibly RVL moves, but I will not say for sure. Thanks again!

  • Also, that conductor who told you you're not allowed to take pictures is stupid. If that was an Amtrak conductor, I would tell him to look at the back of the system timetable. It specifically says BRING A CAMERA!

  • Seriously, this was your best video EVER! I knew NJT was going to start running ACES soon, but I didn't know when. Now after seeing these test runs, I'm guessing they will be starting official service by the time Spring rolls around. What caught my eye here were the repainted Bi-Level cars. I had no clue NJT would repaint them for this service. I wonder if the interiors are different too. Another interesting catch in this video was at 2:23 with the 5 car Regional. That's rare!

  • Thanks very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yes, the ACES trains begin revenue service on the 9th of February. The exteriors have been repainted into the ACES theme, and the interiors are incredible. Seriously -- coach has leather seats with great headrests. First class has leather seats that are so wide you can probably fit two people on each seat. Plus, there is a lounge car that offers snacks and beverages. This is one train NJT will be proud of!

  • Lounge cars? Man that's going to be something. After hearing that information, I really want to ride this. How many ACES will NJT run daily? Because I get the feeling this service will be competition against a few Regional and Keystone trains between New York and Philly.

  • excellent video, really great editing and production! awesome catches too!

  • Great video. Narration was pretty good for a first timer. Keep it up.

  • Excellent Video Jim!! Great narration!!

  • that train at 3:30 has a very loud bell

  • OMG, why are conductors saying that it's illegal to take videos/pictures of trains?

    A: I don't have a f***ing clue. :|

  • Great Video. Great catch with the ACES test trains. Dont listen to the conductor about not being allowed to take pics or vids. You are allowed. Grea stuff and keep up the good work. Ohhh yeah BTW, I will be out to take vids in the snow. Thanks for the heads up earlier. Will probably stay local

  • as of january 6, 2006, u are allowed

  • Great video. And a big Boo to that conductor.

  • wow gr8 action clip

  • The conductor who stopped you from using your camera looking out the window from your seat is an idiot.

  • Very Nice at least the conductors are paying attention I my self got ask to leave one while at the oldsaybrrok ct station by amtrak police even thoe I had been taking photos thier since januray 2003

  • First of all, another excellent production!

Second, I really enjoyed the narration. In fact, I'd suggest a little more narration, ID'ing the various locomotives, particularly for those of us who don't live near the NEC, and aren't familiar with electric power.

Finally, I assume the "no photo" remark by the conductor was for security. I think it's bunk. Do you ever get hasseled for taking pics at the stations? What's next....asking to see your papers?!?

    Thanks again!

    Mike

  • Was that PL42AC running down to ACL line? If so why? Capcity required or testing for that route?

  • Nice! I like the narration. I wonder if they actually have the legal authority to prevent people from recording on trains, or if some conductors just like to be pompous dicks. Security is usually the reason given (same goes for railfanning outside the trains). If they could show me where in the 9/11 Commission's report it says Al-Qaeda operatives taking pictures and videos on the inside of airplanes was key to their being able to pull it off, then I might understand.

  • Jeff Jacobs.... thats my friends father...

  • Who is your friend?

  • His name is kyle jacobs

  • Excellent man the best video yet i like the narration the best! Great catch on those aces trains i was wondering how they were going to deal with the power change since it starts in NYP. Thanks again!!!

  • also in the info box it says copyright 2008 u might wanna change it to say 09

  • The power change is why it has a diesel up front with an electric on the back. The diesel acts as a cab on the NEC up to Philadelphia, then the electric locomotive lowers its pantograph and the diesel takes over for the run to Atlantic City.

  • What can i say! You have really outdone yourself here! AMAZING!!!

  • kool voice ! lol great trains

  • This is a great vid, I loved it! That conductor was stupid. I had Amtrak police tell me before that I wasn't allowed to take pictures of trains, I didn't know that I had moved to Russia! Is that crazy or what? This is your bet video yet, keep up the great work! 5* rate!

  • The Amtrak police obviously haven't seen the back of the system timetable.

  • What's on the back of the system timetable?

  • On the last page of the book, there are "Tips for traveling on Amtrak". Tip 9 is "Look for scenic photo opportunities. Our trains pass many beautiful and interesting sights, so bring your camera. If you use film, we recommend medium speed (ISO 200 or higher)".

  • awesome dude trains are awesome in the boston area all the commuter rail trains are dieseled power no eletric except for amtrak

  • best vid yet i think..electric trains are so amazing!

  • i=what P40?

  • ???

  • sry, my fingers accidently type keys, what P40???

  • The ones on the ACES test trains at 0:40 and at 5:45

  • like what numbers?

  • I am not entirely sure

  • Good stuff! Great job with the narration, too.

  • this video is your best ever and i mean it!!!!! lots of great trains especial the alantic city express service test train

  • Thanks Corey! I appreciate it!

  • no problem it was worth watching

  • i see the NJT atlantic-city express train.

  • 1st view. Awesome video.
