020djm Cool! I was too scared to ride the Commando so stuck to "The Yellow Peril" - my yellow Lambretta 150cc. One of my mates had a Triumph Trident and another had an old Ariel square 4 (1000 c.c.) which he'd ride to school and piss the teachers off with.- wooo hoo! Great era for original music, and have great memories of skipping classes (bunking/wagging) with my mates to head back to my place and groove along to these and others.
Ahhh........ the wonderful snap/crackle/pop of stylus hitting vinyl, usually on the 60's bog standard Dansette autoplayer piled 8 singles high, cos that was how the masses enjoyed and appreciated the music, warts and all........before it was digitally castrated. But then we're livin in the past?
"Luved" your vid. editing! In the late 60s, I hedged my bets. I had a turbo-charged Lambretta AND a Norton 750. Tull music was for those clad in leather [or hippie loons] but I was accepted by "two tribes"? I commend an "open mind to music" to all.
2:08....."Now theres revolution but they don't know what theyre fighting"............=rebel without a cause!........sure, lots of rebels around, and thats healthy for society, but the rest of us want clean water and air! and better government in tune with our modern age!
notice anything about the vid? check out the hair styles,to similar to todays look ;). Well it could be a sign that classical music like jethro tull is coming back.
always thought these poor devils were much maligned, despite a really intriguing range of music, and plenty of it... never saw them back in the day, though a friend did, and watched anderson give up, drop the mike and walk off in the middle of an encore, so perhaps they come by it honestly. Still love the recordings.
sometimes I miss the snap crackle pop of vinyl... 'Album covers' were so great...you could read the print for one, and you could roll on them for another...
This sounds like a record that was put on tape and both of them had seen better days. I had forgotten what pops, clicks, wow and flutter sounded like together.
And, like the song says: I'm living in the past...Because I LOVE these bands like Jethro Tull, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Nirvana, Queen, Iron Maiden, etc.
And I know, some bands I said didn't start in the 60's
@knelledkismet ture enough. i an an old musician to the point where 3 doors down is still kinda new matchbox is still kinda new. im showing my age 41, help me thhhink of current shit that is gonna last the test of time if you dont mind Johnnes. if your not busy. peace
@MultiJohnnes Don't loose you're hope kid, there are lots of bands today that still go for the old sounds, it's true, nothing can beat the classics but they are much better than the bands you get on TV or whatever , there where some bad bands in the 60's just the way there are good bands today just that now you have to dig a little bit deeper in order to find anything decent, blame it all on the music industry...
@MultiJohnnes Lol your 12 and you think you're cool because you can name a bunch of bands before your time, when you probably only know about their most mainstream songs.
@MultiJohnnes Of course I know all of those songs. Again, you think you're cool because you can name songs. I said this before and your response was naming songs.
@MultiJohnnes You forgot The Who, The Kinks, Jimi Hendrix, The Small Faces, Jefferson Airplane, Kaleidoscope, Moby Grape, The High Numbers (The Who in the early days). Your dad must have gotten you into all of that good stuff, same with my dad. Long live rock
@MultiJohnnes Hahaha Metallica, Iron Maiden and Nirvana? Jesus Christ! Those bands suck! dude....but you are too young....you are gona realize when you grow
@reconfreshpapa I think you are too old and clumsy to judge what is right and what is not. Metallica, Iron Maiden and Nirvana were not as good as the classic rock bands, but they were good nonetheless.
@reconfreshpapa Yes, Nirvana sucks and Metallica is hit or miss. But Iron Maiden is one of the greatest bands to ever walk the earth. They have even cited Jehtro Tull as an influence. They have also done a great cover of Cross Eyed Mary. They have alot of progressive elements. They are on Progarchives.
What a great track, snap crackle & pop and all, really adds to it, just as I remember it on my beat up old record player while doing homework, better pace of life, better times. Nice one.
@frankenstang1973 Yes, the pace of life then is a key issue. As I once told a young lady, back then there were no "blinking red lights" demanding our attention - and we didn't miss them.
Wouldn't mind a handful of Shrooms right now, at this moment they're growing all over the place! Fuck it i'm going to pick some tomorrow!! What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon?
I used to play this out on my walkman speakers as i attended job as a messenger boy at one of norways biggest newspapers. probalby annoyed more people than i blessed, but couldnt care less....
great music and very expressive live performance, i gotta say though i dont think he got many girls with how he acted and his appearance, some of the best music ever though,
@KguitarF Not many bands prepared even to deviate beyond 2/4 or 4/4! Genesis are notable exceptions, of course, and who could forget the Golden Brown waltz of The Stranglers. Don't waltz to the instrumental between-verse infill though - you know, where they throw in the odd 4/4 bar...!!
this is a great song, but i wish it was a lot longer. it seems like it would make a good ten minute tune. is there any other versions that are longer?
This transports me in a instant back to my early days growing up in the sixties, love this track, it as such energy, it's as i the sixties were invented for this track not the otherway around.
peace for ever peace for ever |

this is a great song, but i wish it was a lot longer. it seems like it would make a good ten minute tune. is there any other versions that are longer?

This transports me in a instant back to my early days growing up in the sixties, love this track, it as such energy, it's as i the sixties were invented for this track not the otherway around.
