The wife and I have seen the Moodies three times in concer - the last time at a local casino - if you can believe- seemed almost sacreligious to play their music there!! But as with truly great artists the setting was unimportant - the venue had only 1500 seats - we were center stage just a few rows back - at the end the crowd hollered for the band to return soon!
@jmeyer4321 My husband and I have tickets to see The Moodies at a local casino as well. I wondered about the small venue, but with health problems I've had for the past two years, these were the only tickets we could afford. I've never seen them in concert and counting the days, hours, minutes !!!
This track is too short. I've been watching it for the best part of an hour, over & over again. Pretty soon I'm going to need one of those transparent hospital bags injected into my arm, to supply me with nourishment, nutrients, vitamins, etc..
I believe that people should accept all types of music, regardless of which they favor. Only then will we as a society achieve the harmony that the Moody Blues so frequently discuss through their music. Peace and Love.
@Ethinity The Moody Blues are before my time but i love this music, and the first 4 lines of the lyrics just grabbed me and would not let me go. I agree with you Ethinity not only for this reason but especially because this is a genuine treasure of music, it is artistically beautiful in sound and in thought :-)
I was on the Aircraft Carrier "USS Forrestal" in 1973 the first I heard this song. I felt at the time that Justin knew me. "You can never go home" cut to my core. I felt like "all the stars were falling down...to the earth and on the ground" and at the time "angry voices were carrying on the wind." I don't think much as changed. I believe the song means we can't go back to the same thinking that go us here." "Open up your heart and start to be you."
@trishanne64 a child filled with wonder totally different world view than that of a callous adult. So having the eyes of a child is a bad thing , great wisdom (experience) comes great sadness (knowing that life is not a fairytale or idealized like once believed). But also with experience comes acceptance and sort of a new wonder a love of life , remembering the little things that we overlook day to day, taking things for granted when searching for what is right in front of you the whole time.

My father and I use to listen to the moody blue on cassette when I was a child, but I had never heard this song until I was an adult. This is by far my favorite of all and I own a compilation of all of their works. This song wrenches at my heart.
Thank Heaven for Moody Blues....They are unbealiveable. My oldest son is also raised with them .I am so happy that I have passed this wonderful bands music on to him.....
EGBDF was not the best of the core 7.....both Threshold of a Dream and Seventh Sojourn were for sure better, and arguably so was Days of Future Passed. I have this album and although I like it, it never grew on me and grabbed me like the other three above.
@HighMomentum1 Mo, I have to respectfully disagree. This was the first Moodies album that grabbed me, and 40 years later (wow!) it still grabs me. To Our Children's Children's Children and Days are up there, too. But there's something truly great on every single album of theirs, the later ones included. You have your favorites & I have mine, but their body of work is fantastic.
Thanks so much for posting these legendary songs from the Moodies! Your videos are awesome! I got to share with my wife and son an evening of their music this week. It was my 5th time! Wow, the Moody Blues live on!!!
always forget about this song for some reason. my brother had the album and seemed to bypass it listening to some other song. it is a very nice piece of music, in it's own right!
@mrAdalkall Yes and Nop in my experience... Here, this particular song has never bored me and it never will, but comparision with the greatest 4 Fab can not always be fair since I've even became tired of some Beatles songs as Yellow Submarine, recently. Still, in the case of The Moody Blues I agree with you to some extent because their LPs seemed to be (funny enough) out of balance to their pretencious as if they trying to obligue a complex togetherness which failed in the overall results.
I used to think I was weird because I like these guys, rather than such SOPHISTICATED music such as disco and punk rock. I'm glad there are others out there with my perspective.
This band is the real deal for those of us who love measured, themed, and beautifully sung songs. Fortunately, the MB's were there to sing it for us. Even back in the '60s their music wasn't immediately accepted. Not loud enough, not fast enough for the speed freaks, etc. I've always loved their music. Beautiful stuff. Saw them in Sacramento and they can do it live too. Lamar

This is truly a classic song from the Moodies. The lyrics and music contain what the listener wants to believe but for me it represents a deep spiritual truth.
Beautiful and another gem from the best band ever.
@mrREDBIRDFAN it could be but they never said that just that its the notes egbdf there is a vaughn williams symhony that keeps getting louder with the same chord then soft people say its the aftermath of a nuclear war but vaughn williams said its not about that .
I have been TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH THE SOUND AND LYRICS they have given us all to share for eternity and beyond. So sad that some can not even see the depth of this beauty. Actually no words can describe what they mean to me.
When I listen to the Moodies, especially this album and "Threshold of a Dream" I feel like I am hanging in deep space looking at nebulae. Especially during the Crescendo at 1:15.
It's expression of longing and hope never fails to move me. It's truly an inspired tapestry of melody and words that speak of the search for our heart's resting place in this world.
Monkberry50 mentions the "core 7" LP's (known also as the "Magnificant 7" w/Mike Pinder)...it seems every few months, I have a new favourite core 7 LP--goes to show you how fantastic these gems truly are. The Moodies put out a tremendous wealth of quality rich material in those four or so years; makes you wonder if they came out from--let's say--2005 to 2009, would they be completely overlooked?
Me too, and there have been so many changes in the places where we grew up and the world today.... Thankfully we have the music to recall our lives 35 years ago
The moody Blues bring back so many memories - especially going to their concerts but even memories of "the gang" all sitting around listening to "vinyls" on the turntable :)
hey..I go back to the moody blues on 8 tracks...going to the beach or just riding around in my van....the late '60's...all I wanted to hear was the Moody Blues...love 'em as much today as then...maybe more....
majestic song .... simple eloquent lyrics, great lead accompany line, tasteful use of the mellotron.... EGBDF was their best of the core 7 moody albums...
@spacepatrolman To Our CCC was not the peak of their creative arc, but Eternity Road was a great song, dark and brooding... my favorite Ray Thomas song...
@JerichoDitch2 I was lucky enough to see The Moodies at the Montreal Forum in 1978. They did Legend of a Mind with the flute solo by Thomas that would have blown your doors off. Still the best!!
@Monkberry50 no, childrens ,children was their finest hour the rest of the so called core 7 were merely amazing and Octave was the first step on the road back to being amazing again it`s all just a question of balance.
@Monkberry50 It´s good to hear someone taking EGBDF as their best cause my real "conversion" to MB was based on this album (being AQOB, the first a heard, a very good one, although not proggie). "Procession" and the others were so magical for a 10 year old boy, and... still is!!
This Song remembers me about my first Cigarettes with eleven when you inhalated the Smoke and the Tobacco goes rght into the Brain and makes you dizzy for the first time !
Minnesota here too. God, this just blows me away. It's beautiful lyrics and the guitars combine to make it one of my favorite Moody Songs. It's nice to be a part of this group's followers. They are the best.
The Moody Blues are a true legend in the music business. Let's get them into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame where they have deserved to be for many many years.
Long ago I had this on 8 track and one night I was tripping out and had this album on continuous play. I heard the whole album over and over for about 12 hours. Kind of burned itself in to my memory for all time
@pauljeffreymiller my daddy raised me on Moody Blues too their music is so poetic and majestic, yeah my dad listens to old music (like 30s) now but if I was stuck on an island and could only take one group's music with me it'd be the Moody Blues without a doubt, its been that way since i was 8 LOL kudos to you for introducing your kids to the best group ever :D
That is amazing. I commend you for that. My brother and I had to find out about them ourselves, but it is a miracle we did because this is the most brilliant and moving music I have ever heard.
Wow! What a brilliant observation your son has made. The 60s and 70s were great decades for popular music and spawned an abundance of talent. Much of today's "manufactured" and tasteless tripe will never stand the test of time. The Moodies are indeed Magnificent.
@pauljeffreymiller fuck off beauty isnt restricted to boring white fuckers, i feel sorry for all the beauty your son will miss cause hes so closed minded.
the beautiful ironey of the MOODY BLUES not being in the Rock n Roll hall is that THEY should be in the top 25 of all time.....so let them be 225. Its Jan Wenner of Rolling Stone Mag..its HIS final decision. Madona? or the Moody Blues? perfect...
Not really true, though. Their LPs often hit the top 10 in both UK & US. Maybe they diminished their glow and influence by regrouping to create some very very forgettable pop that seemed to be just a way to cash a paycheck in the 80s & 90s?
Nice song, quiet and beautiful... I always played this album on a rainy day, probably because the first song had the sounds of rain and thunder in it. I think this album was one of their best.
The Moodies eschewed placing their facial (own) photos/portraits on their Album/CD covers....how bout that?

I remember back in my late teens and 20's sitting with
friends and listening to them with their music blaring
out of the biggest speakers. We were sure that they
knew the secrets of life. Many friends had been in the
Vietnam war. Now it is the Iraq and Afganistan war.
It is an amazing album from so many that they made.
We were so lucky to grow up with their songs. I truly
hope more people rediscover them. Thanks for the video.
So I guess

I raised me sons on the Moodies. One day we were
stopped at an intersection next to some teenagers blasting "don't do the crack MF don't do the crack"
duh duh wop duh duh wop. (You've all heard that
bass and drum track at 3am I'm sure) My youngest
said Dad it's sad to think of all the beauty they will not
have to look back on.
